I've read this more than once on the board that it would be relatively easy for the US to invade and take over Canada. In a few hours some say. First off what would the motivation be? Well our natural resources of course. Oil, gas, water, etc. Do you think it would be that easy?

Canada is as well armed on a personal level as the States. We love our guns, we just don't go ape# over them. Think it would be easy? How did Viet Nam go? Iraq? Afghanistan? Now consider an enemy that looks like you. Speaks like you and acts like you do. Think it would be easy? You can't win a war of attrition against those that you can identify. What about an enemy that you CAN'T identify?

You want to talk terrorism? Hell, Jim Carrey could probably walk into the White house and blow the mother up. You see where I'm coming from. What aboot Mike from Canmore(regular guy). You going to stop him on the Saskatchewan or the Manitoban boarder? Plenty of easy ways to get into the States. Good luck DHS.

Is this going to happen or even likely to happen? Hell no. This is just for some that think this would be an easy go. It wouldn't be. You thought Viet Nam was tough? Iraq? Afghanistan? Try an enemy on your boarder that you can't identify. Badda BOOM. You'd be out within 2 years. You couldn't sustain what the Canadians could mount. Covertly. Yes, we could be easily run over by the US military machine but that's just the beginning. Try to hold it. We'd burn the WH down again.

As I said, this isn't for the average American. It's for the unthinking that see us as the "little brother". We're not. We don't need the US to protect us, we can take care of ourselves. Don't think so? Attack. It'll be your death knell.

Not to mention Canada can become a nuclear power in under 90 days.

Did this thread have a point outside of "supposed" bragging about gun toting Canadians??

I'm in Australia and wouldn't dream of starting a thread like that...

Not sure what you motive is other than to start some hateful replies....

My point is that some Americans think we are helpless and need their help. That they could just run over us. These are not even in the majority my Aussie friend. Just an attitude by some.

Hell, Americans in general have always thought they are the best. Its been drummed into them for generations.

Truth is they were the wealthiest and still are (for now) the most powerful.

But I still really dont see your aim other than to enrage the american members here.

Why would the United States want to invade Canada Intrepid? Or am I missing something, I have a lot of friends across the Provence's and I for one don't think that Canada would ever pose a serious threat to the United States or it's security. There's too much interdependence (both sides mind you not just one way)

I would be worried more if I were a Canadian if Quebec finally wanted it's independence like it's been barking about.

I don't ever see it happening. Yes we have the natural resources, but that alone would not be enough motivation to invade. As you said, look how things are going in Afghanistan and Iraq. Never mind Canadians being so similar to Americans and very hard to pick out, look at the map and people will realise this is no Iraq. It's the 2nd largest country in the world, plenty of places to hide, and ride out a long war as such.

Nope, don't ever see it happening. It's like Aus invading NZ. The only thing that will result in such action, would be decades of crap.

(As you said Intrepid, US & Canada are HUGE buds, so unless one of the nations goes completely bananas it's never going to happen in my lifetime)

The members that get enraged are the ones I'm talking to and they are in the minority. Canada and the US are HUGE buds. It's the "Rah Rah" boys I'm talking to. The thing is that you don't have a strong nation on your borders. Like us. Like Poland, Georgia, etc. If you had this you would understand.

I thought the US had a "strong allie" on their Northern border..

Sorry, I just don't get the point of the whole thread if all you are doing is trying to bring out the minority...

Hahaha!!!
No such thing as a "stupid" question, eh?

Sorry, but this one borders on total....forget it....lol...

Been a while since I've posted, but I had to make sure what I was reading was true on here lately...seems this site has really started to attract a "certain" type of "attitude" lately and I'm sorry to see that such things are tying up the bandwidth.

Intreped....think!!! before you post, 'k?

i understand that your frustrated because america, but seen you brag, you forgot about g20? what did you guys do to stop them? goed to peacefully protest in "special protest areas" and wondered why the cops came and surrounded you and throwed you all in jail? is that how you defend yourself? where is the anarchy? the homemade grenades, the poison?
how can you expect to be taken seriously when i see some teenage emos going to protest and think theyr cool and get arrested in 5 minutes instead of real anarchysts throwing molotov cocktails?
my cousin lives in canada since he was a baby, now the only thing he speaks every freakin day is MY IPOD and DAVID GUETTA,got even i am not such a sissy. maybe the canadian bros who work cutting trees, the folk that live in the forests, theyr pretty tough and loaded but im not sure about town folk.
there was a story about some boy and his "girlfriend",that were on the street when the g20 arrests started to happen, instead of going home they goed to some street and saw other people protested and sited there, decided to join them, the hippies. and afcourse got arrested and spend the worst night of theyr lifes. what kind of a retard would let his girlfriend go with him to protest, instead of escorting her home, and then go rebel.
weakened people listening to david guetta on theyr ipods and bringin theyr girlfriend to peacefully protest...i hope im making a mistake and canadians aint like that man. so tell me are canadians like that or not?

Can I stop laughing now? Do you really feel that threatened by the opinions of an insignificant minority that you feel it necessary to make such a pre-emptive counter claim to something not even remotely on the radar?

Seriously though, we're both great countries and owe a lot to each other. I know I don't want to take over my brothers' places, so maybe ya northerners will grant me safe passage when the SHTF? Look for the white toyota 4Runner with California plates and a few bewildered looking people inside.

Why would the US ever want to invade canada.

Its to freaking cold up there.

Mexico would be a lot better as they have some great beaches and a warm climate

Well, hmm, let's see.

US population 300 million
Canada..........30 million

Ten times more people in the US

US 1 Canada 0

US Military budget.............600 billion
Canada Military budget.......20 billion

US 2 Canada 0

Readiness of guns (domestic-non-military)

US = One locked and loaded in the pocket, and two in the pick-up truck

Canada = One unloaded, with trigger guard, and ammo stored elsewhere.

US 3 Canada 0

Provisions for soldiers

US = watery beer, weak cigarettes, Dunkin Doughnuts

Canada = real beer, strong cigarettes, Tim Horton's

US 3 Canada 4

.....so it looks like Canada wins

I dont understand the point of this thread.

And the US would never invade Canada anyway. We have no reason to. Its a dumb argument.

This is one of those "my dad can beat up your dad" threads.

Yes, we ARE a strong ally of the US. Our #1 trading partner and we are pretty much linked at the hip. Not a bad thing. We seem to be less to a minority of Americans though. We need help protecting ourselves. We are weak. We could be easily invaded. It's that mentality that this thread is dedicated to. NOT the thinking majority.

As much as I respect America and it's people (you know, for the most part) as a (relatively) proud Canadian I'd like to think I'd take up arms against the 'invaders'. I probably wouldn't though, I tend to be pretty apathetic.

I doubt the military , well the ground forces would want to cross horn's with Canadians, i guess at first they might want or assume as much but given what the Canadians do with beavers....well i would rather chill out.
