In principle I have no problem with the call made by the employee of the store if the pictures exceeded their interpretation of normality.

I do however have a problem that something proven to be innocuous was dragged out for so long including a three year old being interviewed.

The handbrake of a judgement call by the police or by the childrens services never happened to decide wether the photgraphic content was innocent or pornographic. The police refered it on to the childrens services and they then investigated, at no point did anybody say hell seriously this a daughter swimming or a son playing around with his underpants.

Whilst I am not trying to change your opinion I would ask you to look at the lack of judgement calls available to these professionals - the system must be followed at all times!

I know ALL about this sort of thing.

Alright so many of you know I'm gay, and I'm married and I have children with my husband.

Well when we first adopted our daughter, we had some religious fundies who lives accross the street with us.

Real sick people who left bible's at our door and had "prayer" sessions at church for us. Made signs that said "God Hates Fags" and used to stick them in our lawn.

You know..fundies..

Anyway, I was out in the yard one day washing the car, my daughter was playing with our two pitbulls on the lawn.

Now it's 30 degrees outside and I'm not wearing a shirt, my daughter is in her bathing suit cause we had a springkler set up and all the at jazz.

About 2 days later I get a call from social services, saying they got a complaint about "innapropriate" activity around our children and that they wanted to schedule a meet & greet to make sure everythign is ok.

Now if you've ever adopted a child you know that the rules for such things are VERY strict and you MUST comply with any sort of request from social services or the adoption agency when it comes to complaints filed for child abuse or neglect etc..

So they come over and ofcourse everything was fine, I explained what had happend and as we were talking the social services women explained where the complaint came from.

Guess who? My fundie neighboors..they had called and reported that we were "parading" around naked in front of her and having sex in the open house in front of her, constantly.

Not just once, but multiple times.

The social services woman actually burst out laughing when she told me, she was dumfounded as she explained that usually when they get comlaints like this there is always at least one thing wrong or it's somewhat legitimate.

They had also filed a police report against us for "neglect", which they were promptly charged with filing a false police report.

In any case it was about 2 years of BS, especially when she entered school as one of them worked in the school as a teacher's aid.

People can make your life hell for no reason. Now I didn't want to big of the religious, but that's what happened in my situation, for this poor sap with the photos at the store, that's ridiculous, everybody got that "Bathtub" photo of their kid somewhere.

Recently I found a folder in my parents house. In this folder were photos of family gatherings, birthdays, holidays, graduations...
Even one of their wedding day.

But this was all a cunning ruse, for in this folder were also contained horrifying images.
Images so sick and terrifying I shuddered to my core. For these were images of me and my brother naked...

Apparently we were just having a bath. A bath? Ha! That was part of their plan. Why would anyone take photos of their kids in the bath. Needless to say I have contacted the authorities and they are closing in around my parents.

It has also come to light that my beloved Grandmother was also involved in this most heinous of conspiracies.

Make no mistake they will all pay. Mine and my brother's honour must be restored!

One day I will stop using sarcasm, but until then I will use it to mock the more ridiculous parts of our society.

This is one of the most ridiculous cases of over cautious policing I have heard recently. Makes me wonder what is wrong with the pharmacist?

What I am pretty sure of though, is that there is nothing more to these images than suggested by the accused why would someone in this position tell the story if there was?

perhaps you could report my parents too!

At my 21st birthday party they produced a 6 foot by 4 foot blown up picture of me nude sitting in a washing up bowl on a camping holiday and proudly displayed it in the pub!!!

Your story doesn't make sense. It was 30 degrees and she was running around in her bathing suit? That is below freezing and you let her play in the sprinkler?

When I was a small child (1970's), the local newspaper ran a story about an operation I had. With full frontal nudity picture and all.

I still have the clip.

God may hate fags, they've been said to cause cancer. But God loves all humans, that includes gays and fundies. Bless you for adopting.

As a father of 2, i also took a few pics of my kids bathing and splashing as babies....but i made sure not to include their 'junk' in the pictures. I felt it wasn't necessary or in good taste to take photos of their privates to have a sweet picture of when they were babies.

Quite honestly, people who do take 'junk' shots of their kids are a little weird imo. Just add a little bubble bath and viola, the privates disappear.

Not everyone is from the US and uses Farenheit.

30 degrees Celcius is 86 degrees Farenheit.

This is a sad sad sad state our country is coming too. 99% of parents are now child pornographers based on this story. We can't even take the "funny" pic of the kids in the bath tub unless they have a swim suit on now. What a joke. Stories like this make me ashamed to live in America.

I know the author probably wants to put this far behind him, I think I would spend my life saving and mortgage the house if I had to to sue these guys for every dime I could get from them.

What a load of rubbish! Well I do agree that DFCS and CPS do perform a very necessary and hard job. They do tend to lump some of the more benign cases in with some of the more heinous cases which they handle. Am I to take it that any parent which snaps off a shot of their youngster playing in the tub is now a child pornographer. I have several of my young son playing with his rubber ducky and various other tub toy pals. The cutest happens to be him with a giant grin whilst holding his rubber ducky under the water and in front of his "lil ducky". Perhaps even more heinous than this are the pics from the day when his mother was trying to change his diaper and he managed to fight her off while she was putting a clean diaper on him. He then stood up and made a "break" for it! Running about the living room giving a loud rebel yell with the clean diaper held high over his head in triumphant defiance!
Parents take this pictures for no reason other than to blackmail and embarrass their children in their later years! Imagine going through the pictures with your teenage childs new paramour, flipping through the pages and seeing the grin creep up the girl/boyfriends face as your childs face is just stunned! Ahhh yes! A parents dream come true!

I have a very good friend who is going through something similar to this family but far worse. It is a false accusation against her young son (under 10) who supposedly touched another little girl inappropriately. Her son has passed a lie detector and the girl has recanted and there is no physical evidence.

It has cost them more than $10 000 in lawyer fees, psychiatrists, etc. The cops had many opportunities to realize this for what it was and the DA had lots of opportunity to dismiss it. They have tried to force him to plea guilty and have no jail time and his record wiped clean - which his parents will not allow. How can they tell their son to lie? He will never trust anyone again. They have put sanctions on this child, children's services have been involved. My friend has lost tons of friends over this and has had to close her business.

It looks like it will all be wrapped up soon and the DA has so little evidence to proceed. (because the poor boy is innocent).

What scares me most though is that all kids play "doctor" at some point. Makes me glad I don't have a boy.

OMG that is just horrible! Everyone knows that at some point all children play "doctor". They all become interested in what makes them different from each other. This is a normal part of childhood. It is sickening that in todays society things such as this lawsuit and criminal charges occur. Yet our children are bombarded daily with images of their young counterparts on TV dressed up as garish little whores. They are bombarded with sexual innuendo and images from such early ages. With a majority of parents content to allow the "boob-tube" to babysit their children for hours on end it is no surprise that youngsters are headed down a road of early sexual interest. Perhaps I should keep a closer eye on my son. He has two neighbor girls that are enamored with him. They are a few years older than he is. His mother and I laugh about it, "our son the ladykiller". But perhaps we should be keeping a much closer eye on their playing and goings on...

I feel for your friends, how terrible that the allegation of an act by a child can destroy lives.

Where have we gotten to in his world? In the seventies the lad would have got a clip round the earhole and been sent on his way irrespective of whether it was true or not. The fact it is not true compounds the idiocy of the situation.

Please don't! Let them and him grow through normal childhood experiences.

It is bad enough they are disciplined out of play and experimentation at home, don't fall for the propaganda at home too.
