Taiwan, China gear up for arms race
Taiwan's cabinet has approved a budget of $18.2 billion for the purchase of top-of-the-line U.S. weaponry.
(CNN) -- China's generals have stepped up efforts to seek approval from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leadership for more funds and "faster war preparation" in response to moves by Taipei to secure sophisticated weapons from the United States.

Sounds threatening, like it might actually happen, and soon. Sounds like the beginnings of another World War as well.

No world war. China would rather destroy Taiwan then have it dare be independent

Taiwan will be a smoking ruin before the U.S. can move. They will start with a barrage of missles but the U.S. would see any troops way before they can hit land.
The Chinese aren't that stupid. But they are stupid to think a nuke will be appropriate response.

I'm not too sure about that. If you think about it China would want to take Taiwan intact because of Taiwan's economic power and potential. Just think how much stuff is made in Taiwan.

Surely it would be worth more to China intact than as a crater.
