I have as much of a morbid curiosity as the next person--I think a morbid curiosity about death & death images is part of being human, because we're
all gonna die some day.
But sites like ogrish.com, -------------------------, etc. that post "death photos" are disgusting. Because there are real families attached to those real photos
of real death--and it's hurtful. There is no respect shown for the families or the victim, it's just "death porn" designed to drive internet
traffic.
The case can be made that under freedom of the press, these sites have the right to show whatever they want. Fine. But if they are so keen on
parading images of other people's immense suffering, why not start with pictures from their own family--if it's not a big deal, why not show Aunt
Nellie's autopsy photos before showing Chris Farley's?
I feel very uneasy about sites like this, that I hold to such a high regard, hosting pictures of things like the latest beheaded hostage Johnson. I
haven't revisted that link on ATS, but I see that "graphic content" has been added. So I am not sure ATS is showing the photos or simply linking
them off-site. But in any event, all I can do is just say my peace and not click on that particular link.
I know that showing photos like that of poor Mr. Johnson can be listed under: "showing the true horror of war." But if that was my own father in
that video, or if my brother was Nick Berg, the amount of anger I would have towards sites hosting such photos & videos would be large.
just my two cents.
