Logged-in specificially in order to Star you, Randy

I see others have starred you too

As far as I can see, you and those who've starred you possess the true spirit of - ' Can Do '

The spirit of - ' Get Up From Your Hind Legs and Fight '

The spirit of - ' Freeeeeeee -dum ', which millions of Americans parrot as if by saying the word, they've not only shown they know the meaning of the word but have also put it into effect

No. The word itself means less than nothing. Is pathetic. Is cowardly, even. There's only one way to gain freedom, and that's to fight for it. And if you're going to get into a fight, you should first be prepared to be hurt. If you're not, you'd better hide under a bush and stay there. Which is what most do. And the fight is over before it's begun, with the word 'freedom' a mocking echo, a taunt to gutlessness

:/ That is a pretty narrow minded conclusion based on the meetings of two idiots both of which are probably high school drop outs.

Well one of these two was a visa officer in charge of actually issuing visas on behalf of the consulate, I doubt that he was a HS-drop-out.

Comparing the average citizen to Nazi Germany is really unfair.

----

BTW, the USA had a civil war in case you forgot about it.

I compared the USA to Pre-WW2 Nazi Germany for the very reason as how Germany during these years was "brainwashed". The average citizens were "happy". They had again jobs after a world wide depression. "Entertainment" was excellent, thanks to the Nazi controlled propaganda machine and mass media. Naturally the so called "Einheits Welle", the "uniform wave-band" broadcasting system ensured that no foreign information was to be heard or seen by the German citizens. Nothing was discussed, debated, or even offered to show the "other side of the coin". And if you mouthed off, then your "patriotism" was seriously questioned by the GESTAPO.
Germany's "9-11" was the burning of the Reichstag in 1934, which then empowered a "minority leader", Mr. Hitler to obtain "special powers". Naturally he blamed it on "terrorists" - well he used the term Anarchist back then. When I saw the WTC towers fall, I said to myself that this was America's "1934 Reichstag incident".
Just watching them fall told me in an instant that this was not due to the planes impacts and consequent fires. This was an "inside" job. Way before the 9-11 truth movement began to take shape, - actually the very same weekend after 9-11 I already discussed the footage of the WTC collapse. And also here are many threads concerning 9-11, one issue seems to be always omitted, - WIND-Pressure. Even with the "pan-cake" theory of floors collapsing upon each other, with the increased height the wind should have forced the towers, or at least parts of them to fall SIDEWAYS, but no, they just collapsed so perfectly in almost free-fall velocity.
I am not an architect but a mechanical engineer and a former commercial pilot. And one thing I do KNOW is winds aloft and their effect. And also the issue of wind pressure was even for mechanical engineers the 1st lesson.
So why was the "obvious" not picked up even by the "few" that claim to be critical?
Back to pre-war Germany and the parallels to the present USA. In average out of the number of American friends that I have, I can say 5 out of 100 in average prefer to watch PBS to any other TV stations. This then gives one the understanding of the USA population being pretty much as brainwashed as their German counterparts in the 1930's. These 5% of Americans watching PBS instead of CNN or Fox, compare to the Nazi Germany of the 30's to those 5% Germans that risked tuning in to stations like BBC to get to know the actual events of the world's affairs.
The Romans used this trick too, "Bread and Games" - feed the people "somewhat" and "entertain" them in the amphitheaters with mindless Gladiator slaughter.
Or as the saying went in Austria prior to WW1, "the Emperor keeps the people poor and the pope keeps them dumb".
And this translates in the apathy of the general populace to "do something". So the TPTB can nicely operate right under the noses of their citizens and cook up all kind of BS and the "patriotic citizens" will obey.

Also I did not forget the US civil war. It was the only war in which the US lost more lives than in any foreign war. However a civil war is not to be compared to a "real" war where a foreign power or a foreign interest group decides to "let you have it".

More in next reply ...

If US citizens never get a 'whiff' of what's truly going on in the world (due to government control, media blackout, or whatever cause), then how can ordinary US citizens be held accountable for what they do not know?
[edit on 12-8-2010 by gazerstar]

There is a disconnect here...

What I meant in my original statement was... does anybody in the US have an idea what its like to walk 5 miles each day for a few liters of drinking water? What it is like to see a ones children (plural) die of starvation or lack of proper medical care? Pay money to corrupt government officials to get one's loan sanctioned? To have entire families vanish without a trace? To live in constant fear of being raped by the very people they look up to protection?

These are all realities for much of the people in this world.

2nd post ...

I make a big difference between a civil war on one side and an actual foreign war, be it by a regular invasion force or some behind the lines operations.
Europe fought for what one can remember in history. Only WW2 pretty much put a damper on the otherwise warring countries.
During WW1, Germany and Austria/Hungary sure suffered from the embargoes and blockades, however the "slaughter" remained far away from the civilian eyes.
WW2 changed all this. The mechanization of the military and especially the use of air-power exposed the civilians of ALL countries at war, safe of Canada and the USA, - (Even the Ozzie got a few bombs onto Darwin) -
When one interviews WW2 generation people in Europe, the PTSD is evident in military veterans as well civilians throughout Europe in which actual battles happened. SO if part of France got bombed into submission by the Luftwaffe during the invasion, the same French country side was bombed clean of German resistance during the Liberation, so the French or the Poles and other countries got it two times. It is this insanity and horror that has today many who have lived through those years considering peaceful solutions ahead of military ones. - safe of a few "die-hard" who kind of "miss" the war. It is the new generation of these countries that are today rather asking again for "military options". Not that they have "forgotten" but they have never experienced the war and only know it from the history books and from what PSTD suffering mom or dad or grand-dad told them.
Once war becomes a "collective" experience, meaning mom and baby and grand-pa "shi**ing collectively their pants" only then will a new will and solution for peace become the credo of an people.

On a side note:
Also I am originally from Austria, I am a citizen of Canada. And here in Canada we have stretch of the Trans Canada HWY named the "HWY of the heroes". This is the stretch on which our fallen soldiers from Afghanistan travel from arriving in coffins at an Air Base to where their remains are to be handed over to their families.
Here too the mass media cries out "heroes". I call it the "HWY of fools". So my criticism is not just focused on the USA, but also on our politicians and "sheeples" who support this insane agenda.

There is a large issue here. The american populace on this site says, don't hate on us we can't do anything, whilst their government is not only destroying the world but its own peoples homes and communities.

It's like being bitten by a dog, you don't put down the owner, you put down the dog. In this case the american people own a rather vicious dog.
But they won't do anything except to say, its not our fault.

So vicious is this dog that even the owners of it live in constant fear of it, if even the owners of this dog fear it, and no one can put it down, then what hope does anyone in the world have.

It is only a matter of time before their dog starts getting hungry again, if their economy takes a bad enough plunge, I honestly think they will start many more wars.

Americans please put down your dog, write, protest, email, have a civil war it is the only thing that can be done. Your dog is dangerous, to us and to you.....

Jokes apart.. as americans, you need not worry about being 'hated' by the sane ppl of the world.
Sure some may think of you are childish, ignorant/arrogant.. but nobody hates you..
In fact, as a non Caucasian, non white, non american, I honestly feel that the american ppl are the most loving/non biased, non racial people around.
No doubt about it, and especially amongst other western/developed cultures/countries. bravo.

The whacko beardo weirdos do hate america.. but then everyone hates them too..

There are 3 types of America haters. well not really haters all of them but anti-americanists nonetheless. I can try to explain my point of view on that in a followup post.

They aren't any kind of 'torch bearers' . They aren't any kind of leading light of democracy . Who would ever envisage such a notion that they are , cept for Americans and the gullible . They have only been around a couple of hundred years and we have pretty much managed to have survived throughout the centuries with or without their help . I don't mind their stabs at freedom and democracy , but on a global scale , it's not such a monumental thing . Certainly nowhere near the kind of importance they attach to it. It's like a clapped out old ford owner praising his old beat up car in a road full of bmw and mercedes owners .

and stay out of policing the entire earth. We Americans don't own it.
I think that almost everyone on earth can protect and police their own
countries. We don't have to spend trillions of dollars on killing and forcing
our beliefs and democracy and way of life down the throats of everyone
who wants a little different way of living. So what if a country has a
different style of life and government than us? We don't have any right
to tell anyone on earth how to exist. I am so sick of this as an American
that I will probably be upchucking my morning biscuit very soon.

I just want to retire in peace and not have to listen to killing and wars and
hunger and famine and hatred and who's color or religion or language is
different than mine. I believe that this coming November will be the start
of something newer and hopefully better for all of us here in America.
We will soon find out who is lieing to us in great detail. I also believe we
will get a lot of change that we can be thankful for, and that hopefully we
will be put in a different light to the rest of the world.

Peace to all brothers and sisters on earth.

Very well said. This can be said to the UK too. The UK government need to spend more time addressing the problems of their own country and getting their own house in order and yet they seem to be more concerned with invading the middle east with their pals from over the pond.

Thanks for the replies. It is true that there are quite a few war-mongers,
racists and hateful people here in the US, but I am talking about the
vast majority of us who aren't. There are really bad people in literally
every country on earth, but I am talking in generalities. Most of us are
fed up with what is going on in this country and I was only trying to
ask the rest of the planet to not be so harsh on the average Joe who
is having to put up with all the crap happening. If it were up to the average
citizen, there wouldn't be wars, hunger, and racism. But in the interim,
we are mostly bashed about from a lot of non-Americans. Not all of
course, but people seem to feel it is the citizens who are in control of
all the bad things going on. We just want to be left alone and have peace
for once.

I would love to be able to come to England and Ireland and lots of other
neat places in Europe and Asia, but most people here in the US are very
afraid to venture overseas because we have all been stereotyped as
bad people. It is not safe at all for Americans to travel much nowadays.

Don't come to the UK, apart from some old buildings it's over-rated and socialised to the hilt.
Take it from a UK denizen.

I disagree. London is one city you have to visit. It's one place on earth where people from different cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life, can come together and unite, and share the positive aspects of life with one another. I absolutely love the “London buzz” and would not trade it for anything. It’s a very diverse city with so much to see and do, and taste and learn. I would be utterly bored living somewhere where the people looked just like me and where the food was always the same and not having the opportunity to learn about other cultures first hand. With knowledge comes understanding, and with understanding comes acceptance, people feel socially integrated with society, and not made an outcast. An understanding of one another is all we need to help overcome ignorance and hatred which some people have towards others, as sad as it is for them.

Pay London a visit, I am sure you will enjoy your time here.

1) Job situation worse than it is here.

It's about the same. If anything, it's worse in the US, as a bigger population competes for jobs which are thin on the ground.

2) Sharia Law spreading there.

Only in permitted areas, and even then it only applies to Muslims and sometimes non-Muslims who wish to abide by it.

As it does not affect you, I don't see what your problem is. Unless you are just intolerant of other faiths of course.

Jewish law is also existent in this country, does that worry you too? Or is it simply Muslims and their law that gets on your nerves?

Rubbish. It's perfectly acceptable to defend yourself in your home, as long as you don't shoot a Burgular in the back who has ran out of your house with a shotgun and as long as you don't chase a burgular out of your home and precede to stab him repeatedly to death.

There's reasonable force, and then there's unreasonable force.

4) Higher taxes there which is REALLY hard to believe.

haha, just you wait and see.

5) The cost of living there is about double to triple where I am now.

Again, wait and see.

6) Ppl from the US get a VERY bad welcome from some there.

I'm sure people from the US would get a very bad reception from some people in the US itself.

Stop using the reception of some as an excuse. It does not hold water.

7) I think I got better odds of survival here if we hit a global
depression which looks likely, engineered or not.

Your country has a bigger population. if TSHTF, there will be a lot of desperate people who will do anything to survive. 300 million to be precise. Still fancy your chances?

to avoid the huge fuel taxes, and I'd likely be one of them.
They have not cracked down on bio-diesel here yet.

Well, if you get caught, you get caught. If you don't, you're laughing.

a job to get me to leave the US for the 5th time.

Which means you are not really looking. You don't want to leave your family and friends.

Now I understand the excuses, the majority of which are ill-informed.

You don't want to leave your family and friends, and that is very understandable.

But please don't come up with silly excuses about how Americans will not get a good reception by some people in the UK, or that you can't defend yourself and that you don't like Sharia Law and blah blah blah.

Just say you'll miss your family and friends. That's the truth, and it's understandable for you to say so.

That's what it comes down to.

And listing excuses about why you don't want to leave the US for the UK which are at the worst ignorant, at the best half-truth, and in between are weak excuses if I have ever heard them, simply is silly.

No offence, but nobody is going to scold you, or laugh at you for saying you will miss your family and friends, so why the silly excuses as to why you don't want to go to the UK instead?

Come on!

God, the British abroad are an absolute embarrassment! A total disgrace to the "good" British people. I'm British myself and I avoid them at all costs abroad. Some of their behaviour is inexcusable and shows an absolute lack of respect for the country they are visiting. All these fools should have their passport taken away from them.

I would like to make a few points in answer to your post.

1) America ( U.S.A.) is made up of people who's ancestors came from every other country in the world. It is a microcosm of the people of Earth.

Yes that's true, but it's also silly when I then hear: "Oh I'm part Italian, so we have a lot in common!"

* Tell that to our 40 million Latinos or 15 million Chinese, 8 million Caribs, etc.

2) Humanity as a whole has been slaughtering each other since we became sentinent, it is in our genetic makeup.

And while this is completely idealistic and wishful, dreamland thinking: I wish we would be grown up enough to realize that it's not helping us, our family, neighbours, county, state, nation or world. Just our egos.

It should not be an excuse.

* We are trying to civilize ourselves. As far as the U.S. goes, While a lot of us are focused on blaming our politicians for all our troubles, it is we as a people who are at fault.

3)The USA is a mirror of humanity, praise it or demean it, your just talking about yourself.

No, because humanity has a vast variety of cultures that value different ideals and philosophies.
I'm not saying any one is better than the other, but the USA is NOT a mirror to the rest of the world. Really... go travel if you don't believe me.

* I disagree, I am well traveled. I have seen the same cultural attitudes, ceremonies, handicrafts, etc. in the U.S. as practiced in a citizens country of origin.

4) We ( humanity ) are caught up in a race for resources. America has been at the forefront of this race for awhile now. Same as the British Empire, The Roman Empire, etc.

And it's only going to get worse and increase tensions. All of those empires you mentioned have collapsed, as will the USA if it does establish itself as such an empire. Power and greed will piss off enough people until s# hits the fan. It's not a solution and we need to learn from history.

* True but my point was that humanity as a whole is always striving. It is not just the U.S. We will lose our first place position soon enough, and another country will take our place. But if we're pushed hard enough we'll make the Nazi's look like a bunch of kindergartners. One nut job in the White House who needs a popular war to fix the economy and the SHTF.

5) The USA is in danger of losing the top spot. We have the biggest gun. Do you really want to piss us off?

It's not a matter of pissing you off, it's about trying to find a better solution to what's happening in the world.

* You missed my point completely but I'm not going to get preachy.

I say this not to anger you. Some Americans will bend over backwards to change this quagmire we find ourselves in. Hence, they will build a Mosque at ground zero, to show the rest of the world we're big enough to say we don't blame Islam just Terrorism. Do you really think Islamic Terrorist' really care? Do any of you really understand the Islamic terrorist have killed 100 times more Muslims than Americans or Britians or French, etc.

There has to be balance, for sure. Building a Mosque at Ground Zero is a terrible idea, simply because you have to respect the families of the victims. It's not like we turned Auschwitz or other death camps into a synagogue.

* Not a terrible idea, there were Muslim and Jewish victims of 9/11. Building a Mosque AND a Synagogue would be a better idea.
