Hi everyone! I just recently purchased a Mossberg 590 12 gauge shotgun and was wondering what type of ammunition can it use. I am completely new to firearms so I know absolutely nothing about them. It says 3" shells but I was wondering if it can also use 2 3/4" shells. Those seem to be much more common at stores. I am guessing that they can't but I just wanted to make sure.

Also any websites you guys prefer to shop at?

Thanks!

I'm also trying to find some 12 Gauge 3" Buckshot 8 Pellets. Does anyone know anywhere I can get them?

First off way to go on practicing your 2nd Amendment Right.

Yes it will shoot both 3" and 2 3/4" shells.

This site is great for all different kinds of ammo.
www.deltaforce.com...

I would purchase police grade or military grade ammo if for protection.

Also have both slugs and buckshot.
Reason being is a shot gun is a 100 yard or less gun, great for heavy woods and urban areas.

Buck shot you need to pattern your gun to what distance all the pellets would still hit the torso. Usually around max 30 yards or 90 feet

Slugs are good from 30 yards out.

Ghost ring sights are a good addition.

If the plug has not been removed from the magazine that should be done also to increase your ammo load in the weapon.

Good luck and happy hunting
