Trial lawyers expect tax break from Treasury Department

The nation's trial lawyer group, the American Association for Justice, revealed Tuesday that it expects the U.S. Department of Treasury to soon give its members a tax break on contingency fee lawsuits.

The tax break could be similar to proposed legislation that didn't make it through Congress last year. That proposal, sponsored by U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., would have allowed attorneys to deduct fees and expenses up-front for filing contingency fee lawsuits.

John Bowman, the Director of Federal Relations for the AAJ, said in response to a question from a state delegate regarding recruiting new members that an administrative order from the Treasury Department could come as soon as tomorrow, sources told Legal Newsline.

"If Sen. Specter's proposed modification of the Internal Revenue Code succeeds, the federal government will, for all intents and purposes, share in the cost and risk of bringing the initial litigation," it says.

Lets, with this current economic downturn and sagging Job Growth, this administration is looking to give Tax Breaks to Scummy Lawyers instead of Businesses and Medical Professionals who create jobs. The type of policies this administration is enacting has numbed me to a point that I just can't even look at the news anymore.

There are hardworking Americans who create jobs for other Americans who are now in charge of footing the HCR bill, the Education Loan Bill, the Bailouts to Losing Businesses, Road Signs that say "Stimulus Money at Work", Aid to Terrorist Sympathizers, Finances to fight states that uphold the Constitution & safety of American Citizens....The taxpayers like me and many others are fed up.

Now this story, this same administration is going to give breaks to blood sucking Trial Lawyers so they can keep suing businesses and retain more of their money. Give those tax breaks to the Doctors who want to start up new hospitals and open up more residency spots for incoming medical students. Businesses can see unlimited growth if the administration would stop taxing them to death with welfare programs and initiatives.

This administration and their pals are driving this country to the ground.
