I was reading this incredible article about the discovery an ancient civilization in the Amazon forests and then it hit me.

They discovered this civilization because of cutting down the Amazon.

Essentially, the remnants of this society were hidden completely by the forestry, since you could only see them from elevation and the forest obfuscated that.

Now that the forest area of that civilization has been cleared, we know about it.

Cool story, I have mixed feelings about it also.

There's only 20% of the worlds rainforests left... Pretty scary.
