I hope that im not putting myself in the firing line with this thread. On reflection, it seems like a murky topic indeed. I hope people dont misunderstand my intentions. If you'll excuse the pun, i didnt primarily post it for the purpose of cheap titillation.

That was pretty funny. It always amazes me how people have the imagination to knock these things up at the drop of a hat.

No no

We get what you mean by it

I just thought I would add that, because I think in that case...its not really a very "normal" thing to enjoy. But then again, who's to say whats normal these days

Thanks. I appreciate the reassurance.

Yep, what is normal nowadays - its hard to tell what is and what is not a taboo subject as peoples values seem to be in a state of constant flux.

no no, Silver Star, i am not bashing the title chosen for your thread at all.

i do take this a little seriously, but seriously, humor is also medicine.

your first link was a good story, and their family pictures seem normal enough for me.

your second link, is that the father in the picture breast feeding directly?

the third link was probably the most informative of the three, and i did learn something from it:

Although the special substance, known as HAMLET (Human Alpha-lactalbumin Made LEthal to Tumour cells), was discovered in breast milk several years ago, it is only now that it has been possible to test it on humans. Patients with cancer of the bladder who were treated with the substance excreted dead cancer cells in their urine after each treatment, which has given rise to hopes that it can be developed into medication for cancer care in the future.

but....

what is one searching for when finding these articles?

what did you plug into what search engine to find them, .... and the why .... i guess i don't need to know..

interesting head turning eyes popping out of my skull choice for a title of a thread!

now, if everyone doesn't mind, i'm going to take a break to spend some time trying to round off infinity, while imagining what hitler's orgasm face might have looked like....

In the first instance I see no problem with the daughter expressing and providing that milk to someone.

In the second case I call E-Eww!! It's not on for father's to touch their daughter's breasts for any reason as far as I am concerned.

As for breastfeeding in general, it used to be the best thing we could do for the newborn. But, today we know that toxins taken in by the mother will be fed to the child via the milk produced, in which case it is about as healthy as Chinese Bottle Formula for babies.

it depends on how your formal and informal structure is in your family; if you dont mind a stranger giving you the milk if HAMLET is "real", then would this not negate your moral confusion?

nothing like talking about fathers' drinking their own daughters' breast milk for medical benefits and drinking gorilla piss, too, in order to form a new friendship.

do people start off conversations like this in the grocery stores, political rallies, or church bible study groups when meeting someone for the first time?

i'm adding you to my friends list just because you had the ______ to type in that title!

*i use "_______" when i have absolutley no idea what word to put there.

on a weekend when all these "hate" threads popped up, here comes this title.

only on ATS.

this place is fun,

I'm going to say case one ok thats fine awkward but there is no touching. Case 2 is too Electra complex for me. No its just no... A father should never be breast feeding from his daughter as in literally from the breast. I guess it is what you make it but I personally would not feel comfortable with that.

You will not like my reply, but I think if my Father came to me and said I have cancer can I use your breast milk to fight it, I would tell him to go take a hike. I would hope he would ask his wife to possibly lactate for him, but if he did come up to me, I told him he was sick and perverted, and no I wouldn't help him. I don't like my Father anyway. So I would think it would be a little weird. I have tried breastfeeding and I don't like it at all. That's me though.

Would you call him sick and perverted just asking for breast milk (for health reasons) or for wanting to feed from your breast? There's a huge difference.

In truth, i was hesitant about submitting this thread as i was unsure how appropriate it was for ATS. Also, i wasnt sure if i could live with the thread title blaring out at everyone on my profile page. My finger was hovering over the dreaded 'POST' button for a good few minutes.

Dont worry, this is somewhat mild compared to a thread a while back about women saving their afterbirth, having it cooked down into a powder....to consume it in capsule form.

The breast milk idea is mild...compared to that

My girlfriends and I have discussed this many times...and have always wondered why a company does not take lactating women and offer to buy their milk (thoroughly tested of course, how ever that would happen). Though our idea of thinking was for women that have a baby and dont have enough milk to offer the baby. They could buy breast milk for the baby instead of formula.

In places like Africa...its not uncommon for mothers to feed another mothers baby on her breast.

For the father idea...I would say it is fine...but I dont agree to direct suckling from the nippie
Yes those breast pumps suck (no pun intended)....they do hurt...but so does a mouth with teeth.

Lol...great thread

Really, it kinda depends if it's acceptable or not. Does he pour it on himself and pop an erection? Does he have videotapes of her showering? Is his daughter pretty? Do you think I should eat a bag of M&Ms?

Good Heavens, folks, we're not talking rampant erotocism here! (No crticism of the OP intended.)

Do a Google image search for Ruben's painting "Roman Charity". If memory serves, the painting depicts an adult Roman woman suckling her imprisoned father *as an act of charity*. I've just looked at the painting-clearly it is *not* a sexual situation. In Ruben's time, this was obvious, it seems. When did we become such "perversion hounds"?

Isn't the woman currently under discussion doing much the same thing for much the same reason? Via pump or breast-who cares, none of my business.

It's my favourite story to get the conversation going at dinner parties! Thanks for the add - it is reciprocated.

Sounds like a good idea!!

Also, i have heard of women saving their placentas, cooking and making a pie out of it and then inviting their friends around to eat the beastly thing - for what wacky 'Mother Earth' reason i am unable to fathom.

Since the milk is expressed, I am assuming it is not being done right in front of the father as he watches. So, I don't see a any moral problem at all.

My wife used to use a breast pump and store the breast milk in the fridge, so I could could get up in the middle of the night instead of her.

This father could get the breast milk discreetly with offending any ones sensibilities.

Personally, as long as there is no sexual overtones I think this is a personal issue that is nobody's business.

Stem cells apparently cure boy's fatal disease

Using stem cells from umbilical cord blood and bone marrow, researchers have apparently cured a fatal genetic disease in a 2-year-old Minneapolis boy, which could open the door for other stem cell treatments. For the first time in his life, Nate Liao is wearing normal clothes, eating food that has not been pureed, and playing with his siblings.

Is it ever acceptable is the question ?

Is it acceptable to judge others, especially when it is a matter of life AND not necessarily a Moral issue ?

But only remotely construed as a moral issue because of our own sexually connotative fixations upon Human Breasts ?

I mean, What are Breast's true purpose anyway ? All mammals have them.

And they weren't to be used sexually or to sell pornography.

But they were intended to nourish young infants until they developed teeth enabling the young to chew solid foods.

If one can get beyond their own fixations on aspects of human anatomy AND look at the proven scientific breakthroughs as a result of Stem Cell research for example.

Where it has been proven that many of these previously fatal illnesses are a direct result of a deficiency of a critical protein of which only the Mother can provide.

This has the makings of a major scientific breakthrough and frankly...

I cannot see why this shouldn't be considered unacceptable especially IF it is saving one's life. Especially that of a parent.
