There is a part of me that would love an apocalyptic end to humanity as we currently know it... Maybe just because of recent events in my life in the last 3 years or so... Or maybe I'm just sick in the head lol. However I'm not getting my hopes up, as I have been disappointed in the past... Wow that sounds kind of wrong
.

What we are more likely to see is a grungier, grimier, more broken-down world. A world of service interurruptions, duct-taped pipes, skill bartering, and do-it-yourselfism. A retrenchment to traditional values, family, community, and inner life. This need not bring out the worst in people -- in fact, it has the potential to bring out the best.

Hummmmm … Did the melt down already happen? That pretty much describes my life now.

But seriously it would be prudent for one to prepare just in case.

Yes, in way it already has happend, for millions! Billions, worldwide! The veil of illusion is what is really lifting as it hits what is ultimately a very small but very vocal demographic group -- the middle class in developed nations.

In the future they will say the middle class in the developed world began to decay in the 1980s, but that people didn't really start to feel it on a widespread and urgent level until the 2010s.

I do not look forward to what is coming, though I do look forward
to after the crisis and the hope that we rebuild the US with
true lasting protections against the pirates in place.

I say it is coming because history books parallel the events that
are happening right now.

I also have posted many times by many credible sources that
most of what has happened has been by design.

Hyperinflation has happened 34 times, 35 if you count the recent
revaluation in North Korea.

The actions that have taken place, and look like to continue are
leading us down that road.

The world has an abundance of liars like those in the government,
wall street, and most corporations.

Do not listen to what they say look at what they do, and what they
try to hide, wikileaks has been a good example.

The best advice I can give anyone at this point is the handle of an ATS
member...."Get ready already".

If you do not have a survival plan that covers an economic and
social collapse then you are putting your life and your families at risk.

Order out of Chaos is one of the tools being used.

Problem, Reaction, Solution is the technique.

They want a change in the way things are so they create the problem
that will have a likely reaction, and they already had their solution
waiting for it.

Most of the ppl will beg for the solution because there will be mass
marketing it ahead of time.

Some ppl have woke up to all the lies and deceptions from both
parties, some find it hard to believe that their party would lie to
them and refuse to look at the facts.

So for now we just keep hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

www.ammoland.com...

It appears quite a few ppl are preparing for things to get pretty bleak.

For survival focus on what I call the core five.

1) Knowledge - knowing as much as possible can save your life
2) Self Defense - A few seconds in the LA riots did kill
3) Shelter - A few hours of severe exposure can kill
4) Water - 3 days without water if active can kill
5) Food - its last because you can go many days without it

Have a good bug out bag and think long term tools and skills.

Go out and practice your skills some and see where you fall short.

Have some short term stuff as well, but once it runs out you
have to be able to survive off nature.

Have a supply cache stashed somewhere that will not likely
be swarming with ppl after things fall apart.

The cities will not be safe, they will turn into urban combat zones.

Think LA riots in most major US cities.

If you see it coming just tell ppl your going camping, and
if everything turns out fine you just came back from camping early.

Good Luck to all the good ppl !

what exactly are you talking about? What chaos? People are just too damn lazy for "chaos" to happen. When / if anything at all happens, I don't really think anything "big" will come about..people will just adapt..we are already desensitized..do you really think there is going to be this grand revolution of good people vs. bad people? People have no breaking point, they don't want to take time out of their #ty lives to make anything better. They will continue to sit back and keep on watching american idol or the bachelor or worrying what is going on with tiger woods or lindsey lohan..

Don't you get it??? People don't care and I honestly believe that there are no lines that can be crossed to make people stand up and give a damn.

there seems to be some punks in the bunkhouse, so try hard to think.
has anyone ever died in your arms ?
or wandered off and blew their brains out?
have you ever shot or stabbed anybody?
or even butchered an animal?
do you have any emotional and mental systems
to cope with the stresses your cool imaginings
would actually be like? hope so.
lotsa luck- like i said -

The chaos will come from such things as ...

The warning about Katla from the Prez of Iceland happens.

The Cumbre Vieja slips into the ocean and levels the east coast.

The 36th Hyperinflation occurs and it takes a wheel barrow of
money to buy a loaf of bread.

The $1,200 Trillion USD derivatives scam unravels in short order.

Oil over $200 a barrel due to a large scale Mid East war.

Embargo by OPEC like it did in the 70's due to our support for Israel.

A lack of food due to a lack of fuel in the concrete jungles that
have all their food trucked in.

A Greater Depression as we did not import over 70% of our oil in 1929.

A simple bio-weapon mass released in most major US cities at
the same time that is simply an aerosol can and a timer.

Someone goes rambo on the government and it is used to crackdown
on the ppl and things get very orwellian.

A new Supreme court justice shifts the power and the recent
5-4 vote for the 2nd amendment becomes a 5-4 vote against it.

S.787 passes and they start taxing all ponds and wells.

A new variation on NAIS gets passed and they put a huge head
tax on livestock and basically bankrupt small farmers.

The passing of Codex Alimentarius becomes obvious to most ppl.

The content of the film Food Inc becomes obvious to most ppl.

There are others, but a few of these could get things warmed up.

My sad answers to the above:
1) yes
2) No
3) yes
4) Yes
5) I have no cool imaginings, no tats, and no piercings.
My friendly advice, find land above 800 feet. Better, 1000 feet. Hopefully, I'll get out of this bastard fort soon, and return to Colorado.

I am 100% divided on the topic. It would be crazy if it would happen. Almost cool for the exact same reason you gave. I must admit, though, I've never been in situations like that (rounds plinking around me, praying that I don't die from illness without attention) so when it gets to that point in time...I could be biting my tongue. Some may consider flaming here, but I've played Fallout 3 for PS3. OK, yes...it's a game but a somewhat realistic one. I mean, you basically have to survive in a world where the SHTF bad. That's a game though. Real life won't be as fun.

Now, my other side-which I sort of already touched on- is just being content with ideas of it, games about it, and just being safe with things I love. It's a tough decision. I don't totally disagree with you, but neither do I agree.

My final thought here: I feel for anyone who is very close with their family. I mean, if people you love really closely aren't prepared and parish...man, I guess that's what seperates the weak from the strong. It would be tough times.

I feel your pain, man.

I'm lookin' forward to the day when all those asholes that laughed at me because I buy the extra can of beans will realize what I had been saying was true.

I still live primitive, natural, grow most of our family's food...pigs, goats, chickens, big ass garden...developing my barter skills...my friends at work call me Joe Amish...I live so backward. When they found out I traded a 200 lb pig for 40 laying hens...they laughed and said that sounded like something their gran daddy did.

I laugh along, but sometimes it hurts my pride, because i just want a normal laid back life...and to be accepted. But so many folks don't think I'm normal because I live like I do.

On the other hand, I am successful and at 47, can still work circles around the young bucks that work for me. I'll never be hungry and I'll never be cold... I have been there and didn't like it...it is a great motivator.

Many folks are starting to realize that folks like you and me aren't so stupid or weird afterall...

Success is the best revenge.

First of all Atlien I'm going to assume that your in or near Atlanta. There is no way I would want to be near any major city when the SHTF.

This army you plan to build, is this one you are leading? There is a lot of alpha males out there and for you to go ahead and decide to be leader is a bit premature.

If so much as the electricity goes away then the chaos that would follow is like nothing we could imagine. No readily available food or water. It would take about a week for you to start seeing the animal in everyone around you.

You would have to decide who's in and who's out of your little group. I say little group because you would have to keep it simple. You can't have more people than food allows.

What you have everyone else would want. You would never have another goodnight sleep.

You might want to rethink your fantasy. Be aware and prepared that it could happen but don't wish or dream for it.

There are not enough people like you. Who cares what fool laughs or jokes with you about your self sustainability. A pig for 40 chickens is awesome. You could live just off the eggs and meat alone.

The only problem is how many people know about what you have? If the SHTF then you automatically have all those people looking for you to help them.

Who would be making fun of you then?

Every history book I ever read confirms this to the Nth degree.

Mankind has been a war like race as far back as we have
been able to trace.

Some of it for totally imaginary reasons like religion.

Millions upon millions of dead, maybe even billions.

Chaos and Anarchy will probably come to America someday because so many seem to want it to happen. It won't be a worldwide event however.

I have an indication of when the shtf will happen and I have made provisions to excape to another country, not so obsessed with violence and guns; with my money, my GF and my sanity in plenty of time.

I want nothing to do with what America will become. It won't be a romanticed version of back to the land and self sufficiency. It will become a land of raging epidemic diseases, barbarism and insanity.

chaos would definitely restart the world. unfortunately it might set terrible things in motion after the after that no one would appreciate.

although i feel its inevitable. I'm not sure if i truly want to experience it, even with all the survival and military training i have.

but i would love to see the government and the hostile corporations get an enema and be completely gutted of their abusive control of we the people, who just want to live a simple unrestricted life.

but as i said, it is inevitable.

My response to all of you:

I am fortunate enough to be handsome, intelligent, athletic, financially stable and able to defend myself, but with all my attributes I unfortunately lack a moral compass, I feel as though I should be in a position of great power, and hopefully this upcoming crisis will present me with such an opportunity. Forgive me for not being as sympathetic as most, but be forewarned in the coming age only the strong will survive.
