...minors dont have more rights than their parents, quite the contrary... they dont have the right to vote, enter into a contract, etc... when it comes to protection from those who have harmed them, minors have a right to petition the court for intervention... if parents dont want to be taken to court by their kids, they shouldnt abuse them - simple...

...you're blaming the kid for his mother's inability to control herself... maybe he visited her home because he wanted to continue to try to have a relationship with her... children have the tendency to want a relationship with their parents - even those who grew up under far worse hostilities than this boy...

...per the news articles - she admitted to cussing in front of and to her son, admitted she made up lies to post online when she was pretending to be him posting online, admitted she's been mentally unstable AND she threw him away when he was 11yrs old... the judge ordered her into anger management class and parenting skills class, said he would forego the jail time if she attended the classes... sounds like a fair judge to me...

...as for your prediction of their future - no one knows what lays ahead for this mother and her son... their relationship might possibly be mended down the road - if she changes and he hasnt been too badly damaged... he might turn out to be an awesome man in spite of his mother's lousy parenting skills...
