Tony Hayward Reportedly Stepping Down

The Times reports that the embattled BP CEO has has agreed to step down and be replaced by Robert Dudley, the company’s most senior American executive who is now in charge of BP’s operations in the Gulf of Mexico. The decision might be announced publicly this Tuesday, and will likely go into effect this fall. Looks like he'll get his life back, after all.

This is breaking now. Tony Hayward to step down as CEO of BP. I think it is about time this happens with all the oil and methane leaking in the GOM. I don't know anything about Robert Dudley, the person that is to replace Hayward.

I guess he will have more time on his racing yacht now - as long as the oil does not reach his own waters...

BP’s board would have to approve a change in company leadership. An official announcement could come as early as Monday.

This is what it's all about.

BP is due to release its second quarter results on Tuesday, and the board of directors is scheduled to meet before the earnings announcement.

Whenever the govt does an illegal operation, like maybe murder, their MO is to have a credible 'fall guy'. He takes the blame, and the govt, or in this case the Kenyan, is exhonerated. However, in this case, the real perp is still embroiled in the event, or the spill. Won't end here. Interesting.

WTF??

Wednesday the official line from BP was that there was no truth to the rumours of his retirement, now four days later (two of those days on the weekend) the story is that he will step down as early as Tuesday?

These people simply cannot tell the truth about ANYTHING.


ETA...

At least Tony won't leave empty handed, or even punished in any way. This whole thing stinks of a set up...leak that he may retire so they can get a feel for the public sentiment: When it turns out that people seem to blame him more than the actual company cut him loose with a golden handshake.
