All societies bury their leaders in some form of pomp and ceremony.

Not necessarily Kandinsky.

A fair number of ancient tribes or cultures, used to actually consume their leaders after a period of kingship...usually 7 years.

The ritualistic sacrifice and consumption of the king's body, was meant to confer the 'greatness' and nobility of the king to the people.

Not all ancient peoples buried their leaders, many simply ate them!

The other explanation for why there are no depictions or tombs found of these ancient leaders would be simply that there may not have been any leaders or kings.

They could have had an advanced egalitarian society, where everyone was equal, and had no requirement of desire to be ruled.

Fingerprints of the Gods By Graham Hancock investigates this site quite thoroughly, anyone who this thread interests really should pick up a copy of the book.

If im not mistaken there have been some very unusual finds at this site in the past and their significance ignored. There is no way conventional archeologists are going to change their historical timeline now to include an older civilisation.

They already know that there was a civilisation who was very advanced who rose suddenly out of nowhere and then disappeared again. They admit they don't know how the calender systems of the Maya etc. came about.

The lie has been told for too long, their egos just don't permit a change in theory as big as this.

Edit To Add:

They lowered a small camera into the four-metre-wide corridor, which had been carved out of the rock early in Teotihuacan's history, and got the first glimpse of the space that they say was intentionally closed off between AD 200 and 250.

The city was built by a relatively little-known culture that reached its height between 100 BC and AD 750. It was abandoned by the time the Aztecs arrived in the area in the 1300s and gave it the name "Teotihuacan", which means "the place where men become gods".

I would jsut love to know how they arrived at these dates.

Personally, my view of it is that of an ancient airport perhaps.. I have no problem accepting their creation stories and other general stories as some form of fact. Their gods coming from the sky and such. In reality, i'm thinking this existed and belonged to a more advanced civilization long before they discovered it. I vision "ships" or what have you landing on the large temple and corresponding smaller ones. Perhaps the stepped sides are that indeed, steps for giants!... There are many stories of "giants" in all of the "mythological" books.

The only real truth is that we don't know the truth! Everything is speculation, theory and is up for grabs. Just because "sciencE" gives us their explanation doesn't mean it's correct and we should take their explanation and build upon it. Frankly, we should question mainstream science more than anything as they are funded by the very schools that NEED it to have a "scientific" answer that fits the current paradigm to justify their jobs.

Intuitively, I don't feel that these were built as "tombs".. Why build a tomb for somebody who would never see it finished when said ruler knows many more will rule immediately following his death? Just doesn't make sense.

The problem I have with finds like this is that we're always told about these things when the tunnels are still being emptied out. When things are done, and everything is cataloged, we're not told a thing. If there's something significant found, we're kept in the dark. There are certain groups that will be told everything, but we're not in that group. It's annoying when we're told when things start, but are never told about findings, and what all was found. I think that's my biggest problem with archeology. Doctors with egos simply shouldn't be allowed to work at these sites because they refuse to allow the common people to see and experience any of the findings.

This article is a fantastic example of it. We have a single picture with literally no context, or scale. We are told about 60,000+ artifacts, but are not shown a single shard or fragment. We are told they used laser mapping, but weren't shown a single map that is partial or completed. They said in the article that the entrance was where they thought it would be, but never told us how they came to that conclusion.

This is the 21st century, if we all choose to use the whole Christian time measurement thing. These people ought to have a blog. There ought to be daily updates with new findings. We ought to be able to go scope out their profiles and see their prior work. We ought to be able to see pictures of literally everything they pull out of the ground. There ought to be maps showing us where these tunnels go and how they relate to above ground structures. They already have security (I'm guessing here) so it's not like release of this information would be detrimental to the dig or artifacts. If security is the issue, then it's time to step up their game. They don't need to be keeping literally everyone in the dark because of a little issue like security.

The reason they find it so hard to find quality funding is that they are all idiots and fail to realize that if they actually got the public involved, they'd have a source of funding unlike anything they ever dreamed of. Lots of people really like this stuff (me included) and would drops some money into a PayPal account for them. Now multiply that by interested people around the planet.

These people intentionally keep everyone ignorant to what's going on because of "the way it's always been done" is that they don't tell anyone but the people who pay the bills. It is impossible to deny ignorance when these archeologists refuse to properly inform us of their findings.

Your post just made me think, what makes them think it is a tomb at all I mean maybe yet another correlation between the Americas and Giza may be made here if there is no body like the great pyramid no body but yet is still called a tomb, if this is the case here maybe it will allow us a greater understanding of both. Either way this truly is exciting. PS hehe maybe thats were jimmy hoffa ended up jk

Great find and great timing! I just finished watching a documentary about the Maya and 2012, the best one that I have seen so far. Along with the usual 2012 things they mention that their nine gods are to come from the underworld around this time. I had heard a brief mention in passing in another video but nothing in any depth before. It is also interesting that the Imam Mahdi is supposed to appear from a cave or grotto soon. Coincidence?

This is the sort of story that led me to join ATS.
Very cool.
Hopefully the archeological teams will keep people informed as they progress in excavating this site.

Maybe its actually their garbage dump ? , throw something there and buried it. We dig and claim its a tomb. The kids fall and stuck there I guess.

Throw all you dont want here

Probably these are not kids after all ? They're the aliens that teach them the tech and worshiped as gods ?
Hmm looks like circular spaceship

Probably its their wine cellars ? Priest who think "storing wine with dead kids yield youth water" belief.
Broken wine vases

Hmm so much to make up

Aren't these tombs always intentionally sealed? Seems like sensationalism to me...

But, all hyping aside, the actual discovery is a great one. It doesn't need hype to be something worth keeping an eye on. Its too bad the work being done is only preliminary, and we probably wont see and conclusive reports for EVER

Hiya Spikey, you'll have to link me up to some sources for these points...

It's a nice idea, but look at any species in the animal kingdom and there's a hierarchy. When we set about organising the construction of villages, towns and cities there has to be a hierarchy or there'd be nothing done. It takes specialisation and organisation of resources...commission architects, quarry stone, provide food, train the workforce and manage it all. The people with the dreams and ideas need to be connected to the engineers that make the dreams possible.

Oh man... thats amazing, sometimes I don't believe these stories on first glimpse and I have to re read it a couple of times before it sinks in. Looking at how impressive the architectural achievements above ground are at Teotihuacan we can only imagine what lies in the 'holier' places below the earth.

ETA: Let's just hope this isn't where the inhabitants of Teotihuacan mysteriously disappeared to... would make for a good horror flick. Drag a whole city into the underground tunnels.

Hell yeah, amazing for sure!
my god, I cant imagine being there for that!
How awesome that would be, to see this up close! wow!

also.. the inhabitants didnt go 'down'..
but they went UP.. waaayy up.... lol

Same way I want to "disappear" when I finally do...
to the stars.....
lol

Yes, and the Xtians are looking for Jesus to return too.....
Cultures around the world say that their gods left but promised to return.

Raincloud, the pics in your link are interesting..only the first 6 or 7 are about this finding.
Did you notice that in Pic #5 there is a conehead skull in the right foreground?

Fedge, the #8 pic you referenced is not from this site -- there is a breif description to the right of the pics.

Well it is weird seeing Greek orthodox paintings in a Mayan tunnel isn't it?
But there also is a theory out there since the "Mayas" used the lambda Λ architecture at there buildings, using the Greek meanders and the big Mayan place being originally called "Palacio de las grecas" which means the palaces of the Greeks..

I wonder if anything could come from the 'huge underground cavern/tunnel network' theory to explain the incas disappearing in relation to this. I mean, big underground tunnel, they ain't even explored the whole thing yet! Can't wait. If I hear nothing I'll be not suprising to say the least.

Incas in Teotihuacan? As far as I can recall is mayan population that has disappeared in great numbers and no historian can account for how that happened.
