"If you are planning a trip to Europe or Russia – don’t go. If you are already there – leave immediately. If you have family or friends there – get them out if you can. This is not a drill. It is the real deal. "

There seems to be no other option. The Mayak bomb factory and 1000 sq. kilometers around the factory is one of the most contaminated places on earth. Both the Chernobyla and Mayak area is burning spewing contaminated smoke into the air.

Some say the fallout of this will reach across the northern hemisphere.

Im no expert, so I am not sure if that is BS or not, but if so, good luck to you all.

Didn't webbot (yes yes I know) Mention something about radioactive material spreading across the Northern Hemisphere 7 times starting some time in the summer?

Could this be the prediction?

Either way, nothing to joke about or play with. Considering it's really hard for any one average person to detect contaminants in the enviroment.

Not good news...

The regions affected included Bryansk province, which borders Ukraine southwest of Moscow and was polluted by radioactive dust that billowed across Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Europe after a series of explosions at Chernobyl's reactor No. 4 on April 26, 1986.

Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu said on August 5 that in the event of a fire in forests in the Bryansk region, radioactive particles could be propelled into the air.

It says this radioactive material will remain in the atmosphere until rained out over the months. I'm no professional, but it seems every country has the potential to become a radioactive hotbed depending on how the atmospheric currents blow.

Stock up on vitamin c & e. It will help.

I really hope some degree of control can be obtained. Can this be verified?

Thank god I live in "the land down under"

Seriously though, this could make that volcanic ash cloud look like a light mist...

Wonder if they will use it for an excuse for mass evacuations and martial law..Scary times we live in...

Good idea, something is better than nothing.

Here is another write up...this article has pictures.

Fears of stirring up nuclear pollution from the Chernobyl disaster could take the crisis to a new level, though officials said radiation levels were normal in Moscow and it was unclear if smoke from fires in contaminated forests could be dangerous.

this one mentions Europe as well.

It looks like for the most part, the fears are real, and threaten Europe as well. Its not a good situation.

Well the Israeli's are already prepared since they have nuclear fallout suits since last November.

Lets not panic, at least not yet.

A cold front is advancing from the northwest and will hit the country. This cold front had stopped the germans advance in the 40s and will calm down the raging fires soon.

Nonsense. There has been numerous studies which prove that ascorbic acid helps with radiation poisoning dating back to the 1940's.
