Well, this entire "disclosure movement" is going round in circles I think.
There's no secret to the fact that Vatican observatory considers ET life to be absolutely possible, like Jose Gabriel Funes says, and he doesn't speak about microbes only and alien life per se, rather intelligent one:

Just to clarify, if any disclosure is about to happen (and given what abductees and the researchers like David Jacobs, late Karla Turner, Budd Hopkins and others have deduced from the aliens' so-called breeding program, we'll be confronted with alien reality sooner or later and it might not be a matter of our governments disclosing the truth rather than being forced by reality to admit that the aliens exist and are here), it would be absolutely logical to begin it from the religious institutions.

First, religion is very important to many people and sometimes they're more concerned about and believe more in what priest says than their local authority (well, priests are local authority in some populations).
Second, the Catholic Church has its own scientists and they, having academical background, would be very unprofessional to state that there's no life in the universe, especially intelligent life. They're professional astronomers who study astral and aerial phenomena and elements just like any other scientist, so it's obvious they've come to the same conclusion as the majority of civilian astronomers worldwide and their assumptions and reports have a weight of a well-documented, scientific fact or claim.
Third, the Vatican has to speak freely and openly about ET life. It's in their interest and interest of all religions. If people are accustomed to the possibility of the existence of intelligent extraterrestial life their religious beliefs wouldn't crumble when faced with reality of alien life.
That's the theory.

We all know that if we were to see aliens around us and them governing our world, many of us would break. There are no events in the known history, no background to grasp to save the reality. Alien is alien in the most harsh, tough sense of the word. So I'd say yes, the Vatican is preparing. Yes, they cannot deny ETs, and I guess they don't even want to (what for?). They're preparing for the tidal wave.

It is good to know the Vatican makes efforts for ET Disclosure, something unthinkable in the past!
That means also, the Vatican knows quite more on the topic. There is an entire modern telescope in Arizona for observation of earth-like planets, sponsored by the Vatican. It is important the clerics-scientists tell us as much as they know with honesty they advise the others to have, and not continue keeping the secret concealed as their ancestors did for centuries. (because they knew as much as Sichin or much more, didn't they? That didn't stop them of persecuting the scientists).

Particularly which of the ET races does the Vatican astronomer consider brothers and sisters? How about secret negotiations between Vatican and ET, as Dr Salla reported once (a meeting with UN, US, Russia, China, Vatican, others, with the Grey/Eben on Akau island). It is good if the Vatican astronomer gives some real data. We know we all are created by God, we already know that! Even the ancients knew it, as they knew the earth is round. Let see who is invited on the dinner on Earth.

How about a rapture or a visit of a foreign planet, to avoid 2012? Or it will be called evil alien abduction, while the left behinders meet the dinos on earth? The sooner the Vatican and others address these issues, the better.

An anonymous source associated with the Defense Intelligence Agency recently claimed that military officials on November 12, 2009, met with extraterrestrials called Ebens, from the Zeta Reticula star system, on Akau Atoll in the Johnston Islands. The alleged meeting was part of an ongoing set of diplomatic discussions and exchanges that date several decades. The information was the latest installment related to an alleged classified project called Serpo, a secret exchange program with extraterrestrial visitors from Zeta Reticulum. According to Victor Martinez, who maintains a large email list where he distributes Project Serpo reports released to him by anonymous:

the Ebens met on Akau Island with a total of 18 representatives from the U.S., United Nations, Russia, China, the Vatican and certain other guests. U.S. representatives are said to have included five military personnel, two intelligence officers, one linguist and one person representing the Obama administration.

The Johnston Islands are a U.S. territory and lie 750 miles south west of Honolulu. That places the Islands directly under the military authority of Pacific Command that historically has been run by the U.S. Navy. Although the latest Project Serpo release does not identify the service of the five military personnel at the alleged meeting, the choice of Johnston Atoll suggests a leading role for U.S. Navy officials in the latest face-to-face meeting.
