Neitzsche is right in a sense... isn't he debating with himself if there lies an ultimate truth or eternal fact? And to beg the question of whether he was right do you not infer another debate?

This is a deep question and it falls on the oddity of perspective of perception. If we wish to amass knowledge , although erroneous in the future, it is still useful now til then as the bridge to more knowledge that may as well lose definition once perception of it is erased.

The arguments and information used to even speak are considered facts of sorts and although they are not absolute , we can believe that that information is useful .

In my opinion, everything is perception , and nothing that we can know will ever escape the fact that nothing exists without it.

A mistake is only so if thought of in that manner. Another way to describe such a thing would be a non-mistake for if we never knew of a mistake then how would anything be corrected? Seems that mistakes are looked at in a bad light when it is one of the great ways to achievement.

After all…”A lack of historical sense is the congenital defect of all philosophers... They will not understand that man has evolved... there are no eternal facts, nor are there any absolute truths." Author: Friedrich Nietzsche, Human, All Too Human, 1878, 1 & 2

Was Nietzsche right? If so, what’s the point of debating?

Yes - even if there were facts, we constantly update them as the human understanding changes (I won't say improves or increases, because that is uncertain), as far as truth is concerned - even if it does exist, we simply don't have the capacity to separate it from falsehood.

Debating is useful if all participants enter into it with a realistic view of their own fallibility, because both peoples understanding can be expanded.

That is not the case where people have fixed beliefs and a closed mind.

Debate is nothing more than two people who cant agree on anything having a daily conversation.

Intelligent debate is when they are both smarta$$es.

Check.

Yes. And if you never try to walk, you never risk a fall and never learn to pick yourself up again. But what are you really missing out on, since you never experienced it in the first place.

I always thought that his statement had a major conflict in it...

Isn't his point of "no absolute truth" an absolute statement, therefore in error? I dunno?

Ya "there are no absolute truths" is an "absolute truth" time so far has proven that to be true, because nothing has proven to be true with the passage of time......Nietzsche is lying when he said that, you can't prove that there are no absolute truths with an absolute truth, that is cheating. So one has to ask himself can people with such cool mustaches be trusted.
