US Aircraft Carrier to Exercise in Yellow Sea

www.globalsecurity.org

The Pentagon announced Thursday that the U.S. aircraft carrier George Washington will participate in planned exercises with South Korean forces in the Yellow Sea, between the Korean Peninsula and China. The announcement comes in spite of strong objections from China.

Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell made the announcement, saying the carrier's return to the Yellow Sea will be part of the series of U.S.-South Korean air and naval exercises that started late last month east of the peninsula.

Well, according to Dr. Park, we should all be holding our collective breath right now.

Who is Dr. Park you say? Look at the link of the thread posted below.

I thought the US had backed down on drilling in the Yellow Sea, even commented on some threads on how the US caved in to Chinese pressure.

I will let you know how the crow taste after I am done eating it.

The interesting aspect will be China's reaction to this 'provocation'.

Stay tuned, boys and girls, things seem to be heating up!

And, if China wanted to hold excercises in the Gulf of Mexico?

Although the Gulf of Mexico is somewhat similar to the Yellow Sea physically, the geo-political aspects are not.

If China had an Alliance with Mexico that extended to their military, and they had drills off the coast of Mexico, there is nothing the US could do but watch.

And offer harsh words for this 'provocation'. About the same as China.

But this is not happening in a vacuum, and China's recent naval expansion and military developments have some SE Asian countries worried about China's intentions. Especially concerning the Spratly Islands.

This has been an area of contention for some time, and is a potential flashpoint for future conflicts.

It would be ridiculous for the U.S to go into NK if they're supposed to be going after Iran soon, these countries aren't iraqs and afghanistans, they have real armies and one has nuclear arms.

To balance your arguement out:

And if Mexico and China wanted to hold exercises in the Mexican/International waters around the Golf of Mexico?

China has muscle, but not militari-political range/reach, only along consumo-industrial lines does it span the world. But, lets say they made a statement along these lines... and brought over a nucular powered ACC over to the Golf of Mexico. The US may raise a stink, cause a LOT of anti-Chinese news and thoughts (from fear), and China would loose millions in people buying less and less of the goods that are exported to the US. But all in all, if it was Mexican or International waters, we would just watch them (closely)... and maybe ask if we can play too.

My current thoughts on this, that are no longer current or my thoughts.

Meh... This is the SAME U.S who went into Iraq instead of Syria and NK.
