China's geologic disasters up 932 percent in H1

www.chinadaily.com.cn

China witnessed 19,522 geologic hazards in the first half of this year, up 932 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Land and Resources.

The disasters left 464 people dead or missing, up 177 percent over the same period last year, the ministry said.

One of the latest geological disasters occurred in Xiaohe township of Southwest China's Yunnan province on Wednesday, in which rain-triggered floods and landslides killed at least 19 people.

Well it's seems the planet is active again. IMO is because of the sun increase activity...

Anyway, anything it is, since we're more people on earth and living closer and greater numbers to rivers, oceans and volcanoes, more death are sure to happen whenever one of these disasters hit.

Now I'm sure plenty of people here will say 2012 is here or something... but eh, the more people there are, the more death there will be, it's just normal.

And we've only been able to reference those ``disasters``for only a couple of decades, and we improve every time... so is it really an increase?

And I think lots of this is due to the ``we don't care we expand`` policy of the Chinese government... speed often takes over safety...leading to dangerous geologic environment due to lack of planning, funds or just plain simple care.

so you're saying a 900% increase in geological disasters in 1 year time can easily be written of because of improving technology's and growing population? did the population increase with the same percentage? have we made some groundbreaking breaktrough in sensortechnology's?

I think its not that simple but hey... only time will tell right?

The article is pretty sparse on details. What is a "geological hazard" exactly? It talks about deaths and injuries. Is that the statistic they are using?

It looks like all they are comparing is the first half of this year to the first half of last year. Pretty screwy statistics. The weather wasn't so bad last year as it was this year?

But if the weather wasnt so bad last year as it is this year then maybe thats the statistics they are using.
We will have to give it a few more days for the full details to emerge then we can make a sound judgment. But until then i will just blame H.A.A.R.P, its much easier that way

And then someone strikes back with a little HAARP of their own, resulting in an earthquake in DC?

Why play the haarp when they can just foreclose? But yes an eartquake in DC is not an everyday event. LOL
