And some sort of gripping hands yes.
Imagine a tough skinned tiger who had the intelligence of a human with the capabilities of making weapons and tools.
I'm just not sure where the hands would go, perhaps a set of grippers along with the four legs, so it can still be fast and would still have the ability to grip.

Ah ha My evil cunning plan has been spotted ..

I was hoping that his might extend into the evolution of mankind.. What do we lack as humans that we would need to say colonised far away planets, to keep our species going if conditions (thanks BP) were to become too Harsh...........!!!

I know this thread is a little light hearted and may raise a smile or two ? and so why not.... but there's a bigger question at stake here.......

How do we adapt, what do we do to survive as a species ????

I understand your point. Although, those that claim to know the future are usually more wrong than not. There is no way to truly determine what is right around the corner. So as far as the, "survival of the species", I would have to say, Human + Cockroach. I know, not a pleasant thought. But definitely one of the most resilient creatures.
