Is America edging towards socialism?

"Socialism" is a boogeyman word designed to stiffle conversation and open debate. Calling someone a "red" is the surest way to kill a conversation, and the only tool a lot of folks have if things don't go their way.

We have been central planning for years. Our police department, fire department, and public school systems have more in common with socialism then they do with capitalism.

So what?

Particulars matter. Buzzwords are meh.

Some of the most "successful" countries are social democracies...and successful here means happy, healthy, well clothed and house and educated with firm family foundations, not necessarily wealthy.
