Ok, this is a new thread in response to another members thread...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

As a South African, I knew about this, but it seems the rest of the world doesn't know?
South Africa is full of natural resources, wildlife, and craters from meteorites!

These photos www.southafrica.info...

prove and conclude that a meteor (or something else - like Tunguska) landed in SA. The damage must have been huge....

Please don't flame me, I'm just bringing the info forward...

You know, I lived inside that crater, and never knew it was a crater! My parents grew up in Parys.
Vredefort saw fighting in the Boer war, and we never learned about that either!

Wow, amazing! You lived there and didn't know
I would have thought you knew about the Boer War fighting from History classes in school. Then again, things may have changed since I left school.

There are plenty of interesting and cool things about SA.... I'm going to try dig up some more stuff and post here, to educate our fellow ATS members.

Yep, never knew. Learned at school, but never knew about Vredefort. I'm 40, so I was still one of the lucky ones that learned where I came from. Before our history was wiped out of the text books!
At least the kids of today learn about the crater!
