Hi, I hope I am doing this right and it is a reply to the post on the Bentwaters Rendlesham forest thread.

I am in fact Steven LaPlume. I was doing a google on my name which I do periodically and found I was mentioned on this site. So figured I would chime in.

Please note the cut and paste from the other site I wrote and if you read Georgian Bruni's (RIP) "You can't tell eh people" you will see my story is the same then as it s now as it was the time it happened. I think Halt has admitted/confirmed recently I was there and all as well.

Ok you l want proof am who I say I am right? So how do I do that to your satisfaction? Let me know and I will do my best to comply. I mention this because when I googled Frank Camper who was on another thread he was getting skewered about "are you really FJ Camper prove it" sort of stuff. I know Frank and attended his Merc School back in the 80's and was an instructor there as well. Frank and I still talk.

I know Nick Pope and also Peter Robbins quite well also they can confirm who I am as well. I guess I can scan my DD-214 that shows I was there as well.

Ok s to address a few things about me being mentioned on this thread. Some ne mentioned I seemed to be insecure and paranoid. Hmm I guess I should be offended but I am not. I was a real immature punk ass kid when I joined the service. Insecure yeah you nailed that for sure. I was raised by a very strict mother my father was a workaholic and I was a bit of a mammas boy to tell the truth. I was insecure as I had never really been out in the world and was always kept close to the apron strings. Paranoid? Well after the incident I was but only after I noticed a bit of odd things going on with Larry Warren in particular and then there two guy tailing which I confronted in the all ranks club.

Some one mentioned my name LaPlume which is French for the feather or the pen. It is my real name. It does mean Pen but it is due to my French Canadian heritage. I can not help what my name is.

Also it was asked why did I come out with all this now? Well I guess because as mentioned I am a private person. did not want this few hours of my life to define me like it has Larry Jim John Halt etc.... I had a life to live and I wanted no part of the UFO community after just one interview and going to one MUFON meeting with Larry Warren and Larry Faucett (sic?) back in about 1982 I figured the UFO community were a bunch of loons and I wanted no part of it. No disrespect to the UFO community thy are just not my cup of tea. Back then I was really taken back by them and the whole UFO thing.

Georgina Bruni actually tracked me down and I agreed to talk to her. that is about the first time since 1984 that I had talked to anyone about this all. I did do a radio show or two recently but I will never do that again either. I just am not interested in this issue so much like so many of the rest whom I see have made career out of it. I made a career doing other things.

Ok so here I am if you want to ask me anything please feel free. but if you are aggressive and rude don't expect much in the way of a reply. I will respect this forum and those in it and would ask the same. I have no issue with debunkers you have your opinion and job t o and I respect that as well. If this did not happen to me I would be a big skeptic as well.

ok have at it. :-)

Hi Plume I'm sorry I can't add anything to the thread or provide extra information. But if you are who you say you are (I'm not calling you a liar) it may be worth contacting the site owner there you can talk to them provide them with evidence of who you are and the site owner will address the users of the site

Recently in the last few months ATS has had a event going called 'ask me anything' this is were high profile persons have been introduced to the site and has allowed others to ask them questions

We recently had nick pope speaking to users on here. So if you are telling the truth maybe the site owners can help you out

Actually I have a question for anyone on this thread. The last time I heard the whole incident was concluded that the lights they saw was the light house. Now I would assume that the sort of base bentwaters was at the time surely the people operating from the base would of had general knowledge of the local area

So why weren't the light house light suggested by the people who were going through the forest when they noticed the lights

If I was in the woods and knew the light house was near by id be like "those lights we can see could be the light house"

If my question makes sense hopefully someone can point me to my answer

Edit: my question made easier .. Why weren't the light house light taking into consideration when the witnesses first saw the light

Hello Steve welcome to ATS. I am taking you at face value that you are who you say you are. I was the one who copied and pasted (and I also edited out large chunks) of your story from the old Rendlesham forum (that has now disappeared). A very intriguing read.

Thanks for explaining a few things. There are so many loose ends and conflicting statements involved with Rendlesham that it's difficult to come to any conclusion of "what really happened". It seems to me that some very weird things appear to have gone on back in 1980 and that the UFO story is only part of it.

Larry Warren has occasionally mentioned that he thinks he, and possibly others, found themselves at Bentwaters/Woodbridge for a reason. What do you think was going on back then?

It's such a complicated case that a few paragraphs really won't answer your question in any detail.

The lighthouse theory (coupled with a number of other astronomical events) is the baby of astronomer Ian Ridpath. All of the main witnesses say the lighthouse was not what they saw and cannot explain, radar returns, equidistant indentations on the ground, blue lights, exploding lights etc....etc.

Some of the USAF personnel were fairly new to the base and many had not been out into the forest itself (which is where the incident(s) took place). Rendlesham forest came under UK jurisdiction as well so US troops would normally have no reason to venture out there. So not all of them would be familiar with the lighthouse. However there is plenty of testimony highlighted earlier in the OP of the thread that , if true, makes the lighthouse irrelevant.

Hi mirageman,

The old Rendlesham forum hasn't entirely disappeared.

I can't remember if I posted about in on ATS, but I recovered the old Rendlesham forum (thanks to "Daniel" of that forum) and converted the archive into searchable PDF files. The PDF archive is at:
minus.com...

I have also uploaded the original html archive supplied to me by "Daniel" to the link below (with a file size of about 0.4Gb):
minus.com...

Laurent Chabin subsequently let me know that he had uploaded the html archive to the link below (at which each page can be viewed online without downloading the entire archive):
ufowaves.org...

By the way, welcome Steve. I have a number of questions for you but I'll hold back for now. I don't want to you to be bombarded with questions from all sides as soon as you pop up here.

Mirageman thanks for the answer, I'll be honest I haven't read much into the events but when I've seen documentaries on it they always mention the light house and to me that answer was never good enough

Thanks again some day I might spend more time looking into it

Ok Well to start off the light house. I was looking at the light house in the background and Palmer and I were commenting on it when we saw the craft approach. This light house is about 5 miles away. So unless a light house can uproot itself and fly over my head and then take off in to the stars... Trying not to be sarcastic here. What I saw and encountered was NOT what the other Airmen saw when they had their sighting (S) I was not part of that and have never claimed to be part of that episode so I can not speak for them nor will I. Please note they were in the woods across the street from the east gate. I was on Base at the end of the blast wall near the guard shack with an unobstructed view.

Regarding Larry. We were transferred to this base from my understanding to fill in gaps because a group of the Security team had given into their carnal desires and taken up the heroin habit. We were the replacements for these blokes.

Also I believe that Larry was in some way mind F***ed to believe he saw beings to be a spoiler of some sort. I have no facts to base this on other than it was a common practice to disinformation a situation by simply adding so many twists and such that no one can figure out anything and al involved look like loons. Again This is just my personal Opinion.

If someone could give me a clue as to how to contact the site owners for the ask a person thing you mentioned please help me out.
Can some one clue me in as to how to post pics? I have docs I scanned like my passport, Dd214 and such as proof of who I am. A few things no one would ever get off the internet so there would be no dispute.

It is true there were a group of us that were new. I have no clue as to how many new vs older SP's were in the forest that night but please note while the forest was UK we did have war games with British troops in there on a few occasions so some of the older SP's would have known at least a bit about the forest.

Plus I believe Halt described a beam of light coming straight down out of the sky and as I said the light house was some 5 miles away so a beam like a laser beam he described would be about impossible I believe. Again I was not there but just throwing that in.

There were a few events going on that night of the original sighting in December 1980 one was the falling to earth of a soviet satellite. So throw that in to the mix as well. AS you can see and anyone who has investigated this would know it seems everyone has a bit of a different take on the whole thing.

My personal thoughts are thus; We were Efed with in some manner to believe we saw a UFO. I can not explain how Penniston came up with a bunch of 001101010101010 stuff to actually get Coordinates to hot spots around the world one of which was in China at a place that is one of the most sacred Mountains in Chinese culture and historically was very important to the Chinese. Again a whole slew of unanswered questions makes this case very interesting.

I talked to John Burroughs about this like maybe 4 years ago and he at the time seemed to think Electro Magnetic Radiation would have been used to somehow make us open our minds while perhaps holograms were shown. again I have no clue. But I do know that there are a few side effects to this upon studying it and radiation burns to the eyes as some had. Uncontrolled feeling of grief or doom (Some airmen were supposedly seen leaning against trees and crying) and also a very aggressive attitude where there was none before. I would have to say I fell in to that category.

For the life of me I can Not understand how Palmer and I could see a craft over our heads so close t the Flight tower and we were the only two people on base to see this huge craft. There had to be something kinky going on. Do I believe it was a real UFO from outer space. Hell I have no clue. I doubt I will ever figure that out. What I do know is the reaction of the Officers was out of the Norm. I mean who in their right mind would bring their wife and teen age kid to an investigation like this. They went in to the woods like a bunch of kids going to look for elfs. really it was more of a "Oh boy I hope get to see one" sense more than "Ok lets see what is breaching our security" Totally befuddled even a snot nosed kid like I was at the time. Please remember I had just turned 18 a few months earlier and was quite immature at the time.

As I have mentioned I only entered the USAF because the Nursing school I wanted to go to Shut down due to budget cuts (Thanks Jimmy Carter!) The only reason I went in as a Security Specialist is because we could carry and M-16 (Actually these were true original full auto AR-15's with no forward assist) I liked the gun part. The only reason I requested England was because I wanted to go to an English speaking country and I was a big Beatles and The Who fan soooooo. Oh side note I did get to go to a Who concert in Whembly (sic) arena/stadium when I was there - totally awesome. John Lennon was assassinated when I was stationed there so no chance of a Beatles reunion :-(

After this incident I changed inside I changed I knew it I felt it I grew up and grew a set of brass balls seemingly overnight. I wanted to go fight I wanted to go to Rhodesia and fight I wanted blood (Rhodesia had ended though but there were still ranchers needing security) Larry can testify one of the last things I said to him (Excuse the vulgarity) was when he asked me what I planned to do when I got out my reply was "I want to go to Africa and kill 'n-word's" I had never said that word a day in my life before that. I heard it come out of my mouth and wondered who it was that had said it. I have a rejection letter form the Philippines when I requested I assist with the issues they had. I ended up in Nicaragua fighting with the Contras. Ok fair enough war is war. Jungle fighting suited me well I liked it and I was pretty good at it. I am still here despite a few extra holes in me. I am not bragging truly I am not I am trying to show the polite mammas boy who left for basic training in July of 1980 was not the same man that returned in April of 1981. Something happened I just have no clue as to what. Today after man years of trying to get my Chit together I have rejoined the human race and I no longer have such a blood lust. But I sure as heck did then. I was in love with death it was damn near sexual is the best way I can describe it. I know this statement makes me loo really twisted but back then I think I was a bit of a nut I simply did not care about anything life friends nothing I was simply out for blood. So tell me why did I change so radically so quickly? No really anyone have an answer to offer? Part of the reason I wish to talk about this is to find out the answer to that question. Its been what 33 years now? That's a long time to wonder about such a thing with no more clue now than I did the day after the event.

Cheers
Steve

Hello again Steve. I'd advise against scanning any personal documents and adding them on a public forum like this one.

To contact the owners use the Contact Us page.

Then navigate to the far right and use the contact icon

I'm sure they would assist in explaining how to set up the "Ask Me Anything" process.

Thanks again for that Steve.

The main focus in the media is always given to Charles Halt, Jim Penniston, John Burroughs and Larry Warren and those 3 or 4 days of late December in 1980. This gives a slightly wider perspective on things.

The story first caught my attention as I was delivering the Sunday newspapers one crisp October morning in 1983 and the headline "UFO lands in Suffolk and that's official". Since then I have amassed a number of files, podcasts and other info on Rendlesham over the last decade. There are many conflicting statements and things I still don't understand about the case to this day. It does sound like something weird was going on from your comments.

If I can collect my notes (and thoughts) together and find the time then I may put together a new post picking up some of things not mentioned in this thread.

It is after all the 33rd anniversary of Rendlesham.

Oh and such a shame about Lennon, big Beatles fan myself but that's for discussion elsewhere.

Ok got it I will attempt to contact the site owners then and get that set up. It will have to be after the 1st of the year though. I am neck deep in a dining room rehab starting Monday. Kids are off visiting their mom for Christmas so I have 10 days to demo and rebuild so busy boy for me. No one to help and alone for the holiday should be azzes and elbows for a few weeks after that I can be available for such an event.

Yeah something happened there you can remove any of the key players even two of them and you still have something going on. No oddly the other players like Bastinza (sic?) and others are quiet about all this. I suspect like me they have lives that do not revolve around a few hors of their lives 33 years ago. Larry seemed t be consumed by it. I kept in touch with him very closely after we got back for a few years then I went and did my thing and he did his. I have not seen him since about 1989 or so.

One issue I want to bring up though is I was a Security Specialist NOT Law Enforcement. I was only assigned to L.E. because A: I had not received my Secret Security clearance yet which would have allowed me to work in the WSA (Weapons Storage Area0 or the NAPA (Non Alert Parking Areas) and B: because L.E. was simply short of personnel. I was treated like a red headed step child most of the time not being L.E. and was relegated to sitting on the East Gate until it closed at night about 7:30 PM at which time I would give bathroom and chow hall breaks. In the early AM I would be sent back to the East Gate to open it up for commuter traffic which would use this gate to travel to and from Bentwaters. Other than that I only worked on the main gate and most of the time I was on Woodbridge Not Bentwaters.

I bring this up because normally an SP would not be doing an LE task like I was. I had been asked about this issue once before. My Security Clearance should have been waiting for me or given to me soon after I arrived at Bentwaters. However I suspect but can not prove it was withheld by Captain Verano because on a yellow alert he passed my post which I had been tasked with checking Everyone's ID who passed. he refused, it was my first day on duty and I did not know him or who he was despite the uniform and appearance of being a Security officer I had no idea so I jacked him up (at gun point) and put him and his LT face down in the mud until they showed me their ID's. Not a good way to start off a career on a new base day one on duty. Life and my career went downhill for me from that point on, though I did not really mind I had a job and I did not hate it everyone kind of ignored me so it was actually pretty good duty for me. If not for these events I think I would never have ben on that gate on that night.

I do not think we were purposely assigned to this base for nefarious reasons. I asked to go to the UK as did Larry who had lived in the UK in high school on an exchange student program.

Hope this intel helps in some way or manner
Steve

Thanks for the well made thread. Its full of very good information. The bit of the aliens being us from the future. Could be expanded. If there was a facility in the future that could send people back in time, they would have to be sent with a return vehicle . Or they wouldn't be able to get back to their own time. The place of the transmission would have to be the place of conclusion of the mission, even if it was a thousand years in their past. The transmission would have to cause some effect to any observer observing the place, during the transmission, as it would have to go through the observers timeline. So if there was such a vehicle as a time machine that materialised from point A to point A a thousand years in the past, It would have to be fairly precise with regards to geography,as it could conceivably hit someone or something, unless they move through like a wave? during the transmission especially if it was a long time travel. Then if this vehicle could, move around and collect various samples, then its a pretty fair bet that it would have to leave this timeline, from the exact point of its arrival. Or it would miss the place in the future that the projection facility was situated at. This strikes me that arrival places and departure places would have to be marked with some precision. Or the practicalities might have them materialising in a wall or projection equipment.
Of course another way of looking at it is that the portal gets energised from the future at specific times, and is opened for a period to get the travellers back with there samples. This could account for specific strangeness at certain locals. Or the fact of random disappearances.

Upon inspection the next day they'd probobally discovered it was indeed ravers out for a christmas party, and with Cold-War tensions at the time they were told to fabricate a story so the Soviets weren't aware of the Base weakness. This led to the fabrication of the imprints, hieroglyphics and radiation samples, none of which were ever real.

If you can prove it sir, or provide a link which discusses something similar at least then I'll definitely give it a read and maybe believe you.

Obviously nothing thats been mentioned by reports or accounts since the Rendlesham Forest incident occurred. I suspect its because anyone who organised the rave/party would be liable for trespass if they ever owned up to causing it. Its just my own personal theory, from experience with these things.

Are you serious? or are you still in a drug crazed haze after just coming home from a rave???

Firstly, There were NO RAVES IN 1980, the rave scene did not start until the mid - late 80's, I know as I was a UK DJ working on raves, clubs and mobiles for many years and I infact did events for the military as well.

Secondly, Raves are a summer event, no one in their right mind goes partying in a dark forest late in December when it is freezing cold. NOBODY!

Thirdly: The imprints were real because they have plaster casts of them, radiation was recorded however, the hieroglyphs seen on the craft can not be proved because we do not have that evidence available, as it was only eyewitness testimony.

Your own personal theory with experience of these things? Whatever do you mean? Going to raves that have intelligent lighting and lasers? Just of note again: Intelligent lighting and lasers were in their infancy then being very unreliable and expensive. they were hardly mobile either and I do not know of any mobile disco/roadshow who had them in December 1980. The best lighting available was Par Can's 64/56 and Pinspots 36 and that was in use in top clubs. Most mobile discotheques used cheap traffic light style columns (usually made by FAL) and lightscreens.

So basically your theory can be put to bed. Bye bye!

Hey LaPlume as my reply a little whole back you may get the impression I don't have much knowledge about the incident ... Which is true lol. But just want to say what a strange feeling it is to talk to a witness that was a part of one of the biggest UKs UFO siting. By reading your replies I have no reason to believe that you are lying to us and I don't have the grounds to ask you to prove yourself

I do have a question though.

As your own personal thought what do you believe you saw that day ? Have you ever thought of any possible explanations that may of caused what people saw

Thanks for your time

Well I have had over 30 years to ponder your question. I have heard everything from time travelers, to experiments with Electro magnetic radiation to Aliens to holograms...etc....

But right now in this place and time I honestly have no clue for sure what I saw. I saw or believe I saw a craft over my head. Prior to that I saw lights like a satellite dancing in the sky in a manner that I can not explain.

I would say the most plausible would be some sort of time warp or time travel thing going on. I only say this based off a few inside things A close friend told me about his time spent with remote viewing and how they went into this area.

If you think time is forward and backward your half right. for us here and now it is. But what if there is a energy field right next to us. Kind of like lanes on a freeway. we are al going at our own speeds heading in the same direction. But every now and then some one crosses the line and we get a little fender bender right?

So what if time is like that if we are here now in 2014 but right next to us is 4014? if they bleed over to the right and slide on into our time line then I think that's about the only way I could Think it possible and it was how it was explained to me. IF you think about in that way I think Time travel is possible in some manner. So could a future us slide over to say collect DNA or experiment on cows (Cattle mutilation) maybe get a person impregnated then come take them sure why not. But why is the question and I was told by this insider that it had to do with a radioactive event that happens far in our future and that there was a real need to get fresh DNA that was not corrupted.

Now you can take all this with a grain of salt as I did but it is still one of the more plausible theories I think. AS far as space men coming from far away places I can't get my head around that given the physical restrictions involved. I could agree that they might be living here and maybe lurking in the depths of the ocean or something like that. maybe we would nothing more than an experiment to them. I have no clue.

A few other reasons I think time travelers in some manner is more plausible is the simple fact that Jim Penniston had stated he asked who are you and they said they were us. Also the codes he laid out in his field note book seems to point to some high energy hot spots in the world. Maybe these hot spots have something to do with time energy space whatever I don't know I am not a scientist.

I was just some kid on patrol that night doing my job as I was trained to do and landed in the middle of a # storm. it ruined my career in the Air Force and ruined my life for some time until I stopped sniveling and got my life back on track. But by then I had changed a lot and I was on the dark side for many years doing evil things. Hard to even think of that person then as me. I am now more like I was before the incident. I am kick back take it easy not high strung. I do see the old me rear his ugly head every now and then but I step him back down where he belongs and try to live a good wholesome God Fearing life.

Honestly though one of my biggest fears is I get a phone call one day like in the Manchurian candidate and then I twist off. With my past it would be easy for some secret elitists to paint a picture of a troubled person going postal for what ever reason. I would never do that but who knows what happened to me. I sure don't. So I try to live a low profile life. Enjoy every day above ground pay my taxes work a job that allows me to care for my family and just get through it all as unscathed as I possibly can. I don't want a bunch of lime light I don't; want to write a book go on tour or any of that whoopla others form this incident seem to relish. But I will say this what I say today I said 30 years ago I have not changed my story nor would I If I did not see anything I refuse to speculate on what others thought or saw or felt. I just know what I saw and how the brass from the base and wing commander reacted which I still think is a significant part of this puzzle. They seemed to have no clue what it was either they were excited to see a UFO and even brought their family members out to go see "IT" whatever "IT" was.

If they were in on it or had knowledge they should all get an academy award for acting like they were clueless as to what was going on.

I wish I could know what it was al about before I drop dead but I have resigned myself to the fact I most likely never will.

John Burroughs and Jim Penniston have teamed up with Nick Pope (Who I know and have had a few glasses of wine with him and Georgina Bruni when she was still with us) I would really like to see if the would release the rest of the binary codes he has. To date I think they have only release a few pages of what he had and there is more. When I talked to John B last he said something to the effect it was not time for them to let the world know yet but it would be. Whatever that means. so interesting to see what he was talking about.

Hmm a long reply. no thanks I have had enough coffee I think ha ha ha well the wood stove needs stoking if I am to keep the frigid temps at bay. talk later hope this long reply helped in some way. though it was a bit of a rant I think.

Ha this is a shorter reply than yours. Er first off thanks for getting back to me. Your reply didn't sound like a rant at all in fact I thought it was quite a good reply to my question. You didn't just blurt out your answer you gave me a rough idea of how you came to a conclusion of what you saw. I have no expertise in this sort of genre.

Completely understand what you said about how you want to live your life and I completely accept what you want to do. If I was in your position I'd be exactly the same. I can't wait for the day more facts are revealed if they do that is. Your answer was perfect it did and didn't answer my question but it's all good

Again Mr LaPlume I appreciate your time thank you
