Sarcasm ahead... Instead of selling now and making sure my family and i will be taken care of I will just carry the company for a couple years untill it crashes and burns and then hundreds of people are in line at the bank wondering whose check won't cash. Ooops sorry #13 this checks no good.
I'm all for it. I will do the same thing in the future. You know what kills me is one of my best friends is a moocher, purposefully is a full time student and makes low income to live in low income housing. I'm talking $99 a month rent for a full apartment. Of course the state pays the rest. He is smart, he crunched numbers and he feels more securty in the government taking care of him than he taking care of himself. Basically in the end he makes more by making less. It just kills me but we are friends and those are his life decisions, the programs are available for his use although the other side of me just can't stand people that wont take car of their own needs.
Live long and prosper.

the corporate slaves will never understand where you are coming from. they think just by being an employer that you have this never end banking account, they don't that their are some months where i've seen employer pay employees with out bringing anything home for the family i think all businesses should do 1099's then people would see what it is like to have to do it themselfs when it comes to taxes. it is not all fun and games trying to make payroll for employees.

I can see that you are concerned with yourself only. While you have every right to do with your business as you please, rest well knowing that even though you have the ability to help people you choose to look only after yourself. You cannot serve two masters. Your decision is your own. God bless you.

You conveniently overlooked all the years he provided JOBS for his employees.

Phedreus - Congratulations! You out-smarted TPTB... for now anyway. Stay safe, live long and prosper.

Get new friends...

I will not bother with those types it's very depressing and it brings you down, too. Just like my friend who is a hypocondriach, she's always"ill" in some way and never has health coverage so we're paying (tax payers) for her health care for being a hypochondirac, I can't wait to get out of this neighborhood to get as far away from this crap as soon as possible!!!! But, I know what you're dealing with, either slap your friend and wake him up or burn the bridge, dude.

I can't wait to see thier CEO's taking swan dives off those pretty skyscrapers like they did in the twenties...

Good it is the corporation I would liek to see fold, more power to small business more hometown grade A customer service, and more mom and pop shops, I can't wait!

Lol... I love your post. After watching the Obamacare and the Financial Reform being slammed through, I had predicted what the fallout would be like. Rule in doing business is that you never-ever bite the hand that feeds you.

My question to everyone who disagrees with Phedreus's actions -- If you regulate and mandate the American people (corporations, self-employed, freelancers, and other taxpayers), who do you go to in order to get a job?

Without corporations or small businesses to invest in a free market, you have no innovation, production, and expansion. Imagine if thousands of American corporations and small businesses close their doors, for they do not want to pay for your 'mandated' health care, roads, schools, etc... Lol...

Congrats to the thread owner. Worry about yourself and your family first, and don't worry about anyone who is biting at your wallet.

God bless you man. I can't wait until Obamacare starts full burst in 2014. I am dying to see how the world looks when all of our domestic companies become foreign, so they can get around all the domestic mandates our current administration has pushed through.

Voting for this socialist of a President had a consequence. I can't wait to see the expressions on all his worshipers' faces when this goes to hell.

Congrats man. God bless.

The government will lose an estimated 1.3 million dollars in business taxes, fees, licenses, payroll taxes, penalties, not to mention the corp. income taxes on profits from my company.

So, in order to have the last word, you put 187 people out of work and have the balls to give a watered down summary of how that helps them..?

The system is in need of a big overhaul; agree with you there...as to your methodology in making a statement - it stinks like poo. And did you even entertain the thought of looking for a buyer who would maintain the current staff, or at least a part of..?

Do you own a business? Do you know what he is going through? Then don't cast stones, my friend. I am a business owner and I know what he is talking about. On more than one occasion I have been very close to calling in the attorney and accountant and having the same conversations he had with his. I am sure after looking out for all those people for all those years while HE had to sacrifice, it became more than a bit frustrating. It sounds like he did well in the long run, but I assure you, owning a business is not easy. No free time. No vacations. Stress 24/7.

Imagine having the "freedom" of owning your business only to be the lowest-paid person in the building, if you get paid at all. Imagine watching your revenues stay the same (and that's if you're lucky) while your tax burden increases year after year. The quarterly checks to the IRS get bigger and bigger. The state takes more and more. You wish you could give bigger raises to your employees, but the government felt that it needed that money more than your employees do. Less money in the pockets of employees = less disposable income = weaker economy, for everyone.

Let me get even more timely. Imagine building a business, hoping to move into your own building after 5 years or so, so you can maybe build some equity and have something to show for it after 10 or 15 years. Then imagine the socialist agenda working to destroy the financial system so they can gain more control. To make this country even more of a socialist state where the government decides who gets what. Take from the haves, give to the have-nots.. of the serf class, that is. Don't even start in with me about how that isn't the case, because it IS. Then imagine as your taxes go up yet again, your vision of owning your own facility has vaporized because now the banks aren't lending to businesses anymore. I get to pay rent for who knows how many more years, and build zero equity. That's MY reality today.

It really makes a business owner want to tell the government to go F*** themselves.

to the OP.

i cannot fault the man what he has done. his first priority is his family. people need to remember that they need to take care them and their own before they can take care of others. i would never expect someone to bear the burden of my wife and daughter becuase it is my responsibilty nobody but mine. i don't want no hand outs. i've made it on my own since 16 and took my bumps and came out on top.

Yeah, employees are always being a bunch of whiny, no good, money grabbing whores aren't they? There's nothing quite like treating them like a bunch of assets to further yourself, cutting off their means to an honest income once you've achieved your own personal goal. The OP is really sticking it to the man by disadvantaging people that just want to make an honest living.

Some of you really need your heads checked. I mean, I thought I was the crazy one, but there are really people patting this guy on the back? Some even wishing for God to bless him?

If God exists, it's evident that he's no longer concerned with people at all, what with all of this happening.

We gre up together so I have know him most of my life. He's my friend. I know what he's up to. He is waiting for the Alaska gas line to kick into gear to take up an engineering position. It's just that in the meanwhile he doesn't care about mooching, he's OK with it. I have confronted him about it but i don't think it botheres him. Plus he has family in political positions that I could benefit from in the future. Not that I am using him or anything, we were friends long before that.

He's a small business owner, the only thing I said had to do with the corporations the BIG ones, the only beef I had with his OP was he sounded like he was saying those families will now be dependant on the goverment but he did clarify that's not what he was implying AS I said in my other post it wasn't the actions he took, I could understand that it was the attitude he projected about his workers which he did clarify he wasn't trying to say it the way I took it. But I'd like to see the Big corps fold like a house of cards, then there would be more small businesses that could survive, IMO.

After all we did just bail them out and as opposed to the Welfare kings and queens it took a hell of a lot of a bigger bailout for those corporations than what it costs us for those on welfare, those corporations should have been left to fold, they did the business that put them in debt, so obviously they weren't too smart so why let dumb people keep running a giiant corporation? It's retarded!!!!

It's one thing to show up to work and find out the doors aren't going to open again and another if he said hey crew were only going to be in operation for a few more months so look for future employment.

I think more and more people have stopped paying taxes, and stopped complying with government regulations. Of course, they have to worry the government will come in, and shut them down. However, when enough people stop following the rules, the government doesn't have the resources to go after them.

Furthermore, it seems the enforcement mechanisms are very unfair. For example, the government rarely cracks down on illegal immigrants outside the system. How well are other laws enforced? When you get to the point where the black market competes with the legitimate market, the system deteriorates. If the government can't legally collect enough money, how long is it before the police turn to blatant extortion at their own whim?
