Both would be almost impossible 2 shoot down with SAMs because of stealth capabilties the same would need a radar lock which you cant get on either jets.

What range dose the F-22 have to be in to fire its AIM 120D's. The F-22 is only as good as the weapons it uses.

The F-22 has not been tested against the new Russian IBRIS-E radar yet.
The Russian SU's can carry AA missiles that has a longer range then a AIM 120 D. What IF the SU's can detect the F-22 in time to shoot its AA missiles before the F-22 can fire its AIM 120d's.

Well its patriotic to believe that your own weapons are the best. So you will have two parts with different opinions anyway.

I have also heard that the Russians also challenged the F-22 in a AA combat. But the Americans declined from doing it.

Let the propaganda live lol

Excuse me for asking, but why are this 2 aircraft even being compared? One is a 4th generation aircraft, the other is a 5th generation aircraft. Totally incorrect comparison. You need something to compare the F-22 to? Wait till the Pak-Fa arrives. Until then, we do not have a 5th generation aircraft, so therefore we do not have anything to match the F-22.

I know!! but its quit odd that we do compare a new fighter to an older one. The SU and MIG is a mater of fact a threat to the F-22 even if it is a 4th generation fighter because of its radar and long range AA strike capabilities.

The F-22 dosent have long range strike capability unless it carries its BVR AA's outside it's frame. But then it becomes less stealthy.

The F-22 can carry six AMRAAM-D missiles while entering the fight at Mach 2 and 65,000 feet. It has the best radar and EW sensor suite ever devised, while being being extremely stealthy. Strike refers to air to ground, in that it can carry 2 AMRAAM, 2 AIM9, and 2 1000lb bombs.

Only missile that outperforms the AIM-120D is the RAMJET R-77, it exists only on paper; I may as well compare it to the JDRADM. Sensor on the AMRAAM is likely better too. Long range missiles such as the R-37 and the KS-172 have an RCS of a barn door. Use radar to detect it, take appropriate action. Too, the KS-172 is pretty much a paper missile. I'd like to see an Irbis-E detect the F-22 at 150 kilometres, let alone 300...

No Flanker variant even comes remotely close to the F-22. The F-22 is simply better at everything except external payload, maintainence and cost. Anything else is simply wishful, fantasy based, thinking.

Well it would have been quite odd if the F-22 wasn't better then the SU 35 and the MIG.

Lets wait and see what the Russians and Chinese build as their 5th generation first. Then you can start to compare things.

R-77 missile is not on paper, it is in service and comparable to AIM-120 AMRAAM. It is the plane that we don't have..YET. Pak-Fa will be shown this year and will be going into service soon. So is the T-95.

Edit to add link on R-77:

The F-22 would win in a straight up BVR fight. Dogfight would be a tough one to call though

The Ramjet version of the R-77, called R-77M1, is a paper missile.

The ones we have in service are already good enough. Plus, when Pak-Fa comes out, there will be even newer missiles just for it.
