[RINGS] 'Follow blindly' solved

<<  1    2    3  >>

Topic started on 18-6-2004 @ 10:02 AM by Smudge

Hey guy's I've been away for a couple of days so I don't know if this has been solved.
I checked Purdy's site and couldn't see anything so I thought I'd post it anyways.

The path solved by J.C I believe leads to
this site

> run output
one at a time
find them one
then the other
then the last
our convergence
is secure
one now
follow blindly
> end output
---|
---| bytes processed: 198534
---| process time: 0.003
---| file length: 912
---| parse code: three/of/the/four
---|
if you read the text the last thing it states is FOLLOW BLINDLY
well if you type in the same path and then follow with the word blindly you get this
new clue

---
> run output
332123212123130222133312231312222121232132023221231321322
> end output
---|
---| bytes processed: 882937741
---| process time: 0.049
---| file length: 22378
---| parse code: three/of/the/four/blindly

Is it new stuff I dunno?

Well it isn't ASCII, cause the numbers are too low as singles or too high as three digit numbers, as thats the region where the lower case alphabet falls.

I have tried taking the odd numbers and making them 1 and the even and maing them 0. Did not work. Did the opposite. will did not work
I took out all the numbers, except 0 and 1... got `.` as the answer
nothing here... still trying...

I tried seeing the numbers as base-4 base64 numbers. The result is then:

332 123 212 123 130 222 133 312 231 312 222 121 232 132 023
62 27 38 27 28 42 31 54 45 54 42 25 46 30 11
+ b m b c q f 2 t 2 q Z u e L

221 231 321 322
41 45 57 58
p t 5 6

which is kinda useless, but maybe it'll help someone get a good idea.

I just tried www.hammurabi5.com... 3/1/3/2/1/3/2/2 ha ha ha Did not work...

The sum of the numbers are 112.. not sure if it means anything...

Niiiiiiiice!!!! Good job smudge and JC.

It was right in front of us the whole time (in the note) *slaps self*
I was up for until like five a.m for two nights in a row typing in things to the site. /three/of/the/four *slams head into wall repeatedly*

The people running the game were probably laughing their heads the whole time. They finally figured they'd help us out a little on the FTR main page.

Nice job Smudge, the first thing I thought of was base 4, but apparently its not... I don't know what it could mean.

I dont know if this has been brought up or if it is even relevant, but in researching the clue...

the path should be clear
the path is important
the path is next

.... I came across this site TheClearPath. I didn't see anything of too much relevance, but thought that I would share anyway.

Ive been working on this for a while. Tried all the encryption thats been used previously, and searched for others without any luck.

A Tone generator seemed promising....but just came out as a bunch of random beeps.
www.dsptutor.freeuk.com...

I am stumped.

I tried this: www.abovetopsecret.com...

says we're not permitted to view that forum. does that mean that forum is for moderators only... or that it doesn't exist? Or that it's in a forum that I don't have enough points to enter?

Probably irrelevant. I have a headache. *L*

There appears to be a semblence of symmetry to the code. For instance, the two zeros are 14 characters in from each end. Here's the code with the second half reversed and placed under the first half (the 1 from the middle is repeated at the end of each line):

33212321212313 0 2221333122313 1
22312313212232 0 2312321212222 1

Not sure if it means anything, as the symmetry breaks down as you move towards the middle of the code.

I just noticed this...

33212321212313 0 222133312231312222121232132 0 23221231321322

There are 14 numbers before the first Zero, and 14 numbers after the last Zero

There are 27 numbers in the middle of the Zeros, or 29 including the Zeros

1st set of 14 = 29

2nd set of 14 = 29

27 numbers in the middle = 54

33212321212313 = 29
0
222133312231312222121232132 = 54
0
23221231321322 = 29

Well I guess someone else noticed something similar.... nice going Purdue, if it leads to anything.

Thanks for putting that together JC.

Something else that I noticed is the source of the last two pages of clues:

!--- encrypt:forward 2007 runtime start ---
|---
> run output
332123212123130222133312231312222121232132023221231321322
> end output

---| process time: 0.049
---| file length: 22378
---| parse code: three/of/the/four/blindly
---|
!--- encrypt:forward 2007 runtime end ---

!--- encrypt:forward 2007 runtime start ---
|---
run output
one at a time
find them one
then the other

our convergence

one now
follow blindly
> end output

Notice the part where it says "forward 2007" Do you remember on Cromeline's main page he says:

The clan leaders of each bloodline has contributed to the organization's funding and founding, specifically to locate and acquire the words, for our restoration in 2007

Just wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts on that, or if it's merely coincidense.
