I get a little twinge when I get foe'd. Thankfully it has only happened a handful of times and most of them were people I never really had an interaction with. It seems they just read something I wrote they didn't agree with and foe'd me. I have no foes. It's ridiculous to see someone as an enemy just because their views and opinions are different than yours. I dislike people based on actions.

Maybe I should start friending all my foes!!

I've been Foe'd by 6 people and although i've been around here for a while, i don't post much and have (to my knowledge) never envountered these people.

Saying that, i've been friend'd a number of times, similarly by people that i've mostly never encountered!

It's all a bit bizzare tbh.

I don't Foe people because I feel there is enough negativity in the world....I don't need to add to it.

-SNIP- People foe...people friend...don't like it -SNIP-. This is how the people who run this site...made things...I have a lot of foes...so what. Should I also make a thread to cry about it...umm no. Also it is a bit childish to put people on ignore just because you got your sensitive little heart burned..
. Putting people on ignore on this site is has to be most juvenile thing one can do...

I was actually the one who did this--and I didn't mean to. The guy/gal upthread who mentioned the problems scrolling with iPads may have gotten to the core of my problem--I usually browse with a Nexus One when I'm not at home because I've gotten somewhat addicted to this board (I really do enjoy it), and I realized I clicked on someone and made them into a "foe". I didn't know there was an option to deselect someone until now. Anyway, there's that (I would have responded via PM but I don't think I have enough posts yet). I certainly wasn't looking to start such a tizzy.

You didn't. Not your fault. Threads about Friends/Foes come up every now and again.
As you can see, some members take the idea a bit more seriously than others.

So what you are saying is that I should sit back and let you give me a 'Foe-job'? LOL No Thanks!

I have but a single Foe - and He is a Man of singular intellect and formidable good looks!

Whom am I to hope to disagree with such a vernerable and worthy opponent!?

I'm #3 on the foes list. Soon to be #2. I'm at 28 and #2 is at 30. I get a kick out of someone foeing me because they can't debate.

It says more about the people that foe someone than it does the person getting foed. Don't stress it.

As an aside, at least from my perspective, the way that foe is defined down there doesn't seem like that negative of a connotation--it actually seems positive, almost respectful, as in it's someone you'd like to have a debate with who is constantly well prepared. But I'm glad we could clear the air !

That's exactly what the function is for but there are some that see it as a way to take a stab at you. Whatever.

Agreed ... personally I like to sedulously eschew obfuscatory hyper verbosity and prolixity.

First sesquipedalianist I come across will by mah first foe.

Your last reply was priceless

I was going to friend you, but I'll probably wait for another thread. Did you know your usually friendly faced avatar looks mean on this thread?
It turns out your foe was an accident after all, so avatar you will look much friendlier on the next thread. I'll friend you then, in the mean time

You foe'd yourself? You must be very flexible. I didn't even know it was possible.

Edited for a strategically placed apostrophe.

My god! Sir, you are certainly the wisest among us and I consider yours to be the greatest post of all time!

To foe, or not to foe: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. - Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember'd.

"William Shakespeare"

just a two word twist at the beginning but works well

Happens to me allot, I consider it a compliment. Most are from the anti-Israel crowd. They will learn someday.

Don't feel bad. I've been here a few years and although I have no foes I also have very few friends!
