National Guard Homeland Response Force coming to Missouri

The U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday that Missouri will be one of 10 states to host National Guard Homeland Response Force units to help coordinate federal response to a terrorist attack.

The Defense Department will place one unit in each of the 10 Federal Emergency Management Agency regions. Missouri is located in Region VII, which administers FEMA programs and coordinates federal disaster response in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.

The units will include about 570 personnel composed of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive response specialists, as well as command and control and security forces.

Terrorism as our government wants us to regard it doesn't worry me as much as terroristic actions from within our own government! When the government has to worry about its citizens its time for them to look at what they are doing to cause unrest!

I wonder how Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska feel about having Missouri Nat Guard occupying their state?
And the Governors of those states? Are they OK with this as well?

The Utah National Guard will train nearly 600 of its members as part of a regional Homeland Response Force to be headquartered in Draper. The new unit — including medical, search and extraction, decontamination, and command and control companies — will be expected to respond to disasters anywhere in a six-state area within 12 hours. It is scheduled to stand up, under the Utah Guard’s 97th Troop Command, in 2012. The Utah-based team is one of 10 nationwide based in each of the 10 Federal Emergency Management Agency regions. Ohio and Washington will host similar units starting in 2011, with Utah, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, and California adding teams the following year.

The Homeland Response Force (HRF), which will also include elements from the New Jersey, and Virgin Islands National Guards, is due to become operational in 2012. The New York National Guard will provide two key elements of the HRF: the Command and Control element built around the Troy-based 42nd Infantry Division; and a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Task Force.

I can't honestly say that any of them were asked how they felt about the "response teams". I'm going to be digging for more info though, and as I find it, I'll post it here.

Missouri is already home to key military assets in Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base, as well as brave Missouri National Guard units that have saved lives on the home front and defended American interests overseas. I applaud the Department’s decision to locate this new force in Missouri, as it will create as many as 90 new full-time National Guard positions under the leadership of Adjutant General Stephen L. Probably ought to add this site to your list of sites to read from time to time.

Many news items from Homeland Security that just don't seem to make any news.

I could be way off base here, but I'm afraid I'm not. The locations of these response teams seem to me to correspond closely with those states that are crucial to the mid term elections.
