GodBlock is a web filter that blocks religious content. It is targeted at parents and schools who wish to protect their kids from the often violent, sexual, and psychologically harmful material in many holy texts, and from being indoctrinated into any religion before they are of the age to make such decisions.
Most deeply religious people are born into their religion, but even children raised in a secular household are vulnerable to content on the web. That's why we've produced GodBlock. That isn't really about what this is about, well it is in a way, but it's about trying to stop them reading it when they are too young, because it is about the fact that people claim what's in the book is the truth. People will learn about it either way, it's just too wide spread to not hear about it. This is just a way of trying to stop them being exposed to it at very young ages, because that's exactly why most religious people were born into religious homes, they're given no choice essentially, I'd think it very hard for a child to refute the believes of his whole family based on the need for valid evidence, and not merely faith, a child can't make that sort of reasoned decision.
I think Religion should get a similar exemption. Sure, the 'Good Book' is full of filth like this, but Religion is such an important part of society, that we should allow children to learn about it.
His work reminds me of the kind of things atheists often s'n-word' at. The religious blocking Harry Potter books in libraries, or removing "naughty" words from dictionaries. It's just another kind of extreme knee-jerk reaction.
