Now, the FBI seems to be yet another victim of this recession. Apparently, their forensic lab has an excessive backlog? In the article, the inspector
general has seen a significant increase in the past year with samples sent to the lab for analysis.
. . . the backlog, which has increased sharply in the past year, can cause delays in legal proceedings that must await DNA analysis results.

I have said in other threads that a crime epidemic seems to be in the works from the white collar crook and the lowly petty criminal. They are having
a smorgasbord of crime at present with state and local municipalities cutting law enforcement.
The crooks and criminals see the unease among law enforcement and justice with budget cuts, over-work, and manpower shortages. This is all tied in to
the economic collapse taken place at the moment. Moreover, when the FBI comes out and says they are having difficulties with their case-loads,
something serious is astray.
They are the elite law enforcement agency in the country and are experiencing problems akin to state and local law enforcement across the country.
Perhaps, the FBI's budget is as strained as other government agencies and is taking on water? This is a sign of the times and a prelude of what is to
come. I am seeing an unhealthy trend of failure in law and order from the Federal, State, and local levels.
This stalemate will hinder justice of the innocently incarcerated and those who are guilty of heinous crimes. Moreover, people who may not have been
predisposed to crime may be taking up the endeavor because of the anger, depression, and hopelessness they feel because of the economy and the way we
are being governed at the moment? This is no recession but a depression to surpass all others. It may very well be the collapse of Western
Civilization as we know it? Everything seems to be taking on water from the markets to government institutions.
The FBI says they plan to hire more workers and phase in an electronic evidence tracking system to address this failure. However, it seems like
another drop in the bucket as crime continues to increase to astronomical levels. There is something astray within society and a shift taking place as
a result of the mess we are experiencing at the moment? As the average Joe toils with the classified ads and sending hundreds of resumes; business is
booming for criminals. That seems to be the trend?
