Very interesting points indeed, but on that count you are wrong. Demons are sentient life forms from another plane of existence with their own intelligence - not a human emotion that is projected as a thought form.

Do not limit the existence of demons, the spectrum is fractal and encompasses all forms and likeness.

There are man made demons that affect humanity, self made demons that effect the self and there are otherworld demons of no human design which seek to fullfill their own personal agenda.

This is a subject of a most complex nature, any form of simplification is just silly if you ask me.

Our comprehension of what these beings truly want or are capable of is shady at best.
