Besides the fact that I just heard Montesquieu roll around 200 times in his grave ... there are problems with all forms of democracy. Idealizing one is proof of a mediocre mind.

Main problem of western-style democracies:
lobby and corruption by industrial complex: political elite is compromised by money and power. Population is controlled through media and materialism.

Main problem of Islam as religion system:
socialist by nature; corruption through absolute power of the religious elite. Abuse of scripture to control and dominate population especially in less developed nations.

We come from a world where not so long ago kings and emperors ruled with iron fist (well, most of them). Mankind is actually just beginning to understand what true freedom and equality mean, it would be unwise to dismiss all our hard work, we've evolved quite fast since WWII.

Indonesia may ban coffee

Fresh from managing to convince Indonesia's Muslims to pray in the wrong direction the Ulema Council seem to be on a bit of roll as they now turn their attention to banning the world's most expensive coffee because it may be unclean.

Apparently Kopi Lawak which costs around $200 a pound is extracted from the dung of a cat then roasted. I'm not surprised the Ulema Council are urging farmers to ensure the beans are first cleaned before they are considered halal.

Just another example of the insanity which you can expect comming out of any Muslim country at any given moment......................Although, banning cat [SNIP] might be a good thing...............What next?....ban cats?......

I thought cats are a good thing oozy?.......It is dogs that you pour gasoline on and set them on fire.......Why don't you like dogs oozy?.....Dogs are a mans best friend and a Muslims worst enemy....no?

Muslims object to blind people on buses because of guide dogs

The latest On the Buses saga involves Muslim Bus drivers and passengers refusing to allow blind people to bring their guide dogs onto buses because in the eyes of some primitive medieval fruitcakes the dogs are unclean.

The Govt now look set to take action. My advice would be to kick the Muslims off the bus and sack the drivers for breaching equality legislation while my advice to fellow brothers and sisters is if the dog annoys you so much get off and wait for the next bus you idiots.

OMG. I can just imagine these nasty human beings yelling and screaming at a blind man to jump off the bus.....you got to be shiitein me!

So oozy, you would ban dogs who help blind people board buses, and would you make the blind walk because of their animals?......How would Islamic Democracy in your Utopia handle this situation.......If the majority of Muslims say that the blind man should not be let on the bus with his dog,.....that would be OK by you, correct? Or do you believe that a majority consensus may not always be the best solution, and may not always be in the best interests of humanity in general?

edited to remove 'g' from [SNIP].

oozy you failed to answer my questions, again.

You constantly preach of the virtues of living in a society governed by the teachings of The Koran.

The Taliban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 -2001 and during that time introduced rule by the dictates of The Koran; Sharia Law.
Afghanistan became a repressive and cheerless state during this time.

The Taliban were overthrown in 2001 much to the relief of the majority of Afghani's.
The Taliban then proceeded to enter into an armed campaign to re-gain control of Afghanistan.

Sometime during all this you moved away from Afghanistan to escape the chaos which had resulted from The Koran obsessed Taliban.

Instead of moving to Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or somewhere similar you moved to New Zealand, a 'western democracy'.
Here you chose to partake in various activities specifically deemed sinful by The Koran.
You then choose to take advantage of the freedom of speech which the 'western democracy' grants you to criticise the 'western democracy' and advocate the virtues of Koran based states, like the one you fled from in Afghanistan.

Surely you understand why we find this confusing and, quite frankly, hypocritical.

You consistently rattle on about 'Islamic democracy' when as quite clearly has been shown there is, and never can be, any such thing.
oozy if you truly believe in Koranic based government I suggest you would have more credability if you actually had the strength of your convictions and moved to a more Islamic country or at least followed the dictates of your sacred Koran a little more dilligently.

Your constant cherry picking of Koranic verse whilst blatantly ignoring several verses which offer opposing views lends little credence to your arguement.

I suggest you re-read this thread but this time with a more open mind free from religous and political dogma.

Already answered, stop being repetitive, I already stated that isn't Islamic law, that is Islamic law mixed with Pashtoon culture.

Let me make it bold so you can read it.

Let me bring my quotes just so you don't come against and say I didn't answer your question:

The Taliban follow their culture and Islam.

The pashtoon culture if you know treats women, the way the Taliban treated women. Heck the Quran states it is every man and woman's duty to acquire knowledge, yet the Taliban stopped women from education. Is that correct?

It is in their culture to separate Women from men, and to keep women at home and to take care of the home, and children. In the Pashtoon culture, nothing else is required of women.

That being said, it isn't just Pashtoon, Arabs also have this culture etc.

If is in page 39.

I will bold this quote also so you can read it.

This sounds like a Christian Crusade against this thread lol.

Keep attacking, with the same arguments, over and over again, until the opponents gets tired and gives up lol.

Very entertaining+annoying+waste of time.

Provide those verses.

I already countered all those verses, and prove was taken out of context for everyone to see around page 14-30.

Go back and read.

Why is the koran any better than the bible?

If Christianity had developed its own democracy, would you follow that?

How do you feel about buddhists or atheists?

Why should they follow any religious democracy?

Because the Bible is corrupt, and Atheists don't have any constitution, they can do what ever they like.

Don't forget, 2 years back I was a hardcore atheist which allowed me to try things in life which most people regard as wrong.

Go couple of pages back I posted verses from the Bible which states apostates should be killed, and fathers should check the virginity of their daughters before marriage etc.

Go couple of pages and examine those verses.

It is not choice if you can get in something but can't come out. Democracy is ultimate based on choice, and Islam is best Democracy because it gives you choice to choose it or not. The Quran as constitution. Not culture as most here try to argue about Islam today.

Islam doesn't condone culture.

From what I have read in your numerous posts on ATS, would it be fair to say that before rediscovering/converting to Islam, you had an addictive personality? Would it also be fair to assume that you experienced many misfortunes in your life?

Well the bible technically is only as corrupt as those who mistranslate it (much like the Koran) - and guess what... I'm an atheist and i DON'T do what i like...

Because unlike you, i don't feel the need to base my actions on the promise of punishment or reward in the afterlife.

I'm stronger than requiring the need of an old silly book to tell me how to exist in the 21st century without hurting anyone.

So... My final words on this subject.

Say NO to islam. It's a religion for the weak minded and the oppresive.

Ok .... so when you babble bible versus then we should accept them , ... but when others recite passages from the Koran than you cry " their out of context "

Out of context ?? is that your only come back ?? and when the Taliban, or other Muslims do horrible things you blame it on culture ??

What do you think INSPIRED their culture dufus, they kill infidels and mistreat women because it says so in the Koran. So what would your democracy do to people who choose NOT to be a part of it ??? Hang them ??

If Islam is so great why did your family run away from it ?? Do you even remember it ??

Your like a naive little kid who just discovered something, so you go overboard with it and think it is the end all, be all. Hey, I was there too, I used to carry a bible to school, ... public school.

Time and experience will change your thoughts.

I hate to break it to you, ... but the only thing your gonna get out of the Koran is a squint from trying to read it.

It is not the way.

40 pages in and Oozy has all but failed to convince anyone but himself that his religion is decent.

Sorry but i'm thinking you've turned more people away from Islam, than if you'd have not said anything in the first place.

Well done Oozy.
