US billionaires pledge 50% of their wealth to charity

www.bbc.co.uk

At last a little bit of common sense and decency for a change...

Thirty-eight US billionaires have pledged at least 50% of their wealth to charity through a campaign started by investor Warren Buffet and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

It is nice to see that those who have created wealth and then have benefitted from it also have a 'Moral' Compass as well...

I mean what is the point of earning billions if you don't do something of use with it.....

I prdict this is the start of an age of sharing and Hopefully less of GREED and selfishness....

As much as I would like to applaud this action, I already know that despite these billions (on top of the quadrillions donated over this and past generations), this money will have little impact on poverty as a whole around the world.

Throwing money at a problem is not the solution. Buying fish for the entire world does not teach a single person how to fish.

Call me cynical.
Let's see where the money goes.
If and when it goes.
A nice big organised charity, smashing!
Why do we allow billionaires anyway?
We should be taking the money off of these people,
and not be waiting for handouts.
Sad really.

Please be advised, this topic has been brought up in BAN before:

Asks U.S. billionaires give away at least half of the wealth.
