Howdy ATS!....

While progress is being made pertaining to the oil leaks (hopefully - God Help us!), There still exists a broiling caulderon known as the Gulf of Mexico that is SATURATED with a plethora of hydrocarbon based compounds and toxic byproducts that threaten the lives of everyone residing upon Gulf Shores, including all of the Islands of the Carribean, and the Coasts of South America and Central America.

This thread intends on providing you with as extensive a list of these chemicals as it can. Then, for the industrious individual, they can then research the MSDS Safety and Medical Aid sheets on them...

here we go!...

(NOW will the folks in the Gulf region listen, and get out of Dodge?)

This is pretty Comprehensive. The list is a detailed conglomerate of substances found in oils around the world, so I hope I didn't miss anything, but I'm sure I did.

While I've researched this list, it does not reflect that all of these chemicals are within the actual Gulf Leak, but... it is possible that they are there via a combined listing of oils that contained differing structures.

Half Face, Chemical Cartridge Respirators are sold at Sears, True Value, Home Depot, Harbor Frieght, White Cap, and may even be obtainable from your local FEMA office...

If you've never trained to operate one of these apparatuses, it's quite simple. (For Males, shave ALL of your lower facial hair to ensure a tight fit) then slightly dampen the rubber sealers around the mouthpiece and then place straps over head, and adjust mouth Piece to conform smoothly upon face, and then snugg down the secondary strap. I'd recommend clear safety glasses as well, to avoid absorption of airborn toxins via hot weather vaporization or chemical saturation via downpour through the eyes.

I just hope this situation is turning around for the better... but I still remain pessimistic. =

As I have had to explain to many people Southners do not run. Our roots are deeper than you can imigine. The area along the coast was settled in 1400's, generations upon generation have lived here. There is a saying that once you get sand between your toes that's it you never leave.
Our ancestors fought the British twice and the federal goverment once if need be we will do it again.
I would rather die here than have to exist somewhere else.
It's a state of mind, a state of place, a state of being.
The south is our religion, it's our birth right, it's our blessing.
This is why we fight.
