Hi,
I can't quote exact figures, but from what I've read over the years it would appear that around every 30 million years or so our solar system
reaches this Galactic Plane. Apparently this is because our solar system.. maybe our local galactic sector (?) moves like a rollercoaster up and down.
At times when it moves "down", we move into a denser area of the galaxy, and it is during these times that some large devastations have occured in
the past.
Apparently, we are again within that range.. moving into that range where such things occur.
I'm sure one of ATS's brilliant scientifically minded members could qualify or refute this info for you.
