I've been studying the relationship between the yahwehist religion and the Ugarit gods. There are a lot of parallels between the Ugarit texts and the bible god. That is undeniable.
However, I have a problem with the interpretation of these results thats being presented today. Everyone seems to be assuming these people were canaanites.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but is there any evidence that shows these people were indeed canaanites.
I recently heard that there was a text found at Ugarit that differentiated between the two. It mentions a lawsuit between the sons of Ugarit and the sons of Canaan. If thats the case, they viewed the canaanites as foreign to themselves
