I believe this is representative of most peoples views. these older people have been through wars for this country and our Constitution. They have a stronger sense of nationalistic values than people do today. I am in my 40's and i agree that this man is going to help destroy this country.. and has already done much damage.

These people can see the truth. I applaud them. If we do not stop madmen like Obama things will get worse. When your over 40, perhaps you will understand.

Oh puke me a river. Bay of Tonkin. War hasn't been about defending the constitution in anyone's lifetime that is still alive.

Most likely explanation is still racism. Fox news can whine about health care and/or financial reform 24/7. Facts remain, USA is still mostly the same country as under George W.

If they were not racist Hill Billies believing Fox propaganda, they might've been disappointed liberals that thought Obama would turn USA in to a more like a european-style country with free health care for all. Sadly, he hasn't and probably will not.

Actually, the CFR sees no point in it at the moment. So do many top advisors who are not of the PNAC/neocon/Zionist bent. The view that it would be catastrophic to this nation to get further entrenched in the ME.

The whole diversion in N. Korea is a countermove on the chessboard. Follow Clinton. She's CFR. So is Obama. This is the same cycle we saw in 2007, by the way, when the balance of power was slightly tipped the other way.

Just a theory and off topic. Sorry. Oh and Ron Paul is a non-interventionalist and would bring our troops home from everywhere.

[edit on 7/26/2010 by ~Lucidity]

The first part of your post is easy to explain-They want to bomb Iran. Of course they are going to downtalk Afghanistan. They'd rather throw rockets some place else right now.

And you don't need to explain who Ron Paul is to me. i know who he is. What i'm saying is he has no shot at winning. So who is the lesser of two evils that is going to get us out of Afghanistan?

[edit on 26-7-2010 by antonia]

Um I said it. The CFR. The neither wish to bomb Iran nor get further involved in Afghanistan. They are the team Obama and Clinton are on. When we're talking subfactions of the CFR.

Oh, it didn't seem like you knew what Ron Paul's stance on this was when you brought him into the conversation for some reason. My apologies for mentioning in.

I really, really, really, really don't want it to be racism. If I had to throw out a theory, I'd think they're just people listening to one particular set of media leaders too much and creating their own easy solutions in their minds. And as one poster alluded to, they may well just have forgotten they were out in public.

If the president were to be assassinated, do you think there would be hell in the streets? It would be a tragedy of great proportions, and either a disaster with riots the likes of which we have ever seen or everyone would all just go numb...for different reasons perhaps, but numb as a nation. It's too horrible a thought to contemplate.

Just to get my head somewhat straight. If so many people are complaining about Mr Obama then how is it that he won the Presidency... I mean if the old folks voted for him because he promised them the moon and when he got into office he put on a new mask. People get what they voted for. Maybe, as they keep on saying lately, that he will only be a one time president. Socialism is not the answer. Just look at Europe and what a mess its in.

Funny thing is I've sat in the clinic waiting area at my local VA for the past 4 years. The conversation was the same 3 years ago except the guys in the clinic (former soldiers) wanted to shoot Bush. What would you have said then? Would you have been just as disgusted? Or would you have smiled and thought to yourself about agreeing? Just asking a simple question.

Oh and my observation on my twice a month appointments at the VA is that he's either loved, I mean like the Germans loved hitler or hated like everone else hated Hitler. My observation is also startling in that Americans of African descent are not all on his side (as MSNBC, CSPAN and FOX would have you believe) and not all Americans of European descent are against him again not as the MSM would have you believe.

I have noticed the same trend as well.
People who would lick the boot heels of George W Bush are now talking about revolution and "taking America back".

They did not care about who did what to us on 9/11, and, laughed at Ron Paul when he tried to warn them about the coming financial meltdown.

They are no different than a blood covered skell in the back of an RMP reading the bible and promising to change his ways if he were only given a another chance.

My friends were murdered by their hero Dick Cheney on 9/11, they cheer leaded the murder of innocent brown people halfway around the world and now that they cant go to Cancun twice a year and have to eat chicken instead of steak, the Black Man must die! Revolution is on the table! we are socialists!

Obama may be as crooked as a 3 dollar bill but thats the nature of a politician, whats the excuse of all these newfound "patriots" for kissing the rear of GWB and the neocons for 8 years?

No thanks, I think that, anyone of these so called "patriots" would violate all of our rights at the drop of a dime if given a chance, just look at how they want to go shoot Hispanics for being "illegal".

Best advice I can give to minorities is to arm yourselves, it wont be long before these so called "patriots" set up armed check points and start shooting, robbing and raping anyone they choose in the name of "taking America back".

Never mind securing our borders (a great idea) they want to be able to abuse the illegals that they do find and that is the purpose of Arizona's Law, they have used the legislative process to brand millions of people as "ok to abuse" since they are illegal.

Their law will lead to many, many Hispanic women being raped without penalty, I am sure its all a very exciting prospect to the supporters of the law.

I would like to add that, I am doing better than ever in most aspects, its not Obama's fault that people are so greedy, stupid and fixated on Fox News.

“When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” .............Sinclaire Lewis.

Sounds like the Tea party to me!

There's a better way...Get the Dems out of office, investigate his nationality, impeach him, then put him on trail for treason. Undue every law he has signed.

Binen would be a lame duck for the remainder of the term.

Me? Already covered a few times in this thread. Yes, I would have thought the same. I would have been as alarmed, if not more so, for them in case they were overheard.

Please reassure me and tell me this was just some old people venting off steam. That this isn't representative of a good chunk of our population here in America. And that it won't happen. Also, should things like this be reported? What would even happen if they were.

Scary times.

[edit on 7/26/2010 by ~Lucidity]

I'd say you answered your own question. They are just blowing off steam. It happens on both sides of the aisle.

This seems like the place to say why I quit the Democrats on March 30, 1981. I was an avid Democrat until then.

On March 29th I ended up at a Sunday afternoon get together featuring spaghetti and too much cheap wine. We all ended up on our faces along with the usual crowd you pick up in your travels to the stores for supplies. I was still pretty wild back then.

This group were like me, a group of Democrats growing too old to still be partying having a last fling or two.

The next day I woke up on a guest bed with the usual hangover. I decided to go to the store and get something to put on my stomach and of course a die hard said bring back some more wine, which I did.

When I got back they were all agitated over the TV and back in full party mode. They said you have got to see this. Just as I looked towards the TV they were replaying Reagan being shot. Everyone in the room but me stood up and gave the shooter a standing ovation and starting singing his praise. The conversation devolved into them yelling "I hope Reagan dies" and things like the shooter is their hero and why was his aim not better. They sat there the rest of the day hoping for news Reagan was dead.

Sitting there on the couch with my mouth open, I thought then and there; what in the hell is the matter with me. What am I doing with these sick people. These people are nuts. I'm not one of these people. These people who used to protest for peace and an end to war were nothing but a bunch of hysterical nut jobs and hypocrites.

The next election I changed Parties. Now I don't belong to either Party because both are just as insane. The hatred is equal on both sides.

I wish I could say none of the people there that day ever did anything violent, but I can't. One of them did end up in prison for a violent crime. He beat a man to death just for disagreeing with him. It took 14 Officers to contain him in the Bar.

I know Cheney was CFR. So are others. Many of them wear multiple hats to infiltrate and influence but differ in some very fundamental places. Hence the offshoots and subfactions. There is overlap but there are also shifts of power. There is dissent among TPTB that can be exploted is my only point here. And right now, we need to support the evil that wants us out of Afghanistan and not involved in Iran.

Geeez. People actually cheered? That's seriously frightening. I'm with you on the party thing...never belonged and never will other than when I registered Republican for one second to vote in the primary in 2008. It blew my mind the kind of mail and calls that triggered. I couldn't opt-out or unregister fast enough. Wonder how much that stuff costs. I wish parties would either go away entirely or blossom into the 6 or 7 we might need to accurately reflect the diversity of this nation. Two (virtually one) is definitely not enough.

What I am trying to glean here is this: Who is it running that is against these wars? I haven't really seen anyone. The Tea Party/Republican crowd seems to be hijack be the neocons. The Dems are just soft-gloved Neo-Libs. So, I'm not really seeing what you are saying in that regard.

As I mentioned before it's not the people in obvious power...the president and the Congress...it's who is behind them really running things. You have to keep track of these things yourself by reading tons and watching carefully because they are not going to tell you.

I think some of the response of SOME older people is rooted in the fact that they were young during the Red Scare of the 1950's-60's.

I was just in elementary school at that time, but I still remember that communism was taught to us as being the most evil force on the planet, and the Soviet Union as the equivalent of hell on earth. These sentiments were expressed by virtually every teacher in every class, no matter what the subject.

When I was in junior high (now usually called middle school) I had a Civics teacher that the John Birch Society was trying to get fired because they believed her to have socialist leanings. Looking back on it, I believe she probably did. She was still one of the best teachers I ever had, instilling in me a pride of our national heritage of democracy and a belief in the power of the political process.

Add to an irrational fear of anything faintly socialist was the racist culture of their youth. Many white people, especially in the south where my family is from, saw desegregation as a terrifying upheaval of the social order and everything they had been raised to believe in.

I have read Karl Marx and have known both socialists and communists. I believe President Obama is well educated and also familiar with Marx and his theories. I am certain, though, that he is NOT a Marxist but a capitalist.

But the belief system I was taught in my earliest youth decrees that even reading the book makes you a dangerous subversive, and I see this same kind of irrational mentality in the reaction of many people to the president today. Some see him as the destroyer of everything they hold sacred and dear, both politically and socially.

These things, I think, are factors in the vehemence with which our president is hated by some.

Should have asked them where they were when Bush was the talking head.

Yeah, Obama is destroying this country but each and every thing he is doing was set up by his predecessor.

I have heard a lot of talk about the president in public, but even his harshest critic has not threatened him in the manner that you have described in the op......but that's just in my experience......

These are probably some of the same people who were protesting during the Johnson and Nixon administrations.

It is typical of people to take out their frustrations on the president......but I believe that a line should be drawn where threats to the life of the president, no matter how insignificant they may seem to be, are all taken seriously.

If what you say happened in the doctors office is true, I do not believe that it is typical of peoples attitudes in general these days......at least I hope that it is not.
