Ten wounded in shootings during Black Expo

Three separate shootings left 10 people wounded and scattered hundreds in downtown Indianapolis during the crowded Indiana Black Expo, police said early Sunday.

Police spokesman Lt. Jeff Duhamell said authorities made no immediate arrests directly tied to the shootings and investigators were seeking leads to the suspects.

None of the victims' injuries were life-threatening, Duhamell told The Associated Press, adding police had made three unrelated arrests on weapons charges.

The shooting began when several shots rang out around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Circle Centre mall, leaving eight people wounded and sending people running, Duhamell said.

He said a second shooting occurred nearby just minutes after the initial shooting and left one young man wounded. He added that the third shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. and left another man wounded.

Duhamell said the shooting victims were all males between 10 and 18 years old. He said most were taken to two area hospitals where they were in good condition early Sunday. One person was treated at the scene.

Ought to setup a bulletproof vest booth just outside the expo. Bet it would be a money maker!

I am sure if they do it will be to blame it on the white man.

I have spoken with several friends who are cops, with two out of the three being military police (and one being black himself). All of them say that white and latino police are afraid to confront black suspects. They are afraid of being labeled a racist and losing their jobs, reputations and possibly their freedom. Some cops are even going as far as to take their time to get to calls with suspects reported to be black. A lot of cops are frightened to death about being labeled as racists for simply doing their job, as in the cop in Mass who had to confront the professor. All it takes is for an AA to resist arrest or get confrontational and then someone else with a video camera or cell phone to record it. The cop will then be considered guilty until proven innocent, which often won't happen and even if it does, their reputation is finished, along with their savings.

These days, if your white cop stopping a black person and someone happens to film it, your career is in jeopardy. I feel that this will ultimately lead to more crime. I'm sure that the cops at this expo were frightened to confront anyone there.

I live in Ft Wayne and had not heard about this, seldom listen to the local news. Thanks for the update, wondering about details. Will turn on my most of the time local boring news. I would say we may hear from Jackson or Sharpton at some point in time.

Airspoon, I 'stole' this off your profile page, 'cause I thought it fit in well with the topic of this thread.

Who's more of a threat to the black race in America, themselves or the white man?

Of course. Everybody knows it's Bush's fault. Just ask Obama or Biden.
