Use discernment. In the first century the "disgusting thing" were the Roman standards. As the Romans approached the temple with their pagan standards it was a detestable things to the Jews. In fact it was a detestable thing to a Jew to have a gentile enter into the courtyard of the temple.

Today Christendom is the anti-typical Jerusalem. The "disgusting thing" is the United Nations.

When we see the United Nations turn upon and attack Christendom and especially its clergy it will be high time for all true Christians to "flee to the mountains."

This will be an attack unique in all of human history. It will be orchestrated by Jesus himself. And when they do attack the clergy it will be total and complete. It will not be in just one nation or two, but everywhere they will be viciously turned upon and ripped apart, no doubt imprisoned, and perhaps even executed. It will be a fearsome time of great bloodshed.

True Christians are not told to stockpile food, or arms, or munitions. True Christians are no part of this world. They have separated themselves from the politics of this system of things, as well as the false religions and the world's false religious holidays such as Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.

Many people tell you you need to stockpile food and water. Yet Jesus said:


(Matthew 6:25,31-33) . . .Stop being anxious about YOUR souls as to what YOU will eat or what YOU will drink, or about YOUR bodies as to what YOU will wear. . . .So never be anxious and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or, ‘What are we to drink?’ or, ‘What are we to put on?’ For all these are the things the nations are eagerly pursuing. For YOUR heavenly Father knows YOU need all these things.  “Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to YOU."

He said to keep on seeking the kingdom and putting it first in your life, and you are guaranteed that all of your physical needs will be taken care of. A true Christian is not that concerned with these things. Nor is he concerned about protecting himself from what is about to befall wicked mankind.

When that event happens, my dear friend. And it is soon to be upon us. You will know it for there is a trigger that tells us it is upon us. And I will show you what the event is, for the Bible reveals it:

(1 Thessalonians 5:3) . . .Whenever it is that they are saying: “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.

When you hear that cry for "peace and security" know that it has started. And "sudden destruction" begins with Christendom. She will be brought low and destroyed in the opening salvo of that coming "great tribulation." Soon to follow will be all the rest of the world-wide empire of false religion. The world's political rulers will turn upon her and that complete destruction with which that beast destroyed Christendom will be the fate of the rest of religion.

During that time things will become so bad that if they were not halted no life would remain on earth. Things are just going to get that bad. Jesus said they would:

(Matthew 24:21-22) . . .for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.

If those days were not cut short no flesh on earth would survive. But on account of God's "chosen ones" his anointed followers still alive their will be a repreive. Most of mankind still relaing from the bloodletting and violence will flee into athesim, but that is a fickle friend, and they will soon discover that their governments and man-made friends will be no no use to them....

They will become faint out of fear because of the things they will now know are about to befall them:


(Luke 21:25-26) . . .“Also, there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and [its] agitation, 26 while men become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

While the majority of mankind will be reeling in fear and panic, God's servants will not need to lift up arms or fight. They will in fact raise their heads erect for they know that deliverance is at hand:


(Luke 21:28) . . .But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift YOUR heads up, because YOUR deliverance is getting near.”


You asked for other prophecies talking about not fighting? There are two very pointed ones that tell God's servants that that coming war that will shake mankind to its very foundation and finally uproot all evil and wickedness will be a war fought by God. And his servants will not need to fight:


(2 Chronicles 20:17) . . .YOU will not need to fight in this instance. Take YOUR position, stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah in YOUR behalf.. . .

Yes Jehovah himself will fight on behalf of his servants. In fact they are warned to retreat to their inner rooms while the bloodly carnage plays out:


(Isaiah 26:20-21) . . .“Go, my people, enter into your interior rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for but a moment until the denunciation passes over. 21 For, look! Jehovah is coming forth from his place to call to account the error of the inhabitant of the land against him, and the land will certainly expose her bloodshed and will no longer cover over her killed ones.”

When Babylon (another typical representation of Christendom) fell to Cyrus in 539 [double edit]B. C. E. Cyrus sent a decree throughout the city to have everyone remain indoors. Everyone refusing to hear that decree were slautered by his soliders.

When that time comes, obeying the superior authorities as far as it is not disobeying God will be a must. One must have completely removed themselves from false religion, including Christendom.

A true Christian never fights. The coming battle will not be a battle fought by humans in behalf of God. It will be a divine war between God and man:


(Zechariah 4:6) . . .‘“Not by a military force, nor by power, but by my spirit,” Jehovah of armies has said.

Humankind opposed to God and carrying weapons will be too busy fighting and slaughtering one another during that day:

(Ezekiel 38:21) . . .‘Against his own brother the sword of each one will come to be.

Its nothing to do with prophecy. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that violence begets violence. Just because people believe in god or a higher power and come to that conclusion does not make their message of promoting peace, and shunning violence, divine.

I disagree.

First off I dont believe the bible to be divine. Human history has been dictated by the elite, and they know the future because they know the fates that have befallen previous civilisations. The bible (along with other "holy" books, as well as non-holy historical texts) is an insight into human nature.

The warning you refer to makes no sense if you apply the UN to it. It has existed for decades yet the warning speaks more of an immediate sign. If you consider that judgment will begin with Israel, and this disgusting thing is a sign that will cause those who KNOW what it is to flee and hide.

Think of one feature of modern warfare that would strike terror into anyone who saw it, and they would certainly hide. Everyone knows it. One truly disgusting thing, an abomination, that causes desolation. Think about it hard, then when you see the mushroom cloud in Israel you will know its time to hide.

The fact that you don't believe in Divine prophecy negates everything else and any attempt to persuade you to understand the scripture would be pointless.

But to others who perhaps may be reading this. The disgusting thing is the same as the beast depicted in Revelation chapter 17 and 18. This beast turns upon a harlot that is riding it. The harlot is called Babylon the great and she sits on many waters. It states that waters represent many peoples. Babylon is the source from which all religion came, thus Babylon the great, the harlot that fornicates itself with the kings of the earth must represent religion.

When she is destroyed the kings of the earth, and the merchants or commercial entity stand at a distance in amazement whispering at her destruction, thus the harlot Babylon the great cannot represent any political or commercial entity.

Further the beast that kills her came out of an abyss-like state of death:

(Revelation 17:8) . . .The wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss, and it is to go off into destruction.. . .

It was as the League of Nations, it "is not" during the time of the Second World II when this prophesies fulfillment became understood. At that time it was revealed that it "is not" but would rise again. And it was predicted in 1943 that it would rise again as the United Nations after World War II ended and a period of "peace" would ensue.

It does not have teeth right now, and has existed since a little after the time of the end in 1914 (it came into existence as a counterfeit kingdom of God that would bring peace to humankind at Satan's behest after WWI ended).

Right now she appears not to have much power to do anything. But events will happen that will give her the power she needs to do God's bidding. For no human agency will then be operative that can prevent it.

I will reveal something to you. There is no unity except where there is the spirit of God. This world is in disarray and disunity, it's peoples, its religions, because they carry not God's spirit.

Only among his people is their unity and peace. That spirit will eventually fall upon the United Nations and unify mankind in a single thought to destroy and devastate religion, starting with the clergy of Christendom.

When the world unify it will be suddenly and without warning, and they, and everyone will know that something not right is happening:

(Revelation 17:15-18) . . .And he says to me: “The waters that you saw, where the harlot is sitting, mean peoples and crowds and nations and tongues. 16 And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. 17 For God put [it] into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out [their] one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished. 18 And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”

That "disgusting thing" is a political entity that will turn upon and devestate that disgusting harlot.

Modern-day Israel has no fulfillment in Bible prophecy. It is in opposition to God's kingdom as surely as any other nation on earth is today. Many so-called Christians look to modern-day Israel for some kind of fulfillment of Bible prophecy but they will receive none. It is the spiritual Israel, or the Israel of God, the Christian congregation that is the real Israel in Bible prophecy today. And Jerusalem above, that is heavenly, is her mother, not any nation on earth.

Is this where you offer me copies of the Watchtower and invite me to bible "studies"?

While we all consider what we'd do in the event of a global war, which, I might add could very well be nuclear, biological, using drones and all sorts of other means of long-distance destruction, it would be wise to keep abreast of the immediacy of what some are saying in regard to WWIII.

It's all fine and dandy to break down the guns for cleaning and stockpiling the ammunition, but I believe their use will be restricted to a very diminished few survivors scrabbling over canned goods.

In my mind and in that scenario, laying down the arms and working together is sound advice.
