And what exactly will dumbama use all these people for????? To take down and arrest anybody that doesn't obey. What need would he have for all these people to be in this army? He is a discusting man who wants to destroy America and anybody who believes in it. I have been excersising my RIGHT to bare arms and will continue to buy weapons to protect myself....

This man doesn't even have the legal right to be president, yet he is destroying this country with every chance he gets. On top of that the demmies in the house and senate are allowing this to happen. The morons like pelosi and reed think this is a joke.... they are all just as guilty as dumbama and should all be hung in public for treason and should be held as terrorist.

U.S. Constitution - Amendment 13

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Proposed 1/31/1865
Ratified 12/6/1865

Just for a joke, as you don't need a constitution to know that all people are born with rights - only those who are ignorant of their natural freedoms shall be chained by their perspectives.

Well they cant use Nucleare weapons so they are making a BIG BOMB with the Gulf of mexico by deluting the oil in the water with the dispersant and then drilling holes in the oil and gas reserve under the gulf sea floor and putting bombs in them, then.... its boom time.

Thats when the president will declare marshal law and use this law to enslave everyone!

Rangel introduces this bill in EVERY CONGRESS.

en.wikipedia.org...

The Universal National Service Act is the name of at least four bills proposed in the United States Congress (in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2010). The Universal National Service Act of 2007 is primarily sponsored by Congressman Charles Rangel of New York.
...
Observers largely believe that Rangel, knowing beforehand that the bill would never be passed by the House, introduced it only to make a point. Rangel himself argued that the point of his bill was to express his opposition to the war in Iraq. In an editorial in The New York Times, Rangel said “if those calling for war knew that their children were likely to be required to serve—and to be placed in harm’s way—there would be more caution and a greater willingness to work with the international community in dealing with Iraq.”

The point of it is that if we're to be in perpetual war, the draft should be reinstated - WITHOUT college deferments after age 20.

Therefore, the powerful will have to send their kids off to war, which would result in them not being quite as hasty in resorting to military action. At least, that's the idea.

So, before you type a breathless post about 'slavery to the government,' try a simple Google search.

Forget Obama, if our representatives pass this, we have truly slipped down a new low. Regardless of whether O signs it or not. It's not the big O i'm concerned about, its more the representatives.

Poor ol GW Bush had it wrong. It's not the taliban that hates our freedoms. It's many of our very own representatives, characters like this Charlie Rangel, who despise liberty. Bam, there's your real Taliban.

If you think the truly powerful will ever have to sacrifice, i have a bridge i'd like to sell you.

Really, you really think that's what these characters are trying to do? Stick it to the powerful?
That is hilarious.

Oh, so the draft should be re-instated so we can perpetually send kids off to die in some perpetual nonsense that we most likely have no business being involved in. No, there is no need for a draft, not now not ever. We have the 2nd, to defend our country. We have the liberty to exercise it. We have what we need. We always did. Time for more people to wake up and realize it.

First with the European style healthcare program, and now this...

It's becoming a tad bit more apparent that the Obama administration highly favors our more socialistic brothers across the pond (I know, "DUH!"). Does this all just seem like a gradual transition from the country we have always known to a (non)country that is really just a giant landmass under the control of a global government?

Clarity can be a wonderful, yet scary, thing.

I am 40 years old and fall into the demographic that they are targeting. I have already spent 5 years in college and have invested 100s of hours volunteering on a local level. I now have a career and am fortunate enough to make good money. Does O-asshat have plans to supplement my income and pay my bills while forced into involuntary servitude?

And for those of you who think O-asshat doesn't support this... He campaigned for it!!!

You are entitled to your opinion. And I am entitled to mine.
Those were the principles that our founding fathers formed this nation on.
If you don't like it you know where the door is.

In any case this country in times of need have called upon it's populace to perform duties for their country. Who says this isn't one of those times?

Do these guys know we're armed? I do not wish to be absorbed into the collective. The basis for this legislation seems to be for the purpose of control capability of an armed public. To quash civil disorder, which, ironically will be created should this ever be signed into law. This man will, in the end, have one thing in common with Lincoln, they will have both caused a civil war. In this edition, Washington DC is on the short end of the stick. Remember, in life there are bugs and there are windshields. Stay out of the road DC, coming thru.

PLEASE, for the love of God and our nation, PULL YOUR HEADS OUT!!!!!

YOU are NOT a "citizen of the United States". PERIOD!!!! YOU are not a "person". PERIOD.

Why in the hell do you people NOT understand legal language????????

YOU are a transient inhabitant of your State. Read your States "Bill of Rights". YOU are the political power, YOU have power over the governor, the sheriff and ALL other government officials and police officers.

WTF?????????

I am getting so damn tired of repeating myself, over and over again about this and it seems to me NO ONE is picking up on it. READ the law dictionaries, Barrons 2nd Edition is a good place to start, you don't have to be an intellectual genius to understand this, it is sooooooo simple.

The United States is a CORPORATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe people are so uneducated about our political past that they think Rangel is actually calling for the draft! It's a political ploy explained here (that is, if anyone cares about the facts... OopsI I forgot, they don't!)

So, Yeah! BOO Obama! Hisssss! Obama's bad, M'kay?

Cut the crap, right THERE. If your opinion is to take history, twist it to your desire to mold it into your argument then by all means, keep your opinion to yourself, or get a job writing schoolbooks.

Backward thinking people keep a nation back. And right now you are thinking backwards. The founding fathers never had to deal with todays world so if you want to have the country your founding fathers created, kindly create a timemachine to go back(and have your bubble burst) or simply cut your 'patriotic' bull. Kind of the same as with the option you offer those with a different opinion. Seemingly, you can have your opinion and live in the US but someone who doesn't should leave. Way to go mr. founding father.

Duties for their country...get a clue, please, before you call for other peoples children to serve in the military and get killed go kill yourself, then come back and expect the same from others. Otherwise, as stated before, keep your war mongering, ignorance ridden opinion to yourself. And if you don't feel like doing that...you know where the door is.

Deny ignorance, this is ATS you are posting on sir. People are tired of people like you, let it go for heavens sake.

Uh...I researched this and read the bill.

Please explain where Obama supports this bill??

FACTS:

Charles Wrangel (The author of the bill...a bill that will never go anywhere) has repeatedly called for a DRAFT...which is what this bill is.

He feels that the status quo unequally sends minorities and the poor off to war for the benefit of the wealthy.

So he repeatedly makes proposals like this.

It is a political statement...Not an Obama iniative.

EASY on the BS please.

Congressman Rangel Reintroduces Bill To Reinstate Military Draft
July 15, 2010 2:58 PM

WASHINGTON - Congressman Charles Rangel on Thursday introduced H.R. 5741, a bill that would reinstate a compulsory military draft, or alternative national service, during times of war, for men and women, aged 18 to 42, who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

"What troubles me most about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is the total indifference to the suffering and loss of life among our brave young soldiers on the battlefield," Congressman Rangel said. "The reason is that so few families have a stake in the war which is being fought by other people's children.

"The test for Congress, particularly for those members who support the war, is to require all who enjoy the benefits of our democracy to contribute to the defense of the country. All of America's children should share the risk of being placed in harm's way.

"In other words, if you support the war, you should support a compulsory military draft," Congressman Rangel said.

Massive over-reaction on the part of some people in this thread.

Rangel proposed this to drive home the point that his cohorts in Congress are all too eager to send OTHER people's kids off to die in war. His purpose in presenting this bill, and others like it, is to force Congress to look at what they are doing every time they re-up the funding for the wars.

I, for one, wholeheartedly support his effort. This has no chance of passing - but he is trying to open their eyes to the true cost of war.

Here's what I don't understand about you people and it makes me sick.

The bill, from the link in the OP, its self, says

Mr. RANGEL introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services

But the OP himself says

Here is the Obama national security force.

Obama had nothing to do with this. Stop being a drama queen and ignoring facts to further your stupid agenda.

This isn't the first time Rangel has introduced something like this and it won't be the last.

Jesus some people just can't help but escape intelligent thought.
