A Palestinian man has been convicted of rape after having consensual sex with a woman who had believed him to be a fellow Jew.

Sabbar Kashur, 30, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Monday after the court ruled that he was guilty of rape by deception. According to the complaint filed by the woman with the Jerusalem district court, the two met in downtown Jerusalem in September 2008 where Kashur, an Arab from East Jerusalem, introduced himself as a Jewish bachelor seeking a serious relation.

Gideon Levy, a liberal Israeli commentator, was quoted as saying: "I would like to raise only one question with the judge. What if this guy had been a Jew who pretended to be a Muslim and had sex with a Muslim woman?

I would like to answer Mr. Levy's question that no, this wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Anyone who denies Israel is an openly apartheid state is out of their minds.

Country X has a law that goes.
Rape is
When women does not allow
When women allows but it is due to deception.
and ctr.
Married person claimed that he was single and interested in long term relationship.
Is it not enough for conviction according to a (stupid) law?
You want to throw in Jews/Arabs - great. So did lawyers for the offender. They played race card. It did not help.

Yes a jewish man would and has been charged with a crime in a similar scenerio.

The Nuremberg Race Laws of 1935 deprived German Jews of their rights of citizenship, giving them the status of "subjects" in Hitler's Reich. The laws also made it forbidden for Jews to marry or have sexual relations with Aryans or to employ young Aryan women as household help. (An Aryan being a person with blond hair and blue eyes of Germanic heritage.)
