I think it's a great post myself and one that could turn into another of those 16+ pagers.

I would vote for him. In a New York minute. Coming from a card carrying Pagan that will probably sound very strange, but I DO believe in Jesus as a person. Always have. And I have nothing but pure respect for the man.

Jesus, as I understand him (and going mainly on what my heart tells me) was the greatest man ever to grace this planet of ours. I think with him as president we would finally see an end to pure and utter greed and the good guy always finishing last. I'm sure there would be no more of this "few hogging all the pie while so many suffer" crap. Which would (Oh perish the thought !!!!) put an end to people like Sam Walton and Bill Gates endless raking in of such unnecessary obscene amounts of money.

I think a lot more people would be happier and lead FAR less stressful lives as they wouldn't be required to work 60 hours a week at their "jobs" and still not be able to make ends meet. Families would be happier as they would be able to spend alot more quality time together.

Jesus I feel was an extremely fair-minded person and I believe that because of this basic facet to his character that we would see a whole lot more fairness in this world. To those of you would shriek "Communists !!!", I say if that is what it takes to make life better for an awful lot of people who work their tails off with little reward to show for it, then so be it.

Would he win ? I don't know. It would seem he would have the backing of a LOT of working class people, but then again, who knows ? People are fickle and strange in the best of times and it's beyond me to try and figure out what makes most people tick.

I can definitely say though, that if Jesus ran for president, I would probably vote again for the first time in years.

If Jesus ran for president - and I can't see this happening any time soon - he probably would win, as Christians would feel compelled to vote for him as their "Lord and Saviour". People on the Left would vote for him, because like it or not, Jesus was as close to a socialist as anyone who lived at the time, or for centuries afterwards. He believed in equality and redistribution of wealth: The basic principles of socialism.

In a nation of atheists, the result might well be different. If Jesus stood as a presidential candidate with no ties to any religion, or any claims that he was the Messiah, his ideas would be just too radical and left wing. He would be ridiculed and branded a communist-hippy-liberal by the political right wing.

To those who suggest Jesus was not a real person, he was. He lived 2000 years ago in Judea. Writings by Muslims, Jews and the Romans all refer to him. Jesus was not an invention of the writers of the Bible.

Slightly off topic - Although I do not hold many Christians in high regard, especially fundamentalists, I have great respect for the philosophy Jesus stood for and the way of life he preached. I believe Christianity is a good way to live, but I cannot believe in it, or in any other religion which worships a superior being of whom there is no concrete evidence. This is partly because I don't understand how Jesus managed to save humanity through his own death. As far as I have been told, he died for our sins. As far as I know, he died because he was seen as a threat to Roman and Jewish rule. Anyone care to explain how Jesus transferred all our sins onto himself?

Honestly now, would Jesus win?

Being that he would be running from a third party platform most likely he wouldn't get on too many ballots. Also the platform he'd be running from would most likely be based on the bible and most people wouldn't appreciate the disapproval of homosexuality.

I can see it now in the way that you see something only after the use of hallucinoginic drugs:

Wolf Blitzer: Welcome to the 1st presidential debate for the election year of 2012 with us we have the candidates from the Republican, Democrat, and Christian parties. From left to right respectively, Satan, Hillary Clinton, and Jesus

Now each candidate will be allowed an opening remark for 30 secs

Satan: My plan for the middle east includes the destruction of all oil fields so we must destroy the environment in Alaska to quench our thirst for oil, oh did I forget to mention that I hate Gay people?

(Hold for applause)

Hillary Clinton: Actually I'm with Satan on this one, Heck, I should just be his running mate

(Hold for Standing Ovation)

Jesus: My policy, if elected president, will focus around my campaign slogan I've been using since the start of my run for the presidency. "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You". I believe my optimisim and the fact that I'm a deity will definately help this....

Wolf Blizter: Jesus your time is up, oh and back in 2004 John Kerry and John Edwards tried to use optimism in their campaign and what did it get them? Four more years of Bush as president who was then assasinated in 2007 which allowed Satan to become president.
