I did not see this article on after a search on ATS so thought it should be up. RIP those who died. My respects and thoughts go to their families and friends.

The article states investigators are looking into what caused the C17 to crash at the end of the runway. It does state it was on a training run for an upcoming air show. It strange how things like disasters happen at around the same time. I'm thinking of the F18 that crashed in Canada and now this. Similarly, the BP Oil leak and the rupture pipeline into the river in Michigan.

But I digress, my thoughts go to the victims families and friends.

More than likely a pilot error (90% are). (I flew the predecessor to the C17: C141).

It can get busy on a local flight, with lots of radio calls and so forth.

The aircraft has a lot of backup systems, so it's not likely the culprit.

Just guessing:
1. Got going too slow, overbanked, stalled.
2. Smoke in the cockpit.
3. Hit an object: multiple bird strike, multiple engine failure.
4. Hit a tower or other object not seen in clouds.

U.S. Military release footage of the C17 crash. Pilot over confidence they say caused crash.

Rest in peace.
