i will try this again

in a post about woman abuse

i told a story

it involved a Nigerian couple from Nigeria

the words were replaced with N"word"ian and respectifly N"word"ia

now i find this completely wrong as it took took perfectly correct words and made them look completely racist

no where in there was the N"word" used

these were Nigerian people from the country of Nigeria

so if this is a auto correction i think your techy really needs to look at the system

it is insulting to the country and the people of the country

i am a pasty white canadian and i am insulted with it(ooops caucasian)

political correctness is not a bad thing but this is a fine example of how it is completely out of order and make me(the poster) looks racist.

yes well i am wondering if the words that are needed to point out the error in the post will be changed which would in that case make this whole post pointless.

and i dont mind the editing staff to use N"word" instead of the actual word if that was the case...but in this instance it is not at all the case and it definately makes the proper words look bad.

I'm pretty sure it's not the staff that turns the name of an African country (Nigeria) into "n-word-ia", it's an automatic censor being too sensitive.

I'm not sure why it's set that way, but I've seen it many times.

EDIT:

I just looked at the post you made, and I think the problem was that you didn't capitalize Nigeria and Nigerian. If they're capitalized the auto-censor seems not to kick in; if they're uncapitalized it seems to replace them.

I think using the nword thing is dumb, it should just be snipped like everything else. I am going to go out on a limb here but i think it should be fine with the context in mind.
For example it i were to write.
"FU*# you" I would get a warning, but reffering to N words is okay?

You must have used two g's in the terms "Nigeria" and "Nigerian".

This was an automatic filter action and not that of Staff.

Hope that helps...

Actually, I think it's just not capitalizing the words that does it, even when they're spelled correctly.

Nigeria won't be auto-censored.

nigeria will be auto-censored.

If you hit the "quote" button you can still see exactly what was typed.

However...Why is it ok to say "N-word"??? When you say "n-word" everyone knows what you really mean...

I complained about this stupid filter a while ago...Saying n-word is just as bad as saying the real deal...

Saying Nigeria is still ok as long as you capitalize the N...Stupid...

I have to agree...in my haste i failed to capitalize the words..

NOW i am wondering if i Capitalize the N-word does that pass the filter

and i was using the words Nigeria and Nigerian which made them out to be very nasty looking

I think the filter needs to be changed in some fashion to make it better cause i do agree with you that using "n word" as the filter is just as bad.

all this is just observation of a system not working to the best of the abilities that it should i think.
