How many people did God kill in the bible?

The loving and merciful god of the bible left a fair amount of documentation about how many people he personally killed. Some of it must be intuited as the accounts don't give specific figures. Someone provided a figure using rough estimates and a fair breakdown on this web page and arrived at a figure of 33,041,220 people. This is a high estimate and others estimate a much lower figure of 2.8 million.

How many people did Satan kill in the bible?

It appears that Satan only killed 10 people: the seven sons and three daughters of Job. And he only does this because god allowed it as part of a bet!. Technically the blood is on god's hands for these as well.

Yer, this subject has been done to death on here. The end story being; God makes the Devil look like a veritable saint in comparison. Saint Satan, perhaps?

Satan runs Earth as the fallen and it is clear he runs the PTB.

Satan gets the ear of those that want power and they kill for Satan.

Not sure why people are so ignorant to this fact or quick to ignore that Satan is the puppetmaster.

well duh- of course satan would want to keep people alive sinning. your idea of death needs to be examined, not your definitions of invisible beings. havent you ever heard it called "liberation"?

Yep. And yet Christians will continue to defend the Bible despite the fact it makes their God look like a horrible genocidal tyrant.

What amazes me is that back when I was a kid, being raised as a Christian, I never questioned the absurd and evil things that the God of the Bible does. The way they spin the stories has a lot to do with it.

I think it is easier to excuse this Yahweh character for murdering adults than it is children. While certainly murdering anyone is in direct violation of his own commandments it is when he decides that children and infants must be killed that his true nature becomes apparent. I mean he's omnipotent and omniscient right? And yet the best he can come with is to kill the first born of Egypt, kill the Amalekite infants...

Good post drummer

not your definitions of invisible beings.

I don't recall defining invisible beings.

havent you ever heard it called "liberation"?

Should I change it to "how many people did god liberate?

I'm sticking to the documented deaths listed in the bible. If you'd like you can tally up a satanic death toll in a sort of post-biblical death sequel.

Sorry, I had no idea I was duplicating over done topics: my apologies. And yes, it does draw a comparison between the two. However, even leaving satan out of the equation it appears the loving, merciful god is anything but; apparently a pissed off, serial killing maniac.

Soo...

a kind of "I brought you into this world and I'll take you out" kind of thing?

True, he is sadistic when it involves children and such deaths are quite disturbing.

The real puzzler for me is why this god is regarded as the source of morality when he displays a penchant for capricious murder.

You are mistaken. God is responsible for every death that ever occurred in the history of the universe. Taking into account only humans, that would make it somewhere in the range of 100 billion currently.

However, God was also responsible for the lives of those 100 billion, not to mention the ~6 billion currently alive

the essenes and othe jewish gnostics believed that satan is god and god is beyond all our senses. to personify god with mercy and kindness is ego-projection and narcissim. but making fun of that is even worse.

who are you to 'excuse' god? the universe is a very violent and deadly place. the modern views of civilization are incongruent with natural reality. not that it stops them from trying to control it.

it is very dangerous to think the world should be like you see it in your head- you should be aware of the way it really is and adapt to it.

Oh great. Another post misrepresenting God again!!! And as always it's out of context. The same pre-digested pablum comes out again and again and again.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about how jewish gnostics interpreted things. I referenced the loving, merciful god because it is commonly referred to as such. Making fun of it is appropriate.
