Obama committed to 'diplomacy' on Iran

presstv.ir
US President Barack Obama says Washington is committed to a "diplomatic solution" to Iran's standoff with the West over its nuclear case.

"We remain committed to a diplomatic solution. But the Iranian government must understand that the path of defiance will only bring more pressure and more isolation," Obama said in a joint news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in Washington on Tuesday.

"The Iranian government must fulfill its international obligations," Obama stated, adding that "the new sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council, the United

so Osama , i mean Obama is taking the stance the US will still try diplomatic measures but while doing that will be doing everything in its power to destroy Irans econemy

so its we will snaction you for breaking these number of rules of the NPT
which are 0

we will sanction you for supporting these groups as we see them as terrorists even so the US would prob be happy to arm them if it were in their intrest like shown in the past.

and we will continue to try and isolate you from the rest of the world

GO OSAMA , i mean OBAMA show us the change and HOPE

DOPE

Pretty much.

Also, those sanctions WERE technically an official declaration of war against Iran anyway.

What a bunch of hypocrites..

I want somebody to ask Robert Gibs what LAWS that Iran has broken to warrant such aggression.

Whatch him go all deer in the headlights.

He really has no other choice, does he? No one is buying that anyone needs to attack Iran. No one.

Actually, sanctions can easily be viewed as an act of war. Economic and otherwise. You might find this an interesting read. Also, it wasn't just the UN...Congress also voted on the sanctions. Here.

Sanctions are not a technically a declaration of war. If so, then it is the UN Security Council versus Iran.

The sanctions are UN sanctions. They are levelled against Iran for failure to comply with previous UN Security Council resolutions concerning its nuclear program, as determined by IAEA requirements for Iran to allow transparency in their nuclear programme.

The US participation in these sanctions are insignificant considering there has been very little trade between the two counties for several decades. Iran’s biggest trading partners are the EU, China and Japan.

It is all well and good for posters to say that Iran is not attempting to produce nuclear weapons, but Iran has failed time and again to disclose what they are doing to the IAEA and other international bodies. On the basis that they act like they have something to hide, I say they are trying to hide something and this is a view shared internationally.

Care should be taken to avoid letting the truth slip from your hands in a continuous attempt to blame the US and hold Iran up as some sort of “victim”. Iran knows what they are doing and if they have nothing to hide then they need to learn openness.

Have a look at
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1929 and read the facts, not the fiction. Opens a PDF file.

Best quote of the day. Finally someone who appreciates both side of the dispute and isn't heavily biased towards Iran.

Iran clearly has some sort of nuclear weapons ambitions. The very fact that it would make them the most powerful country in the middle-east is a substantial reason why they ARE trying to get nukes.

And note flamers before you rush to attack me - i'm not saying Iran shouldn't have nukes but i don't make high level policy decisions or have any global influence. The US does and like any country it will defend its own and its allies interests. Clearly an Iran with nukes will be bad for western interests and thus they feel the right to stop them. Whether its right or wrong does not matter because none of us here can change it. Only what happens matters and what will happen is Iran will be prevented from attaining nukes.

Newsflash, WE have the nukes and we are proud of it.

Newsflash, our government agencies will arrest, torture, and kill anyone who tries to get the same transparency from our government that we threaten Iran with.

I applaud Iran for telling the UN to shove it. It's a joke. I wish we were out of the UN, too.

Obama says he's committed to diplomacy and I wish I didn't know it was a sham. By saying this now, he'll be able to point back and say "Look, we tried our best!" while we're bombing the crap out of them.

Look at all the behind the scenes crap going on in our government. How about we fix that instead of meddling in some other government. Let 'em have a nuke so they feel they can defend themselves. I wish nukes didn't even exist, but it is a sad fact that they do. I hate that we go around policing other countries on what they can and can't have while we're THE ONLY COUNTRY to ever use them, and we've done it twice. Disgusting and insulting.
