Nothing is going to become of this. I highly doubt our government would allow it.

The founders of Facebook didn't have the picture of muhammed it's some users on facebook that did this and the lawyer first sent a request to facebook to delete the account and block the persons IP. Facebook Responded saying no. Then that got the lawyer pissed.
So they then banned the website in pakistan and other islamic countries and this was going on and off on and off and now they want to permanently banned them from islamic countries and even they can't now enter most Islamic countries.

No you would say why go after facebook if it's a memeber that uses facebook that did it. The reason is that those images and files are on facebooks server.

You don't know or need to know that anything you submit to facebook they now own.

So if you submit your own companies logo on facebook to promote it's business now facebook can use your logo and business name for anything they want. They can use it in their advertisements of their company or website.

So how the legal side of things are that whenever you upload images or yourself or text or anything you upload to facebook becomes an asset of facebook they now own it.

Now if it's copyrighted material that you uploaded that you didn't have rights in the first place to use it then facebook is liable for that. This also includes if your upload a image of Muhammad.

So yes facebook is in trouble in Islamic countries. This is like the same laws in the U.S like if you burn the U.S flag or do anything disrespectfully you will get the consequences.

It's illegal to burn a perfectly good U.S flag or take a piss on it etc or have the flag upside down.

I hope you can relate that to this. Most people just only think oh it's my freedom to draw anything I want. Yes you can do whatever you want but there are punishments when you break rules even if you don't live there but if you are on the Internet your in international waters. You may go to websites in other countries.

Why should we? It is freedom of speech. You do not have a right not to be offended. I made fun of Christians as an Atheist, atheists when I became Christian, and I make fun of Muslims now as I go on with my life. I could care less who I offend. Live with it.

You just reminded me of a recent story about Pakistan ... Land Of The Pure!

THEY may call it the "Land of the Pure", but Pakistan turns out to be anything but.

The Muslim country, which has banned content on at least 17 websites to block offensive and blasphemous material, is the world's leader in online searches for pornographic material.

See the problem here is that you got this from Fox News

Pakistan top in Porn Search: Google Denies

Google officially denied the accuracy of its search trends that declared Pakistan as the top nation searching for illicit material on the internet, reported.

In an email sent to dawn.com, Therese Lim of Google’ communications and Public Affairs Southeast Asia team said,
“We do our best to provide accurate data and to provide insights into broad search patterns, but the results for a given query, such as those reported in this story from Pakistan, may contain inaccuracies because the sample size is too small for the results to be statistically sound.”

Internet Service Provider Association of Pakistan has also declared statistics regarding pornography in Pakistan as flawed.
Earlier, ProPakistani had published a detailed report, incorporated by Google Data, to show that Pakistan isn’t even in top 10 countries for porn search, leave alone the top slot.

Last week FoxNews had produced a report alleging Pakistan to be number one nation for porn search.
www.allvoices.com...

Time and time again we are taught that Fox News is NOT to be trusted
However we keep falling for it again and again and again and again!

When will we learn?

I am neither offended nor nor offended. And I care not what you decided to do. I merely believe it's disrespectful, and I would not purposely set out to offend or ridicule and hide behind my freedoms.

But then again I don't have a compulsion to go around drawing Muhammad or Jesus Christ or Buddha or any other gods either. Maybe if I did it would be a different story.

Somebody needs to make a porn of Muhammed and his 21 Virgins!! Now that would certainly top the Pakistani Google Searches! Especially if you throw a Horse or Dog in !!

Pretty sure that would get you the Death Penalty too, but they would probably have to watch the video a few million times as "evidence" first.

Lol, im sorry but that is hilarious.

Is there really freedom of speech??? Where is this freedom of speech????

in the U.S???? if you think so....good for your cuz I can't see where in the U.S they allow you to say or epress yourself so you can't really say there is freedom of speech.
I would like to question why in the educational system if you tell the professor to go blank himself they kick you out of college??? That's freedom of speech???? or why you can't wear offensive clothing... for example I am in college and I can't wear any family guy T-shirts at school else you will get thrown out. They said because it's offensive material and could lead to gang crime. Yet it's your own expression freedom to wear whatever you want yet it doesn't exist in the U.S

Well for me I don't care about this story. I am not religious but I hope some of you would understand to respect all religions. Making fun of those religions rules and breaking there rules is just as bad as spitting at them.

Yes this also can physically harm people cuz this stuff starts fights and leads to violence on both sides.

Like I said and so does my business school says try to avoid talking about politics, religion and strong point view subjects like abortion. These are not professional or good in the business realms cuz it will damage your business. In this case your personal image will get damage if a Muslim ever met you. Talking to the posts saying screw them I draw whatever I want ...

This issue isn't just about Islam it's for all religions. You don't see real Muslims making fun or breaking the rules of other religions. If you do see it currently then it's in retaliation. Our religion respects other religions unless those religions disrespect ours.

If I were you I would avoid talking or draw or doing anything to hurt any type of religion.

For those not understanding why people follow religions it's mainly because they aren't educated to a point where they still believe in those religions.

For me I don't think facebook founders will get a death sentence nor will get in trouble.

The thing the lawyer was pissed about was that facebook refused to take down a profile or a group showing the picture of muhammed.

For me if I was a website owner I would take it down. I would first comfirm in this case if that does violate the Islamic religion and then I will take it down.

I will comply with any religion as long the material violates that religion. I would still support freedom of speech as long it's not offensive material to a specific groups or any hatred that writings that isn't true about people or could be confirmed.

So, oh well who cares??? you act as if you guys own Facebook. I bet posters here are more worried then facebook themselves... and yet it's not you that they are pressing the charges on...lol

The crazy part is that these offended muslims partake in facebook in the first place. If they weren't all up in western culture's butt, they wouldn't even know these depictions exist. It's like if I went to Yemen, or a Jordanian website or what have you, and was offended that my cultural icons or religious beliefs weren't represented/respected. Be ridiculous.
We'll draw what ever the hell we want, by the way. Its like the crucifix in urine a few years ago, major art piece, major controversy. Mainly because of federal funding involved. This was the dominant religion of our culture being completely disrespected. Free speech means free artistic expression. We'll do it to our icons, your icons, we'll do it simply because we can. Enter the modern world at your own risk.

Yes they do.

Islam admit openly paedophilia (exemple : aisha the whife prophet was only 9 or 12)

Mary was a purportedly a teenager (pedophilia). Marrying and having sex with young women was legal under the Christian bible...

Islam actually kill more peoples everydays than car accidents, alcohol, cigarettes etc etc etc...

That has to be the most IGNORANT BASELESS "fact" I have ever stumbled across.

Islam actualy claim proudly to whoever wanna her them, they want to force islam and invade non muslims countries

Sounds like Fascism, America has it too.

Islam refused the right to go to school for womens
Islam frenquently kill good willing christians preachers who come to help population in third world countries

Islam is a plague

choose your side

If a Christian crashed a plane in a buildin in Saudi arabia, i think most of you guys would suddenly realise how hypocrite you are, you, the muslim defenders

Islam declare war and crash some planes in the US= " oh but they're peace religion"

What would be your reaction if the opposite happen ?

Just like time and time again we are reminded Fox News competition is just as bad as they are. The only answer is to listen to them all and check out the story before you believe it. Anyone who only subscribes to one side is the problem.

Every news source we have is biased one way or the other. The trick is in knowing and acknowledging that, instead of being brainwashed by one side or the other.

Even the Internet Blogs and the new pseudo news sites are heavily biased and unreliable. I'm amazed by how many are so easily lead around by the nose, just because some charismatic talking head tickles their fancy or should I say sends a thrill up their legs.

On topic-

Propaganda for internal consumption. Nothing more unless some nut on a Jihad decides to make it their life's work to kill one of the accused. That Lawyer is likely just like people who want power here. Create a common enemy to unite people behind you and then control them as you rise to power. Politics is politics.

It's not as if this event wasn't well advertised both on FaceBook and off.

And why is it you believe they're all up in "Western culture's" butt exactly? One day they just woke up, prayed to Mecca, and decided, "Hey, isn't it a nice day to go get up someone's butt?"

Yeah.

And I see no reason why the modern world can't also be a respectful world. You give or return disrespect, then expect someone not to be up your butt? Yeah, okay that makes a lot of sense. Not.

Enjoy your freedom, but don't come whining about the price you pay for it either.

wow i dont even think the death penalty is warranted when someone kills someone, doesn't give them time to regret there decision locking them away the rest of there life in another story.

but to say someone needs to be killed for drawing a cartoon, or owning a website where users are free to post offensive cartoons is about the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard.

True, but in the same light of what is fair and reasonable, to kill somebody for drawing a picture of another man is not reasonable or respectful is it?

The plan is simple. Keep us divided and we follow along like good little lambs. You can't revolt against a tyrannical government while worrying about who is or is not in lockstep with your personal beliefs. Teach hate instead of respect. Teach domination instead of integration. It's all easy enough to see.

One man says Allah, another says God, its all the same. I doubt Allah [God] cares a whit who draws a picture of who. Only a flawed man is capable of that sort of nonsense.

Probably will be done as a virus from some public computer, IMHO. I expect it will happen within a year or so, there are sooo many creative minds working on ways to upset Muslims because or partly because of 9/11.

I believe in the laws of physics. I don't see much of this as having been any kind of issue before people felt that their space was invaded or their culture threatened. They as much as told us so, respectfully at first, and then not so respectfully. But that again is just me.

It is being "up western culture's butt" to demand that we censor what we choose to depict on facebook, in our newspapers, etc. Amazing that you don't see that when it's right in front of you. If I don't like something in the popular media, I don't watch/read/visit that particular media. Most secular westerners behave in a similar fashion. The most fundamentalist western Christians form PACs and lobby to pass more regressive laws and interpretations of law, largely unsuccessfully. And simply avoid said material.
Only Islam calls for the death penalty, and its not even their damn cultural media. Just because the west allows your religion to practice here because we're cool like that, never for a second think your rules apply to our culture. And don't pretend these reactions aren't the loud, clear signs of a cultural invasion. I'm not worried, mind you, its bound to fail.
Because we're WAY cooler than all that.

Ever ask yourself why the "invasion" started? If so, what answer did you come up with? Oh and you may have missed the part about we're not quite sure yet if they even did call for the death penalty.

I do. I draw a lot, and if I want to draw something, I will.

I am demented, you see. If there is a stupid law, I am convulsed to break it. I cannot help it. When my school required ties, I was immediately "called" to walk around with a fake paper tie I made with crayons. When they required school ties, I immediately wore a copy off one.

I cannot explain this, but it is who I am. I have a need to break stupid laws and beliefs. Indeed when I first met a Westbro Baptist church member, I immediately had to start a debate with him because I disliked his beliefs.

It is my nature to rebel against that which is held sacred and is stupid. I cannot help it at all and believe me, as an architect, I will find a way to make a glaringly large sky scrapper and call it The Muhammad.

So forgive me, but I feel I am genetically called to be a provocateur against cherished beliefs. And indeed, I have used the Bible to destroy my fellow Christian's cherished beliefs about things that are simply wrong, ranging from their belief of no aliens and the Earth being super-special, to the belief of Pat Robertson being the be all and end all of scriptures.

I have no laws and rules for which I abide by in respecting others, as I feel no one should hold onto their beliefs with absoluteness other than those most basic concepts of it. You're a Muslim? Great. I'd be happy to try Ramadan traditions with you. You won't let me draw Muhammad? I suddenly have the urge to draw him.

tl;dr all. All I can say is my speech has not been treaded upon yet, and God help the poor soul who tries to, for he'll be praying for a time machine when I'm done with him in court.

The invasion started because the West has the most economic opportunities and a pretty liberal immigration policy. And of course the part about Islam being such a rigid authoritarian religion that its adherents, unlike the adherents of many other religions, fail to live and let live. Yeah, I said it. I sure see it. One can put a crucifix in urine as a major art piece, but Comedy Central won't let the south park guys show a cartoon of the "prophet." Do you see the difference? You're telling us what we can and cannot do. IN our own damn countries!
We get along. Even if we find things distasteful. Islam is not so tolerant. I don't think its any particular muslim's fault, I think its inherent in the religion, just like guilt in Catholicism, and narcissism in scientology.
