I just wanted to give the heads up to everyone here that the crowd over at 4chan (Anonymous) will be attempting a mass UFO sighting "troll" soon. In the coming days, they plan to report to as many media outlets as they can sightings of triangular shaped craft emitting a blue hue. If you hear of such reports, or reports of "tri-force" shaped craft (think Legend of Zelda and the three triangles stacked into a pyramid), then you'll know that it was most likely just an elaborate internet hoax.

Edit: I'll just write out what was in the message here:

On the 8th we will be the masterminds behind what is perhaps the greatest extra terrestrial hoax in history. This will be executed any time after 1:00pm, but not after 1:45pm. It is a worldwide /b/ operation. At the stated time you will call any tabloid you can (radio, tv, etc) and claim to see a "mysterious triangle floating in the sky". Research suggests that there has been a rise in triangle-UFO reportings, and this fits well. The tri-force is our basic description, but do not describe it to be exactly like the tri-force! Details such as a "blue aura" should be used.

Only if you are an advanced troller and know how to get away with calling emergency services, should you do so. If you have to Google this, then do not call emergency services. At all.

Anon reminds that this is a world wide operation, check times relevant to your country. Discuss for further details.

Get Christians involved by referring to the Bible. Apparently, Isaiah 8:8 states: "It will spill into Judah, flooding and engulfing, as it reaches to the necks of it's victims. he will spread his wings out over your entire land."

Use it, say that "it was written".

Rules 1&2 apply. (i.e. Fight Club rules)

I see I have offended some of you 4channers, too bad! I have respect for the researchers in this field, I know how hard they work and I know the amount of derision they receive when hoaxes like this are pulled off. I'm not going to sit around and let them destroy what little credibility this field has left. Why would you even come to this board if you support people doing such things?

edit: As for stars and flags, I couldn't care less. If you look at my posting history, you'll see this is the first thread I ever started, and I don't post often. I'm a lurker, and lurked here for years before I even signed up. I usually don't have much to add to threads, and just like catching up on current events and reading the thoughts of others on said events.

Or he doesn't want people to believe in things that are admitted hoaxes.

I saw a "mysterious triangle floating in the sky" yesterday from my basement, it emits a bluish aura and hover for few seconds then vanish while I scramble to get my camera.

Just looking if anyone saw it too, please post it here. I'm looking for more report about this.

(what ? i got it wrong time and in the basement ? FAIL ! )

What a jerk huh! I cant believe somebody would have the nerve to try to inform people about a large scale hoax.

sarcasm off....

Can you please elaborate on why warning people that take the field of ufology seriously, about a very large scale hoax, offends you?

OK...a pratt writes.

WTF is going on here and would someone care to explain?

As far as I can work it, in one corner we've got some bloke (or group) called 4chan and in the other some other bloke called torgo and who don't "like" each other.

So as an uninitiated....would a "sensible" person care to lay this out, otherwise this is just more BS from assorted nut jobs who seem to think that they make sense...this is the polite version.

And for the SM "conspiracy within conspiracy" players...look, I just want to see good UFO stuff and no flack from assorted losers trying to justify their lack of whatever.

4chan is an imageboard, a sort of forum where you post pictures along with what you're saying.

They're also malicious in some sense, and a large number of the people on the board want to fake a mass UFO sighting with the hopes of the media reporting on a UFO that looked like Zeldas triforce.

They're also well known for standing outside scientology churches looking pathetic wearing guy fawkes masks for no reason.

It's a little more complicated and nuanced than that and anyone underestimating them and/or not recognizing their intrinsic worth to this thing we call the internet is doing themselves a disservice. TED certainly doesn't.

Yes they push the boundaries but someone needs to do so ... for without pushback momentum goes in one direction only.

As far as their shenanigans ... some are virtuous some far from it, some work some don't.

The only real problem they're having these days is keeping their trollperations secret.

No, they are pretty much worthless.
The majority of things they do are childish pranks.

Their "attacks" on the Australian government consisted of junk faxes, prank calls, E-mailing porn, and other things to that effect.

Although I'd love to see some good being done by a huge group of internet users, I'm not seeing it in 4chan in the slightest.

When you lie to people, you steal reality from them.

It is right and good to restore reality or prevent such a theft.

Thank you OP.

I hope this doesn't get back to 4chan, if their plan fails and they find this thread....
they are not known for their decorum.

Torgo maybe you should think before posting well in advance of a troll/raid, maybe 12:30 on the day would of been better?

What is 4chan anyway? Or anonymous?
Bah nevermind, maybe I am getting old and can't get the new trends on internet anymore...

So how exactly did you get hold of this information? Have you been "infiltrating" anon? You realize that you're breaking rules 1 & 2, right? You're likely to bring their wrath down upon you, if not on all ATS.

On a tangential topic, I'm interested to see what will actually happen; maybe the vast, multi-point report will actually cause the craft to manifest in some way. It would go a long way to proving various consciousness-based-reality theories.

Inc Desu Desu carpet bombing or alien based rule 34's.

Yea what they do is childish compared too what we imagine a "highly leet" group of hackers would do

However /b/ is the only group willing to take action when its needed that im aware off. They get alot of bad rep since they do stuff simply "for the lulz" but are also responsible for some rather notable events such as the DDoS on the aussie government and fox news, helping catch child molesters and animal abusers and getting Rick Astley MTVs best act ever award =)

Also keeping rule 1 & 2 these days is damn near impossible with 4chans rising fame lol. Best get some dog curtains in.

Haha, just what we need!

More smoke and mirrors.

At any rate, thanks for the heads up.

Anon will know you gave a warning.
I know im not the only one serving up
copypasta about the "mass sighting hoax", but I, sadly, dont think
anything will happen. /b/ fails too hard now to do anything.
Although lulz could be had. I love Anon, and I like it here too
(lurked for a few years, but never cared to post), but just
because we (you) know of a hoax, why stop it?

If pulled off, it could some more aware, even if they know it was a hoax.
It could send the people a message that they should look up into the sky every
now and then, and be amazed at what they could see.

On the other hand, it could turn into a #storm.

Oh, and rules 1 and 2 only apply to raids, to any ITT that called 1 and 2.

4chan/b/ peeps are some of the most worthless,
hopeless little people on the entire internet/planet...
and that's saying something.. lol

Seriously,
it is like the worlds largest magnet for completely ignorant, douches.

anyway, I agree that it would be kinda cool,
as it actually might get people looking up! lol

But I seriously doubt those cats will be able to "pull it off". lol
Hoaxes do SUCk, and those people definitely suck...

But it would be an interesting... hmm... ?experiment? or uhmm..
hmm..
I dunno..

like that one poster said (sorry, i forget the name)
maybe it will actually manifest something spectacular into the sky! lol
Prolly not..
I cant see any of them peeps being able to focus their intention that well. lol

whateva'.lol
, thanks OP,
