The wealthy and the corporations have pulled a real con on the American public. Its clear the middle class is getting squeezed out of existence and yet the public continues to fall for the same old propaganda. Those who make the most money can afford to pay the most taxes, yet instead they get the most loopholes out of the system. At this very moment if a bill entered our systems to give the rich another tax break, perhaps under the guise of "Job creation", the average Joe or Jane would all be for it!

Certainly our failing education system is not helping this situation but on that account, like everything else, the rich are not paying their fair share of another "Social system" end result? More ignorance and thats just the way they like.

Book mark that article folks and bring it out everytime someone cries for the rich.

Yup, time to learn how to say "would you like fries with that?" in Chinese.

This hits the nail on the head. Time and time again I see folks whining about their government not spoon feeding them or standing by to wipe their asses. Stories of people who can't afford things like paying their bills or rent, but have the funds for more important things like Internet, cellphones and plasma TVs. This is not, hopefully, atypical of all people, some do save for a rainy day and live within their means, but many I honestly believe shoot for the stars and put themselves in terrible debt. This is a generation as neo96 says that expects "instant gratification", gotta have what hollywood or some insignificant tv star has in order to function. People need to re-prioritize themselves and focus on themselves instead of crying about issues.

I agree with the OP as well, taxes need to be raised severely. Plus vacate 2 wars, stand down a good portion of its military and there will be all kinds of money to keep the Sony/Wii generation going strong.

Laws need to be made to rebuild the middle class.
For example all households with a combined annual income under $100,000 pay no income taxes for 10 years. Everybody above that threshold moves to a flat tax of 10%, no deductions allowed. Very simple.

Something along those lines would help the middle class rebuild and the rich would not be able to dodge any taxes. I hate taxes, but some money is needed to keep everything going. And those that have benefited the most from the American dream should help to restore it for those that have been crushed by the American Nightmare that the great recession has become.

I didn't need to read the entire thread. I've known the middle class was shrinking for a couple decades.

The reason is that we've become reactionary. We react to certain words, like "socialism," rather than trying to understand what they mean. We've been much more "socialist" in the past than we are now. But ignorant people don't know that. And when a segment of society is reactionary, it can be manipulated.

It's the fault of the middle class itself. Hate to say that but it's true. The American middle class is intellectually lazy. If it takes reading more than a paragraph to understand an issue, they won't do it. If it takes any amount of effort to educate themselves about an issue, they won't do it.

So they listen to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter and Gordon Liddy and other stooges of the PTB who "simplify" the world situation for them. They like everything simplified to a slogan. Or better yet, a label. They think they understand things that way; that they really know what's going on. They like a black and white world. They hate any shade of grey and proclaim those shades don't exist. They don't understand the issues. Only WHO is good and WHO is evil. Turns out the rich are good and those trying to promote a pro middle class agenda are evil. Just ask Beck. Just ask Joe Barton.

Here's an example. In my state (Missouri) just like many states, we used to support higher education by paying about 80 percent of a student's tuition. That was twenty-some years ago. Since then, in order to support tax cuts (that primarily benefitted the most affluent people in the state), that appropriation has been whittled down to about 40 percent. So the students (if you do the math correctly) now have to pay about THREE times as much tuition (yes, even adjusted for inflation) as they did back in the mid-1980s. Who gets the blame? The legislators for cutting the appropriation to higher education? Nope. The state universities. Like they just raised the tuition for no reason. So higher education gets demonized for a problem they did not create.

And a large part of the middle class is ignorant enough to believe it. They're just not, well, just not smart enough to see what's going on. Hate to say that because I'm middle class myself.

This is only going to get worse.

And the gap will only grow. Capitalism has disappeared over the last few decades and has been replaced with fascism and socialism. So naturally people are going to have to get poor now. And since one of the most important measures of capitalism is government spending, we can figure people in the middle class will get a lot poorer very fast now until the government goes bankrupt since they are on track to spend only more and more money. Not pretty.

I agree with EVERYTHING you say about those three problems. I've worked with a lot of the high tech companies and have spoken with the people who actually make the decisions to outsource to other counties. Many of them don't want to do it, some don't care, but the ones that make those decisions, they know that it'll screw this country. Their mentality is that their company just wont survive if they don't outsource because of those three things all because their competitor is doing it.

I don't know why people on this site are so brainwashed to such socialistic ideals. Why can't people see that those socialistic ideas are the solution for the problem created by the globalists? I just don't get it. People really need to sit down and read the Communist Manifest AND the United States Constitution and really compare them side by side. If you don't get a kick in the butt and realize they are literally polar opposites, then there is no hope for you.

The reason why this system we have is failing is because we have people who want to control the global socialist state are manipulating this free market system to rely off of the outsourced socialist systems such as China.

I just don't get how people don't see that the only industry China actually has is slave services. Yes they are paid but what is their tax? How many decisions can they make with their lives? They don't have any real choice. It's all a show, a front to show the rest of the world that they "pay" their workers.

I just don't get why Nixon is praised for opening trade with China, that was one of the WORST things for this country. He went to China and pretty much said "We want to replace our free workers with Chinese slaves and eventually turn the Americans into slaves also"

I also know may in unions, many are waking up to them. Their mentality was defending the unions with their life. They actually thought that the unions protected them. Some cases they do, but if you look at the structure of a union, you will clearly see it's literally modeled after the communist manifesto. Think of them as a sub government that controls what you do with their own propaganda.

Hell, same goes for organized religion. Not to offend anyone but really look at the structure of organized religion. Take any christian organization, there's a hierarchy and it can only survive if you pay into it a lot. How do they get people into it? They use propaganda to have you pay into it. The Bible was meant as a tool to better your life but it has been used to control the way you think. It's a bunch of stories written to help people to make decisions with their lives to bring them closer to God, but malevolent people saw a long time ago that you can control those who weren't taught that very easily.

The power elite has created the illusion of the left/right paradigm to keep the people at each other's throats. The middle class fights with itself while the monied class uses this diversion to steal more and more wealth. We live in a plutocracy, a kleptocracy really. There is only one party, the corporate party with two wings, Democrat and Republican. Is there a difference between somebody like John McCain and John Kerry? Not one iota. They have way more in common with each other and the power elite than they ever will with the people that they claim to represent.

it is now neo-capitalism or neo-liberalism, a kind of dictatorship by the big corporations that can buy everything with $$$ and you just are a slave of the system - capitalism is not dead yet, but like Marx said, or was it Lenin, it will die by itself because such a system cann't live forever especially when it kills all around, the nature, the people, the market itself ( Enron ... Madoff ... etc etc BP. they all kill their own system by their greed ) and the monopolisation of the power makes everything much more confrontating, opposite, untill it blows itself up .. neo-capitalism is killing itself ( just like for example the big fishing going on in the oceans : they fish too much, they kill millions of sharks for their fins, but in the end there will be no more fish left - so the system kills itself by greed, more more more more, the system is going in overgear, it breaks apart because NO control allowed, free market you know, the Financial world can regulate itself they said before the collapse !!

The super rich.

When the system collapses, it is the super rich who lose the most. Without the paper wealth they can not control their physical property.

We already are, as our school system has begun teaching Chinese to our children even in the midst of extraordinary financial strain and program cutbacks.
