Why do people feel
the need to make
their posts like this?

That is a single sentence. At no point should I have instituted a page break and started on the next line. It fractures the sentence in a way that makes no sense. Most people will read the first line and think I am asking a deep question;

why do people feel?

Well, they have nerves and your nervous system is connected to your cardiovascular system and your neurological center and they all work in conjunction together to give you the sensation of "Feeling"

Great and all but If that's what went through your head when first looking at this thread, then you are totally missing out on the original intent of this post.

posting like this is highly
ineffective and most people
will question your intelligence.

ATS and most websites use text wrapping. What that means is, you dont need to hit enter, because the website or blog will wrap your text for you.

You can type like this.
Each of these lines is an independent thought.
Make your word and sentences more powerful.
This Would be considered acceptable in most minds.

but typ-
ing like this
is just amateurish because people
will think you just found out about
computers like yesterday or something.

Ok, you want to write a poem. Cool. Take a good hard look at most professionally published poems.

"On the night I met you,
my heart stoped beating
it froze with with desire,
at what I was seeing."
--Resty Malazo Rivera

Ok, there aren't whole sentences on each line, but each line does constitute a complete thought, which is just fine.

I say all of that not to be a jerk, but simply so more people will better understand your thoughts.

Sorry for the rant, thanks for reading!

Shall we discuss spelling as well?

In light of the tragedies and challenges facing the nations of the world...the BP Spill, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, the Euro-US-Asian economic meltdown....

I can think of no subject that is more worthy of discussion than the spacing and typing style of posters here at ATS.

Kudos to you for such a groundbreaking critique.

I think
sometimes it might
depend on the size
of their screen or how
the device interface code
parses and ends lines.
For example, if they
are using an iPhone
or a Blackberry?

Maybe not. Just a
guess.

I think your right. I have friends who complain that they have a hard time doing computer stuff on their phones and then I give them a hard time for having their phones as their only "computing device." haha

I only mention it because it makes the posts FAR more powerful if the thoughts are organized in a easy to "digest" way.

This Link is a good example of how fracturing your thoughts can greatly misconstrue the meaning of your words.

As far as the BIG BROTHER data mining operations goes, they look past the page breaks and read it as if none where there to begin with, so it has no adverse affect.

its just a trick between the eye and the mind which treats the words as dis-conjoined when your processing the meaning in your head.

Most people who type that way have sight impairment problems, the sentences come out that way when they are using a magnifier. Would you rather these people spend a lot more time typing just to please you? why should they spend more time on a post than you would? you can still read what they are saying.

It does not bother me.

Because some
People have discovered
That when you write drivel
In a semi poetic format
It appeals to a certain
Audience.

Sometimes what
Is barely intelligible
Can appear profound
If written thusly.

I use Crtl-and the mouse wheel on a daliy basis to magnify and shrink text. amazingly, this does not affect the text block in anyway.

Im not saying they should do it to make me happy, they should do it so people can better understand their thoughts, so they can then add their own insight.

The whole point of this website is take an Idea inside your head and publish it to the site so others can comment. This is most effective when the Idea is clear and concise.

It takes approximately 1 and a HALF times longer to read a broken post, and most people only remember the last word from the previous line so while you may not think you are missing any of it, you very likely are.

haha I just spent a long time placing the above in a convoluted order and ATS wrapped it into the neat package you see above. I would've destroyed this thread with my tactical strike of horrible syntax. I"LL BE BACK.

As an experienced ATSer,who does not want to get
a penality for one liners,I started writing shorter
sentences.I also started to spell words out instead
of contracting them.
Do you have a problem with that?

People probably just have a sydrone and are addicted at tapping the 'ENTER' button on their keyboard. Really though, I shouldn't suppose it should really matter. Spelling and content are the most important things, not particularly how it is laid out. As seen, there could be all manner of reasons.
I reckon it's because

I am the
tiger of the
jungle who is
going to eat you.

looks better than

I am the tiger of the jungle is going to eat you.

It looks more substantial, see?
