And if they do, they can be penalized. Adding a second line that doesn't add to the content of the post doesn't circumvent the one-line rule. Making your one line actually contribute to the thread does.

Personally, I enjoy many of the more creative "second line" remarks, as long as the first line was worth reading to begin with.

I'm really not sure how useful the automatic rejection of one-line posts is, because I think most people do just add a second line to get their post up anyway. And we still see way too many posts that don't contibute to the conversation in any way but to say "great post" (star it then, don't clutter up the board. If it's really fantastic, u2u the author, they'll probably appreciate that more) or "you're stupid" (then explain why the post -- not the author, thanks -- is stupid).

Why you should read every post in a thread before replying:

If someone asks, "What year was John McCain born?" and you answer: "1845", you will not get a one-line post warning.

That would make him 165.

Classic post from a typo!

No typo. Just a joke. Albeit, not a very good one.

And for the record, that would make him 164.

I don't think I have ever posted just one line for any post in a long time. I guess it depends on what you want to say or drag words along to make it all stick like glue. Does the three word story thread count though?
